Is Steve Bartman still in hiding?
Oh yeah. There was a GoFundMe to send him to the wildcard game but he refused the offer.

That was still one of the best ESPN  30 for30 documentaries.

That being said, I expected the Pirates to make the playoffs. Unfortunately it's the wild card again. 98 wins...really??...and all we get is a fucking wild card game!   Sorry.  I digress.

Back to my initial point...the crazy part.   The wild card roster was just announced and Sean Rodriquez is the starting first baseman.  *sigh*  Never woulda thunk it.

Go Buccos!

ShayP

AND...who would think that 3 teams from 1 division would have records that would lead all others. crazy

Sorry to see that one Shay P. Arrieta was burying the down-and-in slider to left handers and the fastball 4 inches off the plate.

Hey, Pirates made the playoffs, lost to Cubbies.  Nothing to be ashamed of.

Good game, Pirates!

ediot:  Post-season, YO!

It is crazy that three Nasty League teams in the same division had such good records...

It will be funny when the Cubs defeat the Cards...

From the Rangers/Blue Jays post game talk on Fox I heard Raul Ibanez talking about how tough Adrian Beltre (in the 2008 season) was:

Raul Ibanez: Adrian, you have a torn ligament in your thumb, you need to have surgery so you can come back in July.
Beltre: Oh no, I can't. I will miss too many months of the season.
Ibanez: Well, what are you going to do?
Beltre: I'm going to put some tape on it.

What a bitter taste, but I'm over it...I think.  ;D   Shutout 2 years in a row at home made it hurt even more.

Nice. I hope his lower back issue isn't serious and he can play in the next games.

I believe they will be the Cards.

Next year we probably will see the top 3 records come out of the NL Central again.  :o

Hmm Astros sweep Royals. Primm, Nevada here I come.

Don't like MLB putting the 2nd Rangers/Toronto game on the MLB Channel only, which is a premium channel on my cable plan.

Lost my weekend beer money. Looks like its a netflix weekend.

Well, at least Mattingly won't be fucking up series during Columbus Day weekends when he's in Miami next year.

The MLB Network broadcast is so much better than Fox's and TBS's it's a joke.

To the "I love Jorch" thread with you...

ediot: I may be joining yew, my "Cubs sweep Cards" spell has failed as well...  Lucky Schedule has been placed atop the Deep Freezer!  Destiny awaits,

Getting to hear Bob Costas announce a Blue Jays playoff game again was kind of special and he's sounding better than ever.  I always loved his dry wit.

Well, turning into a shitty day for me.

I had:
The Astros (lost)
Toronto (looks like I will win this)
TOR/TEX under 10 runs (looks bad right now).

I'm in on the NL games too, but those haven't started yet.

Man the momentum and mood changed quickly in that Stros game. Though for sure we'd have it and the park was buzzing and then.....

I think alot of people in the sportsbook had the Astros. People were pissed. F-Bombs everywhere. The guy sitting next to us was "helping some friends" and said he lost about $1,500 in tips.

The NL game are treating me better:
Cubs through 5 (Won)
LAD/NYM over 6.5 runs (Won) - I had x3 my usual on this
Mets  to win (looks good right now)

I can't watch these games on Fox, TBS or MLB because I'm totally lost without Jessica Mendoza explaining the game to me. I don't know how I reached age 40 watching baseball without a guiding light like her. The scales have been lifted from eyes thanks to her. She should be Commissioner...of the Planet.

Strange play but ruled "incidental contact" and umps confirmed. Blue Jay fans go wild throwing stuff! So much for nice, polite Canadians!!
now someone ejected? Tasty Canadians....

Eddie, what did you think of that chit?

If the Royals win tonight, I think you'll see roughly 3 more of these "overexuberant" incidents/incitements in the next series. Toronto's fans being wilder than I ever recall them being in the 1985-93 heyday. What a strange, strange inning.

Andrus was a disaster. And they're paying 15M+ per year for his services through 2022.

Fuck, is what I say. Ugh. Tasty Canadians are not so nice but 3 errors not forgiveable then. And a very weird inning, though I think the rule say that call was a good one. (And consulted by other baseball computer-memory like nerd friend.) At least spared an intra-state rivalry, for me.

I'm shocked by this series outcome, Texas goes up 2-0 in Toronto. Toronto hides their ace in long relief, grabbing a vulture victory to perhaps establish confidence for Price, who Gibbons clearly didn't trust in game 5. I'll give the Rangers credit, I thought they were headed for 85-90 losses back in June.

Right now(10:07pm) it looks like a 1985 ALCS rematch.

Stros lose and we get a nice interview with starter who looks and speaks like a guy killed, in a brutal fashion, in some early 90's Steven Segeal movie. And announcers praise his is "talking" in 3rd person. No, he doesn't understand English and has a translator. And, in keeping with Segeal maybe even connected to the new KC mob. Who knows? Maybe they moving into on the wops. Fuck him. And fuck MLB. Go Cubbies at this point. At least NL and take curses and tradition out of it and put in pure Dominicans and political correctness.

About 3 years from now, some team in LA, New York or Boston will be looking at Cueto(wasn't that in Total Recall?) at 267 lbs with an ERA of 5.92 and wonder if somebody will take the rest of his 8 year 200 Million contract off their hands. And he does look like part of "Screwface's" posse in the Seagal movie where he killed dreadlocked Afro-Caribbeans instead of swarthy Mediterraneans for a change. I think "Kill" was in the title.

Carlos Gomez's "exuberance" was not a plus tonight. What a clown.
