Naturally getting the latest most expensive thing from whoever is what some queue up for days and weeks for.. Why are they not vetted to see if they're capable of functioning on a level that doesn't include apps and basically being told what to do via electronic means?

It really probably is based on evolutionary drives.  Being the first to have a new coveted shiny thing gives one prestige, which gives him a crack at the clan leadership and first dibs on the women.  Except in the old days, being the first to have a new coveted shiny thing probably meant one was actually the strongest or smartest in the clan because he had to fight for it or find it.

That's absurd. Everyone knows you can only quick charge your phone by submerging it in salt water. Swimming pool water works too but takes longer.
