Without the stinking Yanks, the smelly Ruskies and the cheating Chinks, countries like Australian, England and yes even Canada have the rare chance to go for Gold in a semi-world class sporting event.

I present to you, for all intents and purposes, the glory that is the Commonwealth Games.

Aussie, Aussie, Aussie ..... Oi, Oi, Oi.

we watched some of them yesterday in the DFAC....I do believe it was female weight lifting

Bart Ell

Not gonna watch until they bring back the winter games. These summer games are just a bunch of prison trained Australians jumping over things.

I do believe that is our best event. It's hard to beat the Yanks because those pesky bald eagles won't stay still.

I still refer to Sri Lanka as Ceylon on my "places I'd flee to after shooting my co-workers" maps. I'm a traditionalist.

My favorite part of The Commonwealth Games is the when the Duchess of Cambridge performs the ritual polishing of the Duke's royal sceptre during the opening ceremonies.

That's Brenda's favourite mantelpiece photo.

Speaking as one who`s been to Sri Lanka 4 times, I can honestly say it`s not a place to which I would flee under any conditions what-so-ever. The local brew there is positively undrinkable.

I keep a copy next to my bed at all times. I can't get enough of the pomp and pageantry.

Between that and an extradition treaty,I'm scratching them from the list.

Very impressed with the opening ceremonies. There can never be too many kilts, unless you're trying to make your way to the bar through drunken bagpipers after the Paddy's Day parade here, but that's another story entirely.
