what do you think is the real reason ART stopped doing dark matter

The same reason Muhammad Ali stopped fighting after he fought Larry Holmes.

I believe Paper*Boy in another thread summarized something to the effect that once Art got back into the grind of doing a weekly show, it was more of a hassle than he wanted to put up with.  Something along the lines of "the having isn't nearly as good as the wanting."  I tend to agree with that explanation.  Witness his bailing-out on DM shows not long after he started.  That's when I started to get an uneasy feeling he wasn't going to be doing DM for long.  I was glad I'd only signed-up with Sirius on a month-to-month basis, at that point.

I sincerely hope Art disproves this speculation, though, and returns next year and sticks around for longer than a few weeks.  We shall see.

GNS.

That's why we need a secure border.  How much more must it cost us?

$10 and a pickled egg. Cheap at twice the price...nearly giving it away.

And a pickled egg?  Hmmm.

Deal.
***Pro Tip: Ensure that the pickled egg is laced with botulism and you can retrieve your $10.

In my opinion Art is simply lazy, nothing more complicated than that.

It's not fair to call him lazy when he's 68 years old.  If he were a young man and had a family and needed the money, he would have stuck it out.  But it's a well documented fact that SiriusXM streaming is really poor  Had he known that prior to signing his contract he most likely would have walked away.  He tried working with SiriusXM and they accommodated hit to a point.  But in the end SiriusXM wasn't interested in reinventing their business model to suit one host.

It's that simples.

He took a good long look at the hot, young wife and thought...why am I wasting time at night doing this shit when I COULD BE doing sumpin` else wit da missus.

Bellgab gave Art all they had to give
Why did Dark matter have to stop?

Art's blown it all sky high
By telling us a lie
Without a reason why
Art's blown it all sky high

Aul Art just knew he didn't have it in him to build up a respectable audience IMO. His return shows weren't great either.

Truckers.  The damn truckers.  And  cell phones.  Damn cell phones.  And, worst of all, Jess.  Jess ate his streaming.  Damn Jess.

Still really poor quality for talk radio or news. It bothers me every time I listen to some kind of talk/news on it.

I don't know why he really decided to stop Dark Matter. I can, with good confidence, say that the multiple reasons he gave were pretty thin to nonexistent. I never experienced a streaming problem that wasn't on my end. There are plenty of ways to call in. In fact in this day and age, there are more ways to interact than ever. Most radio guys leverage Twitter, Skype, and the good old phone all at once. There are tools that automate that juggling.

I am with a few of you. I think it was a combo of realising he had signed up for something that he didn't understand. Not wanting to learn the "new" stuff in the radio biz, which has significantly changed since 2006. And just not wanting to put in the work it takes to do a show where you have prep-work, a guest, call-ins AND just normal radio content. It is a full-time job at four shows a week. It takes that level of dedication...

Like I wrote, I think Art will be back in some way. It may only be a weekly show w/ podcast. It may only be a blog and podcast. I don't know... but it will have to be less than what SiriusXM wanted.

Not enough money.

Yes.... It's always follow the money...
SXM had a chance to get C2C back and they made deal with Art to leave SMX.
SMX would have more revenue from C2C than with Dark a Matter.
Art covered up his SMX pay-off with the made-up steaming nonsense.

Want to know who Art really is? Just look at the out-right swindlers that Art calls friends.
Birds of feather flock to together.. thingie

Art will do a few shows a month on Keith's Dark Matter Radio after the fake 2 year non compete is up,  as a reward to Keith for his loyal service and to silence Keith about the SMX pay-off, Art gave him DMR.

With Art doing a few shows a month he'll get his broadcasting fix satisfied.
Art's a perfectionist, he'll have a lots of time between shows to craft them.
These are likely to be some of his best work yet.

I'm looking forward to Mel's Hole and Bugs updates!

Would not be surprised at all if this is right on the money.

Jess and I got married. We had a baby. We called him Art. He's a mean baby.
A trucker has to be involved somehow in this sordid affair.  And cell phones.  Damn cellphones.  "Would you PLEASE TURN OFF THE DAMN RADIO!"

This may have been covered, but do people recall in the first 3 weeks (or thereabouts) Art being adamant that he would leave the USA? What was that about? What is about something like law, taxes or gun control? He mentioned it several times and I thought that he wasn't going to last long. I still think age and ambition are to blame.
