ipod mini drive upgrade

i acquired a ipod mini 2nd gen for cheap.
everything worked till i dropped it, and as it had a spinning 4GB hard drive (microdrive), it went belly up.
so i bought a cf to sd card adapter (the ipod mini uses a compact flash drive interface, a CF card is a distinct possibility).
i had a 32GB sd card so i took the mini apart and replaced the OE hard drive with the adapter and sd card. however i managed to damage the clickwheel cable  so im ordering a new one of those.
