Meh, I don't care for the bald look. I'm more of a Hoagland man when it comes to swooning over bullshit artists.

Okay, I'll grant it's really just a matter of taste.

I'm really beginning to believe that blogs such as this are part of an incidious plot to immobilze Americans and diminish our productivity .  We are going down under for a month in less than a week and I've got a bunch of shit to do in the way of preparation yet here I sit  blogging.  It's been this way for the last week.  It's a plot I tell you! A vicious plot!

I recently heard an interview with now ex-con Jack Abramoff and he explained the 'system' of DC and a bit about the recent Clinton corruption. It is not like many think outright give a check and get a regulation or bill passed but about 'access' and 'face time.' More subtler process than the crude Arkansas type of the corruption in the old days of Clinton. Much of it can be legal and more about doing favors, comping meals, providing tickets, and becoming 'friends' with politicians and later the politicians at least look at, and ideally with favor, on issues your clients support because they know you and remember favors you've done for them. Some can be fairly petty (got your son courtside seats to a game etc.) Now the big money deals like the Uranium stuff and the Foundation corruption is likely more pay-to-play but regular lobbying is more about access and befriending people. Still sleazy though but the idea is to convince Congressmen etc that "everybody does it and why not take advantage of the game for your benefit," especially since now campaigns are 24/7.

I'd say that is dead on.  It's Washington's version of bachsheesh.  I spent over 18 years in the D.C. area both as a naval officer and defense contractor (okay have it your way, I was a Beltway bandit).
I can attest that this sort of thing goes on at all levels.  Just sayin'

First thing, Mr. Kongfish.  You have idiots that are going to criticize every misstep you make.  Please check your spelling before going on a diatribe like this.  You can thank me later. ;)

Unfortunately you are right.  Sometimes my brain gets ahead of my fingers and I'm not good at catching my own errors although I'll catch yours in a heartbeat.  And even though I have made a living doing what amounts to technical or expository writing, I often have to consult the dictionary to spell words like "mayonnaise."  The good part about blogging is the speed in which one can respond and, after all, I'm not getting paid for doing it. In other words I really don't give a shit if I make some typos and don't get an A in spelling.    So for future refence and for the benefit of the spelling Nazis out there, If you have nothing to bring to the table other than the proof reading skills of a stenographer don't waste my time.

For Kongfish:  You express yourself well enough.  Don't worry about the airhead critics that you will encounter.

Okay, that's not exactly what I had in mind.  I envisioned younger chics, you know, the 45 - 55 age range.

Point taken.  Can anyone tell me if New Zealand or Australia have an extradition treaty with the U.S.

So far we have some meat on the bones of what we already suspected --

Who do you think 'we' is? You're not getting off on your backpedaling that simply.

Hey Jack, I think he's using the royal "we."  No, really.
