"Who the fuck is Arthur Fogel?"

Excellent. A look behind the scenes at music touring.

Re-watching "Being There" (1979) for another untold time. Such a great concept and Peter Sellers does a great job. I don't even mind Shirley MacLaine (who normally I cannot stand except in Ocean's Eleven and this movie.)

Haha. Of course, when I went to youtube to find a funny or profound clip to post I see that "THEY" have already manipulated the movie. I see this. Apparently there isn't a movie, tv show, or event that "THEY" haven't influenced or created. People have lots of time on their hands...apparently even the "puppet masters." (Though I guess considering the movies themes and Shirley MacLaine's odd paranormal and new-age stuff,  I could buy this...a bit.)

Yes, a great scene and music and goes with the "world" in DC Chauncey is discovering obliviously  (run down city, sex shows, drug dealers, immigrants, etc and in contrast with the secluded mansion and then the upper-class and political world experience. Love the graffiti in background and stereo-types there also.)

And Chauncey, if real, would be a hit on C2C with George. Vague sayings, allusions to gardening, possible new-age musings related to seasons, etc. It would be bought hook, line, and sinker although the messages (even if unintended) would be lost on George though he would say "that's true!"

Someone claiming to be Gordon Freeman from Half Life did phone up C2C but it's hard to tell who's hoodwinking who

I must admit I had no idea what "Half-life" was except in relation to the decay of radioactive material. Last videogame I enjoyed (and still do) was Galaga-era stuff. But I googled it. Funny, when caller cuts off George when he asks about portals.

"Transcendence". I couldn't tell you how it ended if I wanted to. Wow.

"Can you prove you're self aware?"
"That's a difficult question Dr. Tagger. Can you prove that you that you are?"

Thanks for, "The Game", Camazotz.
I'd seen it and/but didn't appreciate it.

I watched as much of Ken Park as I could stomach, not knowing anything about it. It's kind of in the vein of The Ice Storm, in that it's deliberately uncomfortable to watch. I absolutely hated every minute of it and everyone involved in making it needs to die in a fire.

Dark UK comedy about visiting small museums and murder... made me laugh out loud but probably not for everyone

That is definitely going on my list to see asap.

I just watched Dangerous Acts. It follows a Belarus theater group and their "subversive" performances against the political system in Belarus. Sadly, it makes me feel like we're not too far from this in  the US.

"Tomorrow When The War Began". Looks like an Australia "Red Dawn".

Working my way through my Netflix queue:
Life of Pi
Prometheus
Quantum of Solace

All very entertaining. I liked Prometheus more as a parable than as a science fiction/horror film, and Daniel Craig's James Bond is slowly becoming my favorite.

Yes.  Daniel Craig.  There is a cold and unforgiving danger that is radiated by his 'Bond' persona.    The coldness that stems fm a soul in a state of desolation.  Or maybe, he's just a human shark.
I still think that Sean Connery 'made' the Bond  role.  He set the mark.  Until Craig, everyone else fell short of that mark.  Pierce Brosnan rebuilt the role around a reasonable framework.  Craig?  He didn't look at the mark that was set by SC, he merely took it in another direction that this Connery fan appreciates deeply.

You can skip Prometheus.  It's a mess.  There could have been a great movie there but damon lindelhoff ruined it like he ruins everything.  So completely disappointed in that film.

Wake In Fright video

Is this based on a Jorge Luis Borges story?

Just reading some more about this movie:
"Controversy

In addition to the film's atmosphere of sordid realism, the kangaroo hunting scene contains graphic footage of kangaroos actually being shot. A disclaimer at the conclusion of the movie states:

    Producers' Note.

The hunting scenes depicted in this film were taken during an actual kangaroo hunt by professional licensed hunters.
For this reason and because the survival of the Australian kangaroo is seriously threatened, these scenes were shown uncut after consultation with the leading animal welfare organisations in Australia and the United Kingdom.[18]

The hunt lasted several hours, and gradually wore down the filmmakers. According to cinematographer Brian West, "the hunters were getting really drunk and they started to miss, ... It was becoming this orgy of killing and we [the crew] were getting sick of it." Kangaroos hopped about helplessly with gun wounds and trailing intestines. Producer George Willoughby reportedly fainted after seeing a kangaroo "splattered in a particularly spectacular fashion". The crew orchestrated a power failure in order to end the hunt.[19]

At the 2009 Cannes Classic screening of Wake in Fright, 12 people walked out during the kangaroo hunt.[20]"

Definitely agree, not as good as Red Dawn, but still an ok movie.

Anytime  I have to read the wiki entry to find out what the writer and director were aiming for, I know the movie failed in some way. I did find the beginning sequence with the Engineer and the water visually stunning and that alone could have led to a profound film, but the film suffered from trying to tack this mythology on to the Alien mythos and failed. I really didn't understand a lot after that scene, particularly who those Engineers were and what they were about and why. It really could have been so much better as a stand alone with an independent plotline. The Engineers were pretty awesome, though.

I found just the starmap scene to be worth the price of admission.

But I am like that, I will really like some overall bad movie if it can put together 3-5 minutes of something I haven't seen before, done in a fantastic way.

I am also a guy that will like a movie just for outstanding production values, or set design, or costumes though.

That was equally amazing, really well done.

I liked Dan Harmons sideways snark on "Prometheus"

"I'm going to do a prequel to Die Hard. Sure it'll share a lot of DNA with the original but it may or may not be the same world, we're going to call it Nakatomi"

IMHO without the admittedly stunning cinematography , Prometheus would be a straight to Netflix/Sci-Fi channel filler movie.

You could say the same for Bladerunner.
