Ok I couldn't sleep last night and caught the truly awful Steven Seagal misfire called Today You Die (2005).  This thing was so confusing, poorly-acted, uneven, and full of plot holes I have to admit I had a real kick watching it.  Some of the dialogue, if you can call it that, is just so bad, it's good.

Really, crack a beer or two and watch it some night, you'll thank me (or hate me).  The backstory detailed in imdb tells of how this disaster came to be including how Seagal kept showing up late and changing the script and how they cut-and-pasted in the car chase from another movie.  Oh dear, it's bad.

George Lazenby? Can't tell if this is sarcasm on the internet or not.
I saw it quite recently. I thought he kind of phoned it in pretty much throughout. I am a fan of Telly Savalas though.

Hardcore bond fans always have OHMSS at first or second. I love it as well. It's dark and the campiness is minimal. Plus an amazing ending.

As for inception I never read in to how much Nolan intentionally assimilated. It is about spying and espionage, and they're trying to stop the rich son from ruling what was said to soon become a new world superpower. The more you think of DiCaprio as a bond figure in that movie the more it makes a bit more of sense. Especially if you take away the dream stuff and just look at the action going on.

Paranormal Activity 4 2012(I think)
Disappointing. I can't recommend this movie.

Lone Survivor has a dvd quality screener out.  It had some "hollywood" moments and theres a discrepancy about exactly how many enemies this seal recon team ran into BUT... i liked it.  There was a hint of "the passion of the christ" as well that I found a little hard to believe but still a pretty damn good movie.

Quite serious. This is the only Bond film with a convincing relationship, or a relationship of any depth (in fact that's what drives the film) and it's the best-directed and edited of all the films, no contest.

Of course, it's no Matt Helm:

Or The Nude Bomb:

Has anyone heard of (this is truly the title) Zombie Ass:  Toilet of the Dead?

I have now. I looked it up on the imdb. It's a Japanese horror-comedy by someone who used to direct porn. I'm going to pass on this one.

Yeah I've heard of B movies, but this one sounds like a BM.

World War Z 2013
Toy Story 3 2010
No Way to Treat a Lady 1967

I've been on a movie binge.

"Enough Said" it's one of those "older people relationship movies" with "Elaine" from Seinfeld... I can't see her as anybody else.  I would have dropped a few loads on her back in the 90s... anyhooo it's like James Gandolfini's final role I'm guessing and it was blah.  I'm just not the "older people relationship movie" type I guess... there was some funny dialog but really just watched it cause Gandolfini died recently.

"The Book Thief" was amazing. I kinda teared up a lil bit.  It's set in 1938 in Germany.  Any WWII movie is usually right up my alley.  Fucking Geoffrey Rush is THE SHIT.  I love him.  It should win a few awards I think.  Oh and  it's narrated by death.  niiiiiice.

"The Interview" from back in 07 is a Buscemi movie all around.  Never heard of it before and somehow stumbled upon it poking around at IMDB.  Good movie though I really don't remember it being out.

"The Wolf of Wallstreet" had me glued to the screen.  It's got this "goodfellas" narration by I guess DiCaprio but it might as well be fucking Ray Liotta cause seriously they sound the same.  Jonah Hill is hilarious in it as well so... yeah check it out.

Remember its the best time of year people... screener season.  Right now the top 100 at the bay is full of em!

Had to add one more that I watched between the time of my last post and this one... been up since 2am just couch potato style na meen?

"her" starring WAKEEEEM Feeenix.  Yeah i know its spelled with a j thats great.  A new take on AI and almost a whole new incarnation of "hal 9000."  It was up there with "wolf of walstreet" and "the book thief."  I'm having a bit of an overload with all these great movies I've been watching lately.

Also ... here's an example of what I think most heterosexual men would say is a really beautiful woman.  Healthy.  Curvaceous.  Not some wan skeleton with a bolt on boob job.

Just watched American Hustle. I cannot recall another movie that left me so completely unimpressed. Overacted, but mainly overdirected, it's a fucking slog of a movie that thinks it's far more clever than it actually is. And Jesus Christ, the musical interludes. WE GET IT, IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE THE '70S. At no point was I drawn into this world the movie was supposed to create. For two hours, it's painfully clear you're watching ACTORS, not "people who happen to be on screen", no, actors who are obviously reciting lines.

Bateman score: D-

Wolf of Wall Street. This one is pretty great. DiCaprio is probably the best he's ever been, Jonah Hill is hilarious, and it's directed masterfully by offuckingcourse Martin Scorsese. My only real complaint is that it could've been edited tighter, there are few 3 hour movies that couldn't easily be cut down to 2 1/2, but it's still absolutely worth watching.

Bateman score: A-

I actually liked American Hustle.

The Big Sleep 1946
Black Swan 2010

Completely off topic, but thank me later - the great Bobbie Gentry, one of the best singer/songwriters/performers/BODIES country music ever produced:

paladin1991

It Happened Here.  1966.

Britain is invaded and overrun by the 3rd Reich in 1940.  Movie takes place in the 44-45 years.

Ubik

Contact

The sphere

First time I have watched them. Really enjoyed both very much. Jodie Foster is so hot!

Hope I'm not revealing too much, George D., but I can remember seeing Bobbie Gentry's Ode to Billy Joe album cover when I was maybe 8 and thinking (as much as my prepubescent comprehension allowed) that this is what a woman was supposed to look like.   Can you be eight and have stirrings:o

Kind of OT, but I don't watch much television but have been looking for something to watch to take my mind of things. Last night I caught the first episode of a show called "True Detective" on HBO, and it looks like its going to be brilliant. If you are into dark detective shows, check it out.

"The Phantom" - A "Hunt for Red October" type flick. Solidly entertaining. Duchovny makes a good bad guy.

Yup. Good submarine film, but then I'll watch anything with Ed Harris in it.

Lone Survivor

Very difficult film to watch. However, Peter Berg, and the cast & crew did simply a magnificent job of bringing Marcus Luttrell's  story to life.

Just streamed "Cinco De Mayo" on Netflix. Awesome but violent docu-pic about when the French still wanted to take over the world, the civil war fighting US included. Napolean, Benito Juarez, Porfirio Diaz- great portrayal of the heavies involved. Grueling war scenes as gruesome as any ever filmed. Followed that by my first viewing of Jacob's Ladder. If I wasn't vegetarian already I would be after these two meat rack flicks.

I watched Lone Survivor the other night. I'm surprised by some of the negative things critics had to say about it, calling it "propaganda". I also watched Inside Llewyn Davis. Another winner from the Coen Brothers. They never let me down. (Except for The Ladykillers)

Swordfish  2001
O Lucky Man  1973
Live and Let Die (Roger Moore as Bond)  1973

Best of the bunch was Swordfish (I hadn't seen it in years so it felt fresh).
