I actually make some extraordinarily yummy and totally non-dangerous nori rolls. the filling consist of versus veggies, (depending on the type of roll and the pattern they create - Japanese food is all about presentation) and - in the ones that are not pure veggie - cooked shellfish.  (crab, shrimp or lobster)

Once, I went to a party where i was asked to bring hourdervs.  these rolls were among the selection i made. A British gentleman who had been invited primarily because he'd only ben in the country a short time and needed to meet people, had apparently never seen a nori roll.

He picked on up, and then took a heaping teaspoon of Wasabi and glopped it on top - popping the entire thing in his mouth (they are a one or two bite item, so that part's not so odd) He completed this maneuver before anyone could speak.  Being the ultimate Brit, he chewed, swallowed, blinked back the tears, wiped the sweat from him brow and said "Oh my, I thought that was guacamole."

Cultural education all around I guess.
