Any good Sci-Fi TV Shows?

Are there any decent Sci-Fi shows on TV now? A few years ago we were spoiled for choice. Now we seem to be in a bit of a drought. Any recommendations on a good Sci-Fi series that is currently on TV that I might have missed?

Thank you and I'll take my answer offline.

Go to Amazon.com and watch The After. It's an Amazon Original Series pilot episode. If you like it, you can submit feedback to that effect which may put the show into full production, provided enough people like it.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a Chris Carter ( of The X Files ) production.

I watched it the other night primarily for the Chris Carter connection. It was interesting and has potential but they perhaps gave away too much in the first episode. I prefer a build up/tease and not giving it all up on the first date. I guess because it was a pilot they need to give a little bit more away. I'll definitely give further episodes a watch if the continue.

I watch Almost Human, it has potential. I can see it getting better or spiraling the drain. I hope it continues to improve. The two leads are very good. The stories, to me, seem to have the same elements as bigger budget movies that build to some decent excitement. The writing itself has some very good moments, and then some not so much.

I gave the The After a view, I was disappointed, but I also had the beginnings of a migraine so maybe not a fair statement.

I think all TV SF is garbage -- from Twilight Zone to the current day, especially compared to the lit and film equivalents.

However, I hear Orphan Black is good?

And remember -- the nightly news is obviously science fiction

I'll give Almost Human a look.

Anyone know anything about Helix on SyFy?

I think SyFy's got Sharknado 2 in the works.   ::)

Sounds like an interesting premise.

Sharknado's are science fact! It should be on the National Geographic channel.

The word isn't even autocorrected on my phone.

Was shown in the UK a few months ago; promised much....

However, don't blame me if when you get to the end you feel differently...

Only saying.

I feel so nostalgic whenever I watch late 70s/early 80s Sci-Fi even if I've never seen it before.

I remember watching this show as a kid. One episode they'd lift off from the junk yard, orbit the earth and land somewhere in Africa. Then they'd lift off and return to their junk yard. Obviously they'd hired Richard C Hoagland as science advisor.

This is on my 'must see' list, but is it Sharktopi or Sharktopuses?

I too like Almost Human.  Urban was good in Judge Dredd too.  I'm not aware of any new sci fi shows that are really good.  I was a huge fan of Fringe when it was on.  I went back and rewatched the entire series and it was even better.

Netflix has the original with Russel Tovey, which I like more than the US version, probably because I saw it first.

Netflix also has The Fades, a very nice, low key supernatural British series about a teen named Paul who has apocalyptic dreams and begins seeing the spirits of the dead who are trying to break into the world of the living. Only ran for 6 episodes, but it was good. I wish it had been picked up..

Amazon has Under the Dome, based on Stephen King's novel, starring Hank from Breaking Bad (forgot his name). Not bad, but I don't know how they're going to drag it out much beyond the first season.

I remember watching this show with my grandpa. He got such a kick out of it.

I was wondering if they were going to do season two.  I really liked this show. I originally started watching just to see Dean Norris, but I got sucked into the show from the beginning.

I agree. I loved the book and always thought that any adaptation would have been better off as a long form mini-series. Not sure how it is going to drag on if it's successful and runs for 5 years.

If you can find a copy of the Swedish series called Ã,,kta människor (a.k.a. Real Humans) with English subtitles, you might like that. It's not fast-paced but it's got some interesting sci-fi elements and philosophical dilemmas involving robots. There's only been two seasons so far. I'm not sure if there will be a third, but I hope so.

Swedish Sci-Fi?  Damn, I think my ultimate dream has come true.

Me too. It was the closest thing we have gotten to The X-Files.

The scientists are still working that one out.

I love that show. The lead actors are sooo hot. One was in the new star trek movies as the doctor and the other is in a bunch of movies in small roles but I predict his star will rise since he has a body that makes most women jaws drop XDD

yep I liked that show fringe too. It got a bit screwy at the end, as if they (production) were just trying to tie all the lose ends together. That is a show that I wish would be brought back on like pay tv

I think you are confusing Being Human with Almost Human.

I think you are right. Ooops! The problem with reading in chunks ...

Just started watching Defiance -- pretty good production quality!
