That was sort of my point.

I think Dames is a complete waste of time. He has done nothing but be wrong and claim vague predictions as hits. I think he is a waste. I agree that Reed was a bad interview but the first time I heard the story on coast, I really enjoyed it. Didn't believe it, but it was a fun listen.

Not every shows going to be a home run. I liked the fact art took chances with guests like reed, bugs, victor, etc. some of his best shows.

I asked Noory one time what his best show was. He responded all of them. Isn't it odd, there is not one Noory show that's a "classic".
I did read an article in which noory said the most interesting show he did was with Benjamin creme and noory got sick. Noory said he thought creme would be anti-Christ.

If Reed had been a one off like Bugs then I wouldn't have a problem with that. I love a tall tale especially if it is told well. That's why I love the magic and unpredictability of mid to late 90s open lines. The first Mel's Hole episode was amazing and still is to this day. The second one was just ridiculous. At least he wasn't trying to sell us stuff.

What about all the HAARP stuff that Art, uh, kept harping about.  I can't remember who got him riled up about that one.

Yep, spot on.  It's not just about whether the guest is fake or not, obviously most of them are.  There's a lot more to it than that.  The original Reed show is pretty good, however he just kept coming back and coming back and oh there's more to his story, he has an artifact, and there's even more the alien is visiting him.  Reed hasn't been spooky, creepy, et al nor interesting in the least for fifteen years.  "Mel" really ruined his story by coming back and talking about a dismorphic seal thing.  They shatter all credibility, you lose your ability to suspend your disbelief, and they just become bores you wish you weren't listening to again.

It's fun listening to an unknown tell you a creepy story you've never heard before.  It's not so fun listening to a known fraud blather for four hours.

That eliminates 90% of the guest.

Also take into account subject matter. You may think psychic vampires are 100% true.

Everyone knows that only 1/2 of all vampires are psychic.

Moron.

You get a good sense of how good the "hits" are by the remote viewers when you hear Dames or whoever in July or August of 2001 not make any predictions or see anything coming soon in September 2001. I can't who it was but there was a replay of a show, and no mention of the obvious. You'd think their team would be getting crazy hits.

add Dr Robert Ghostwolf the fake indian
the Arts parts bicycle chain guy
the entire 2012 crew

I guess that would only leave Michio Kaku as the only legit guest

There were quite a few who were good. I always enjoyed the time traveler shows. Very interesting to speculate and think. Much more than Snoory does.

Ghostwolf really grated on me too.  Art has lots of legit guests, and they end up being some of the best shows.  Recent examples from DM being Kaku, Shostak, Alper, Faddis, etc.

Good point. At the time, all I did was ask by snail mail if the diamond (carbon) bomb had been created yet. I thought the hydrogen bomb already made in the mid 60's I knew about then (would kill >90% of all life in North America) was small potatoes and wanted my Country Fries served w/onions & sweet peppers next to my scrambled eggs too for breakfast.

Heard Alex Jones making fun of him on the second hour last Friday's show.  Even though apparently he had no idea who the fuck "Michio Coo Coo" was.

funny Ed Dames never said anything about remote viewing the unrest in the Ukraine what with him living there part time

Looks like you're more the victim of that false belief.

I listened to the show as a child on the road with my father. It's amazing to see the things people were being called crazy for are things we see more and more in the mainstream media these days. That always left me with a healthy respect for at least hearing out what a guest might have to say.

Sometimes it just seems so obviously a big pile of pooh but if nothing else there's the entertainment value and the platform where things of any nature could be discussed. Even in the craziest stories there's something for us as the listener to take away at the end if we desire. Much like you may not agree with the majority of another's personal beliefs but you do find some common ground on a few things and take away what good you can.

I've been more than tempted to jump in and get creative more than once but never have done it. I've got a face for radio and a voice for silent movies so I avoid putting myself out there that often. I did have this really great theory that a portal was created in the center of the water as a toilet was being flushed where energy could sometimes escape that could explain why sometimes there's a splash up when you flush and other times there isn't. Makes me giggle to think about it but no way could I present that with a "straight face".
