Is anyone but us going to give a shit?
How the hell is art going to make any kind of living off this?

odd are he will not come back.  He's a millionaire - no money concerns.

A) No; and not all of those.

B) He's opening a chain of fast food restaurants, specialising in insects. This to run in conjunction with a venture into undersea hotels that will be only accessible via submarine.

Art's coming back to host the C2C New Year's Eve prediction show.  Well, at least according to the Premiere Radio website for SIT. ;)

Look's like he'll be doing Ghost to Ghost, too!  No wonder Premiere doesn't seem to have a clue about Noory.   ::)

George is moonlighting as the new host for:  "No Things Considered".  Look out NPR!

If Art thought his Sirius audience was small and still thinks internet streaming is a better option then he better count the crickets in the audience to boost the audience numbers for Bob Cranes bean counters.

I'll listen if he makes a return. He'll I'd even pay for it but I think he's done which is a shame because he was rocking it with DM.

that's how i see it, too.  internet broadcasting might be the future, but it's not the present.  only a select few have managed to garner enough audience exclusively online to call themselves big.   it requires a lot of time, dedication, and effort, none of which i think art is interested in putting forth.  that's not a criticism of him.  it's just an observation after watching how the sirius gig fell apart.  i still can't even believe i had to type that last sentence.  just unbelievable.

He doesn't need the money at this point.  I think he stepped back into it with the best of intentions.  But I think he lost more momentum than he realized over the 10 years he was gone.  And, when confronted with the technical limitations of Sirius, he realized building it back up to what it was in its prime was going to be more work than it was worth for a guy approaching 70.

We seem to be in a transitional period where traditional media is turning to shit and the new media doesn't quite measure up for people like art.

Very well stated.

Similar developments are going to happen in the gaming industry with 'indie' games representing "streaming radio".

The Old ways are dying (but still trying to hang on) and as more and more content is being put out and the cost to reach an audience in a professional way is vastly decreasing- Thosse numbers of old (in sales or listener-ship) are a thing of the past.

Streaming IS the future. But anyone who thinks they will get overnight A.M. Radio type numbers is fooling themselves. The 'Media" (and other industries) have always been very controlled and 'gated'- Those gates are down. The choices out there in every form of content is expanding exponentially and the internet is cataloging everything giving us even MORE choices.

Imagine the crazy amount of content that will be available on any  subject in the next generation. There will be 20+ years of shows on every topic along with all the 'new' stuff to listen to as you please and only the specific topics you find interesting. Had we had the internet (in the way we currently do) back in the 1990s there would have been many nights I would have skipped listening to Art in lieu of a topic which I found more interesting- Sadly,, I would have missed learning about things which I later found out DID interest me.

The World is becoming 'tailor made' and 'customized' for everyone- This means less numbers (sales or listenership)will have to  be acceptable to everyone and considered a 'success' .
