Just like before Dark Matter, files of old shows. Listening to Mad Man Markham.

I have found it extremely difficult to listen to my collection of old shows since Dark Matter went belly up. It's like when you breakup with someone you sometimes can't stand to listen to your shared "song". For some desperadoes that's all they can do. Not accusing you, onan or anyone else, of being a desperado. ;)

Personally I just can't listen at the moment. For the past, god knows how many years, I have had Art playing on random in the car but these past two weeks I've been listening to some Sirius music stations (locked in for 5 more months) or some Aussie terrestrial talk radio (yawn).

Nothing compares to your first love. No one else even has a chance.

This desperado has been pining away, listening to some old Art shows.  Checked one out from '97 on nanotech which I really enjoyed, and I was like How can a 15-years-out-of-date futurism show be so damned compelling?  Will probably check out the Knapp show tomorrow nite.

I am over my emotional reaction to Art and his departure. I have no power to control what Bell does. And not listening to what I have enjoyed because I am disappointed is the same as cutting off my nose to spite my face.

I add that I have seen several posts discussing replacements for Art. That reminds me of all my friends in the 70's telling me how Badfinger sounds just like the Beatles. I have to agree there was some similar sound, but they weren't the Beatles. So I listen to old Bell shows.

I guess I am just still too emotionally attached to listen to my old flame. Going back to the "our song" analogy it's like I think I'm over the breakup and then "our song" comes on the radio and I'm bawling, crawled up in the fetal position rocking back and forth. That's the way I feel about Art. Like you I can't control who Art sees now that we are "on a break" however the wound is still fresh and I just need some more time to heal before I move on and contemplate life without Art.

It doesn't help that I get messages from him that he is in the process of working things out and we "may" get back together ..... :)

Wintermute

Local guys are about all I'll listen to for talk. I'll catch C2C when the guest is interesting, but usually not live. Just record the show and podcast it later.

SiriusXM, BBC, NPR, and of the financial news... unless I am on a longer drive, then I try music channels. But really, XM talk I just don't tune it much.

fave

Listening to old streams on tunein or Michio Kaku radio show.

Was listening to audio books.

Thanks to Etouffe's tip, I will be listening to the Hendrie stream out of Redlands from now on.

HorrorRetro

I haven't been able to listen to vintage C2C replays since the DM fiasco. I'm not sure I'll ever get back into them.  This past week, I've been listening to podcasts from http://theunexplained.tv/ and http://mysteriousuniverse.org/.  Both shows have some decent material and good hosts.  Last night, I fell asleep to Handel on the Law, which is always entertaining.

I'm pretty much in the same boat..

Same as before DM, old streams of C2C with Art. Missing the "Fine Arts" stream site, that was the best selection I had found. Too bad they got a cease and desist order.

Are there any sites that I can download or select title stream most of Art's old C2C shows?
I already know about YouTube, U7 and Internet archives.

I dislike Howard Stern and picked XM over Sirius back in the day just to avoid the guy, so not that.

Lots of sports, podcasts on real hardcore science, and classical music - truth be told.  Boy, I am boring.

Same here.  If I didn't know any better, I'd think it was all Art's secret plan to kill PremRat's broadcasting of "Somewhere in Time."   ::)

Dark Matter...Shows are saved for 30 days on my XM Lynx...listening as much as possible before its all gone.

Juan

I find myself unable to listen to the old shows, too.  I'm trying to actually work at my business and make money.  I know that makes me a greedy capitalist.

Spinner

I'm happily listening to Art's old shows, mainly from the 90s.
My collection has grown in the past couple of months. so I have plenty of "new" shows (= that I haven't heard in years). Between that and the SIT shows still airing, I get my AB magical pleasure almost every night.

I have all the DM shows saved, but I don't think I'll be listening to those for a while because I already heard them twice, so they're still very fresh in my mind.

karios8

Aside from Knapp's show, I've been cured and generally go to bed about the time c2c starts

Yep good analogy.  I've lost track of all the supposed "new Dylans" that have come and gone over the years as well.  Hence I just keep returning to the old albums.

Coast to Coast when a good guest can carry the show. But when numerology, new age wackos and vitamin salesmen are on something novel like
MUSIC. something classy and classic like Emmylou Harris, Gordon Lightfoot and ELO.

As i'm in my car everyday from 4am-5 i guess its time to put the satellite radio back in the house and get back into am radio, choices in my area is George Noory and a show that basically has callers call in and describe their dreams or some rightwing talk radio,Jerry Doyle was on last time i listened,
Maybe i;ll just listen to the wind and the car motor.

The NHL station on XM. Joe Rogan's Podcast. Lots of CBC.

Definitely no Noory, and no old Art either. If Art is able to get going again, listening to old Art shows might hold some appeal. Right now, I would just be frustrated/sad if I listened to classic Art.

Instead of listening to old Art Bell shows, I'm out there doing 'things' that can be talked about on future Art Bell shows...

Hi Gals and Guys!

We have a pretty good pod cast of all things paranormal and political here:

http://thesecretteachings.info/

Under secret teachings archive old pod casts I think you will enjoy! :)

I've been listening to the sounds of my own screams as I try to fall asleep at night.

I had set up my beading table this fall looking forward to spending the long winter nights listening to Dark Matter.  I haven't sat down to bead since Art left. ;(

While I didn't waste money on SiriusXM (thankfully), I did spend $200 on a little red UE Boom Bluetooth speaker to listen to Art on my iPhone.  I don't regret this purchase at all!  The sound is incredibly good, and I've been exploring the plethora of streaming Internet shows--music & talk, all FREE, no subscription.  TuneIn has many good shows from around the world; live & archived radio and podcasts.

I also wandered into a used bookstore and bought a copy of the classic Earth Abides, which I can't remember ever reading in spite of my love for classic SciFi...pulled out my boxed set of The Outer Limits...watched Parkland (depressing, as I expected)...but still haven't given up on Art's return.  I think he'll be back sooner than later.
