Art Bell Online...

This article from SiriusBuzz has been making the rounds this morning and I would like to address it...  http://siriusbuzz.com/art-bell-leaves-siriusxm.php

This article directly implies that Art Bell will be continuing online in some fashion. Some folks here have put the kybosh on this article saying that it is a hoax or a slice of B.S.

Just so that you are all aware, the author works for Seeking Apha. Seeking Alpha is a news feed for market investors. http://seekingalpha.com/author/spencer-osborne

So the author does have a real job and is not a crack-pot. I am not saying that he could be wrong, but as a professional journalist he would be apt to write things correctly.

Except that there's not attribution for the statement that Art will be back, online.  Without attribution, it sounds like the reporter made it up.

I guess we shall see... but I would bet money on Art Bell eventually making a statement about his future pursuits.

Why bother ? Who would believe it anyway ?
What did William Copper use to call him , Art BS Bell

Wonder if he realizes how bad he made himself look

I can't imagine that there's going to be that many people left who care after all of this.

Wintermute

Oh... I think there would be people interested in a live stream + podcast if:

1. It was on a regular schedule.
2. It didn't cost more than $5.
3. It was more interesting than the XM experiment.

There are TONS of personalities that people have negative feelings for that do quite well on the live stream + podcast networks. And I do think a well placed, regularly scheduled podcast is more accessible to people than either satellite or AM radio.

The biggest factor: Art Bell is old. His audience is on the older end of the talk radio spectrum. That audience generally is tech adverse. So it comes down to whether Art or his audience are willing to bridge the gap to make things really happen again.

There's a non-compete in his Sirius contract, so he can't do anything else until that expires.

No.  I would not pay five bucks to listen to him.  Not after this.  He'd have to be playing on Sirius at the same time.

Let him do it for free, for the love of the thing, as he puts it.  I don't like feeling taken and I'm nobody's fool.

I'll be more than glad to pay art $5/mo for streams and access to archives.

From Art himself earlier today - post #2374 in the Art Bell Quits thread

Yes I have a NC, so either we make up or I have to stay off. It was a two Year contract and 75k was my big money. Trust me this was for love,
not money. I was only contracted for 3 Hours, I did 4 because I love it, not because I had to. Part of the reason for the last straw was
a post on here saying that Spooky matter was the weakest ever, it was and would have gotten worse. I depend on and always have
open line talk radio, some of the best shows I ever did came from all of you NOT regular Guests. I have always loved the truckers but that
just that was not going to be viable, it would not carry the show. If you listened closely I think you know I am right.

                                                                                                                                    Art

Sadly if not already mentioned new radio contracts have no compete contracts unless he does it for free till the no compete lifts but I'm afraid when this lifts it's over and he will be ready to be done. Like Opie and Anthony said this morning Art needs to come back and be patient. He needs to give it time because satellite is different beast altogether. People have to pay for the service and those who don't know how to use it just need to get a book for dummies on computers then or something because I never had a problem listening to arts show but his people had problems because well sorry you guys are older generation. Plus I HIGHLY doubt you left because of the tech. It a due to the cost each month. Let's be honest shall we. If you can't pay for satellite then that's that. Art needs to come back and just give it time. Allow the illegal pirating cause that's how you spread your show worldwide just ask O and A fans in Australia cause they listen via YouTube. Art come back please.

Spooky Matter

Jesus this entire thing is just bizarro.  I am in awe, I don't know of what, but it def feels like awe  :-\

I don't think Art needs to be all that worried about what William Cooper thought about him, as the latter was a raging drunk who died in a shootout with the Feds over his tax bill.
