Sycophancy has no bounds... Depressing really. :-\

It's sad that such posts depress you so much. Do you take medication? Go to counseling? Today, there are so many ways for you to get help!

I didn't say they depressed me; I said the sycophancy was depressing, as a state. As for meds; s'okay, I'm sorted for them..which begs the question: Are the sycophants?

Well, as a practicing Art Bell sycophant, let me address that question to the best of my ability:

I object. I want to cross examine the defendant: You...Yorkshire pud

Ha ha... I'm a twuuu Brit and Yorkshireman. Art Bell comes waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy down my list of fandom. It wasn't near the top before, but since he's revealed his twuu colours, it's lower.

ROBERTS

Now here's a forward thinking concept...start an independant streaming network. Hmmmm....I like it!
Art must realize he has an instant push button built in audience of millions just waiting for directions.
This could be the solution..

Little Chris I think your instincts are right. I think he should be banned. Its one thing to be unhappy, disappointed, pissed off and let down. Its another to drop to the level that he did. He was just desperate to win. Even if it meant being verbally abusive toward Art. He needs to be dropkicked

I would be keen to hear Art's take on this one.  As a talk show host, he used the dump button far less than most of his contempararies.  That was one of the things I admired about his shows, Art's guests and callers got their say even when their say was unpopular, in poor taste, beyond the norm, or just plain stupid.  My opinion of Art is that he is a staunch believer in the First Amendment, in fact I think an arguement could be his livlihood depends on him being able to exercise those self-same rights.  That's not to say he might not want to take a swing at a couple folks here on a purely personal level, but I don't see Art being in favor of censoring even the crassest of our lot.

Lord Kirshner?

DING DING DING DING!

You are right, sir!

It is Lord Kitchener.

I found the image at this website:
http://www.city-journal.org/2008/18_4_otbie-british_character.html

Here's an apropos quote from the article that describes the "British" nature:

"...The British seemed to her self-contained, self-controlled, law-abiding yet tolerant of others no matter how eccentric, and with a deeply ironic view of life that encouraged them to laugh at themselves and to appreciate their own unimportance in the scheme of things. If Horace Walpole was rightâ€"that the world is a comedy to those who think and a tragedy to those who feelâ€"the English were the most thoughtful people in the world. They were polite and considerate, not pushy or boastful; the self-confident took care not to humiliate the shy or timid; and even the most accomplished was aware that his achievements were a drop in the ocean of possibility, and might have been much greater if he had tried harder or been more talented."

As well, the article's author, later writes that the British character has "changed":

"Gradually, but overwhelmingly, the culture and character of British restraint have changed into the exact opposite. Extravagance of gesture, vehemence of expression, vainglorious boastfulness, self-exposure, and absence of inhibition are what we tend to admire nowâ€"and the old modesty is scorned. It is as if the population became convinced of Blake’s fatuous dictum that it is better to strangle a baby in the cradle than to let a desire remain unacted upon.

Certainly, many Britons under the age of 30 or even 40 now embrace a kind of sub-psychotherapeutic theory that desires, if not unleashed, will fester within and eventually manifest themselves in dangerous ways. To control oneself for the sake of the social order, let alone for dignity or decorum (a word that would either mean nothing to the British these days, or provoke peals of laughter), is thus both personally and socially harmful.

I have spoken with young British people who regularly drink themselves into oblivion, passing first through a prolonged phase of public nuisance. To a man (and woman), they believe that by doing so, they are getting rid of inhibitions that might otherwise do them psychological and even physical harm. The same belief seems universal among those who spend hours at soccer games screaming abuse and making threatening gestures (whose meaning many would put into practice, were those events not policed in military fashion)."

Changed the spelling, knew it was wrong.

If you are not familiar with him, you might consider researching Jackie Fisher.  To my mind, Fisher was the greatest Brit of the past two centuries.

LONG LIVE HARRY GOZ!
--NEVERMIND-- thought Harry was Nick Diamond on CDM - but RIP non the less Harry...oh Captain Murphy you sultain of the sea you!

Picture this if you will.

Art Bell the late night terror talk show host in the left corner. George Noory with his Pizza rolls in the right. Judge Mills Lane signals them to come out to the center of the squared circle "lets get it on" The fight of words begins!!!

George waddles over to the Judge,

"hey Judge do you mind if i name drop  you on my show tomorrow?"
Art: " THAT'S MY SHOW YOU PEACE OF BORING FUNGUS"

George: "what do youuuuuuuuu mean its your show i gave head to so many primerats to get that seat, even Tommy had to get some aaaaction"

Art: taking George's cook book whacks him up side his head leaving a really be dent. "As father Martain would say you have just been exorcised."

JC out in the audience screams abruptly "HOW DARE YOU MR. BELL"

Back to the action in the ring as we find George and sitting on top of Art I'm the king of pizza rolls crown on his head.  "ladies and gentleman please buy my 2 books "Worker in the light" and my new "Cook book".

Just then from the top of the stadium drops down a UFO and slams into George's thick head. the leader steps out and starts bitching in an alien tongue.  George looks over and gives a shout out to Richard Dryfus as Art slaps the fat headed king off of him.  "damn you dave you never pay attention. First off I have writen several books which were far better then your 2 boronic books, and by the way where the hell is your brain dave, you work at night not in the day"  Just then Art grabs a box of pizza rolls and rams them down Georges mouth.   Dick Hog Shows up laughing his butt off at these too but when they both look and see he's laughing he says "ohhh I'm not laughing at either of you." Then a thought bubble appears, i better stop this or they will know i think there both dunces as Dick yells out Walter it was Walter i was laughing at you know Cronkite the guy who show i was on 3 billion years ago  me and Walter yes me and Walter i was laughing at Walter"  After some very dramatic events in the ring (you fill in the blanks)  Art delivers his ever amazing Pizza Punch to George and Tommy both and wins the death match!!!

Wonderful idea!!!
Couldn't some of the many talented BellGabbers organize such an event?
I'd fly half away around the country to be there.
Heck I'd even pay Falkie's fare to get there.
This would about as good as it gets.
A fan appreciation and paranormal extravaganza to honor Art.

Art's many past guests would be honored to get an invitation.
