if george has an ulterior motive around here, and that's IF he does (which, frankly, i doubt), then it would be to destroy the forum.  unlike the fantastic forum, we're not going going to start purging certain posts for the purpose of getting shout outs on a radio show.  thus, if anyone has concerns in this regard, forget it.  have some dip.

I think noory is getting a clue that you won't censor and or delete posts. But I also think he can still do some damage by splitting the members. Many times it isn't that difficult to begin with.

I don't think noory thinks he is a bad guy... not many people think themselves bad guys.

But we do have evidence in his own words that he can be vindictive. And he is not below deriving some pleasure by having us at each other's throats.

MV/Liberace!

and besides, i never got to ask if he wears brut by faberge.

I am not a fan of Mr. Noory. I think he is a company man and a tool to the end, in the great tradition of Jay Leno, Rick Berman, et al. I hate what Coast has become under his watch, particularly its transmogrification from a primarily supernatural/paranormal show with occasional conspiracies to a fringe-right-pandering show which, when it does cover paranormal topics, does so from a vapid, shallow, New Age perspective. And I think the criticisms of his interviewing styles, his lack of prep/research, his pandering to the LCD, and his general lazy/phoning it in are valid and overall speak volumes about the man and his abilities.

I've given him credit when I felt it was due. I feel in his first 2-3 years on Coast, he wasn't as bad as he's since become. I believe the reason for that is primarily because Art was still doing weekends and probably exercised at least a degree of influence, if not control, and Noory was still respectful/intimidated. And also, the listener base at that time was still primarily the one which Art had built. So Noory had to be on his toes. But as Art dwindled down to 10-15 shows a year and then quit altogether, Noory has "made the show his own", to the loss of everyone who cares about quality radio of any kind (nevermind quality paranormal radio).

I also gave him credit for coming here into the snake pit, and appearing on MV's podcast. That was ballsy. Part of me says, "He's a multi-millionaire with a multi-year contract, so what does he have to lose by engaging with the 'enemy'?" On the other hand, what does he have to gain? Even the "good PR" explanation doesn't really hold up when you look at the size of the corporate muscle behind him. A few hundred, even a few thousand, Art Bell fans don't hold up to the millions of listeners at Clear Channel's beck and call. (Unless there is more going on behind the scenes than we are aware of.)

Whatever else he may be, he's human, I'm sure he's as complex as anyone else, including Art--and certainly, he has his own agendas and motivations.

My conclusion is that it's all psychological. Either he *enjoys* playing the game and baiting us, or else he is driven by some compulsive need to explain and/or prove himself to the people who profess to hate him most. (Remember the old adage that you can get 100 compliments but it takes only one negative comment to wipe them all out.) I'm no psychologist, but I suspect he's deeply insecure, and that one negative comment bugs him more than 1000 compliments bolster him up.

Is he truly a "nice guy"? I honestly think he thinks so. I'm sure his mom thinks so. And met socially in a bar or someplace, I'm sure he'd shake your hand and smile and hold the door for you. But there's a difference between "nice guy" and "good person". But I'm not going to try to parse all those split hairs. Ultimately, it's between his own conscience and whatever Higher Power may exist.

And since actions do speak louder, clearly, to me, he's neither a nice guy nor a good person, at least when it comes to what he is endorsing, tacitly or otherwise, when it comes to how his company is treating Art. (Nevermind what may be said behind the scenes.) And his own actions re: Art, specifically in the Oates matter, speak volumes. I absolutely don't blame Art for withdrawing his "nice guy" view of George.

And the irony here is that George and PremRat/CC have lost the PR battle, for sure, and if anything, have created the very monster they feared (as in #freeartbell). That's usually how it goes, isn't it?

I love Art Bell more than I hate George Noory, in fact, I don't hate Mr. Noory. You won't find me spewing the vitriol his way as some other here do. Because even though I agree that "George Noory Sucks", I'm here as an Art Bell fan, not a George Noory hater. I realize to some that's one and the same, but to me, supporting the positive is way more important than piling on the negative. Because if you support the positive, ultimately, the negative will just fall away like the dead, useless skin it is.

An interesting well thought out post. To be honest I usually skip posts that are this long but this caught my attention, you make some good points.

No concerns here, MV, with BellGab.  You've made your position clear previously and I respect you for it.  However, I trust Mr. Noory about as far as I could throw him.  I mean other than he's such a swell guy and all.  ;D

As I said, don't think you can win the pissing contest when you don't have anything they want. Most who will quit over this already have. You've seen how concerned SiriusXM was over this: they weren't.

He wants to be on Gabcast again to explain further his position since Art had his say and now he wants his own ...again...idk
but didn't Noory email MV and demand the George Noory Sucks thread be removed as a condition for him to be a guest on GabCast in the future?  8)

......snip..........

If it made business sense (listeners) to fix all of the supposed problems, SiriusXM would have.

That NC that Art signed cuts both ways. They have to provide the infrastructure they promised. Unless they wrote a contingency and why would they imply they couldn't provide the efficient platform they tout?

Now I should leave and go buy some more Alka Seltzer Cold stuff since my last medicine is wearing out and I'm getting partially coherent..

Sorry to bug you guys, bye......

but people can rationalize bad behaviors.

Art Bell is the fucking talk radio GOAT.
Sirius holding him to that non-compete after misleading him about worldwide streaming is spiteful and malicious. Sirius LIED, and Art will be free.

he retracted that.

Ok. I just had a very interesting conversation with some one in programming named Charles.

I explained I was a customer and when dark matter was off the air I cancelled and that if Sirius is t going to bring art back then they should free him.
He said they had received an email recently that said to expect phone calls about this and that the official position is that he is not coming back. However he said that was the same position in regards to coast to coast and one of the reasons they brought it back was due to the demand.

He then explained that the company has excell spread sheet where they are documents inc all instances of people calling, emailing, or tweeting about dark matter and art and that the spreadsheet is so long it takes him a minute to scroll to the bottom and every few minutes it gets longer.
He also said today alone he had received countless phone calls about art bell since the switch board doesn't know what to do with all the phone calls. I then asked him if he's ever had to deal with anything like this and he said he's NEVER seen a response like this for a show being off Siriusxm. He said anything is possible and who knows what could happen.

The guy was frank and honest with me because I was nice to him and respectful. If you aren't calling in yelling it makes it easier to get information since these people are dealing with this so much.

So for all the people saying this isn't helping, get bent. It is and it will help if we continue it.

How a radio network will look at this: Awesome, so not only is Art a prima-donna, but his fans are a nuisance too. Can you not see how counter productive this is? I get what you're trying to do. I do. Making yourself a PITA only reinforces that Art & his audience ain't worth the trouble.

One thing someone might do is figure out how to write this story up for mainstream media. They'll all copy and paste it once it's a story, but it has to hit right on the juicy bits for them to care.

Stuff I'd focus on:

Beloved broadcaster versus a typical big corporation (and how the corporation is behaving against their own best interest)

The incredible fan interest in Art Bell and quote some of people's impassioned pleas for him to keep going

Sirius' glaring inabilities to adapt to the times. Broken streaming, no worldwide access, how even cancelling is a big phone ordeal.

How Noory the creeper got in on it with his Leno-esque dick moves and how the man has a billion haters on the internet

etc... Just food for thought. If it hits the general media then Sirius can't pretend they don't know what people are talking about.

Somebody could turn this entire situation into a thesis for a business or psychology degree.  Or a series on the SyFy channel.  ;)

I hope you feel better soon!

One problem: Art walked out and thereby deleveraged himself. If he was still on the air, had and audience and paying subscribers, you'd be on to something.

You're missing one aspect of this...
Art's fans = lost and/or dissatisfied Sirius customers.
It's not like we're picking on a random network.

You couldn't be more off base. Sirius makes their living off of devoted fanbases. And they know devoted fanbases spend money.
You're wrong. This is helping.

Art's listeners have money to spend.  That alone is enough for siriusxm to care.
