Hey IO, yes, I am the one with the ent. atty friend and my very long winded post yesterday (thanks for reading) about his professional thoughts on the subject. He said the short tenure doesn't really help Art in one way or another due to the fact it went over his 30 day 'out', however he did say that since they waived his contract after 40+ days that would factor into also (eventually) letting go of his NC.

The thing that actually weighs the most is that he cited 'streaming' problems to sxm and they never fixed them and yet Art has that 'streaming' wording in his contract...sxm could be held in breach. Another thing my friend cited was that Art came back to the table to work with sxm and offered sxm exactly what c2c has now with sxm...non-exclusive content streamed at other sites. He said that also should allow an out of his NC.

Bottom line, I know all this legal jargon can begin to make all our eyes start to cross...but my friend truly believes (without looking at the specifics of Art's contract) that in the end the NC will be a NON ISSUE (they are truly hard to enforce) and that sxm is just huffing and puffing and trying to hold out as long as they can...that is why it is imperative that Art take the 'fight' to them! He will get out of the NC...just a matter of time! :)

Art clarified that he didn't have the first 30 days to opt out of his contract, but he could opt out ANYTIME as long as he gave 30 days notice, regardless of how long the show had been running.  He gave 30 days notice, but they said, nope, you can leave now.  THAT'S the 30 day thing.

I remember hearing this one night. I remember it well, coming through my clock radio over AM. The static in the signal would punctuate his dramatic pauses. That quote stuck with me.

He's probable read it a few times

Hmm, the Art Bell pirate dirigible.
He could fly it to DC and terrorize Sirius and then on to NYC to go after Premiere.

Hey, thanks.  By the way, Art clarified that the 30 day period was a just a contractual requirement to provide 30 days notice prior to leaving at anytime during his contract.  Sirius waived the 30 day notice requirement when Art provided his notice.

I don't always listen to internet legal info, but when I do, I'll listen to you.  ;)

Wow. I just checked SiriusXM's fb page. It's been taken over by Free Art Bell. Hahaha..love it.

I'm telling you, Art knew what he was doing when he made that "quip" last night. Heh heh.

I feel kinda bad. They might get annoyed and fight back harder. :<

There isn't much they can do if it turns into a legal match

Yeah, I guess. I'm just sort of non confrontational... as surprising as it may seem.  ;D

*Which sucks because I'm sort of in a battle and all I can do is murmur quietly, hoping no ones feelings are hurt. :<

Nope, we just won't relent. The power of social media. Hell, it took down Gaddafi!

I still have a SiriusXM account that came with a new vehicle purchase. I am going to call into all of their shows whether it be sports, entertainment, politics, hell even garden or car talk and demand they Free Art Bell.

I've been thinking about a segment with that crazy cat astrologer. Load up the calls with Tertiary Imam to talk Cat Magick, I'll be on another line as Maryanne Rhinesmith.. I'd have to have my comedian friend co-host though, so I could get to the phone... I'll give out the numbers when I record it so you guys could call too. Have you ever heard what Opie & Anthony do with authors?
Actually I've just started listening to Opie & Anthony but I really enjoy what I've heard so far. I kind of understand why Sirius splits up the O&A and Stern channels. If you like one chances are you will also like the other, so splitting them means more subscription profits. I found them on youtube from their hilarious impression of Michio Kaku, so I'm not really sure what their approach to authors is. But I'm looking forward to being surprised! :)

And thanks, sounding prepared what I aim for. If you don't do your prep, you're treating your listeners like idiots & telling the guest, ehh, just do the segment for me. It's so fucking lazy, and it drives me even more insane when I hear it on that "other" show now.
Well, I'd pick DW over that "other" show any night of the week for what it's worth.

Don't worry I will continue to challenge George directly in the GNS subforum.

I'm still waiting on his response as to why he will not interview minorities or homosexuals on his show.

And I am still waiting for him to respond to the streaming problems with C2C

Paul...it CAN be done! I made it through 24 hours of pages.

You're wrong, it is, " Extinguish your radio!"

And finally, you guys are so incredibly funny and entertaining... What say we hoist the new #free Art Bell pirate flag and take a cruise together?! (After we get Art his gig back and he needs a vacation, that is) Red Wolf your legal advice is "spot on".

Could you even imagine all of us on a cruise together?! I'll do piano bar for free...

Jaz, my sister in law just got back from 3 weeks in Aus.  What a beautiful place.

They were drunk 80% of the time visiting the vineyards.   Rest of time spent looking at street Art.
...snip...
Anyways that's my local link to Australia.  I'm honestly surprised the officials didn't kick out or quarantine my brother in law.

Sounds like they were in South Australia,  Adelaide area and perhaps the Barossa Valley,
And with that in mind, the local officials probably bought the 2nd round!

I speak from experience.

But Aussies got sick of being typecast as Crocodile Dundee around the world.

I guess I will have to stop picturing you wearing a crocodile skinned jacket and hat and carrying a giant knife.

**Cease and desist received! ;D

It can be an Alaskan cruise. You can stand on shore and wave the #FreeArtBell flag.

If you have Facebook, use it as your profile pic. Or any other FREE ART BELL image. Spread the message.

Maybe use "Free Art Bell" as an e-mail sig.  Has potential, when asked and replied to, of involving lots of peeps.

However, being that Sirius is a company always on the cutting edge of technology, THEIR tin can is made out of titanium and the string from fiber optic.

With a kink in it.

Well, I could go. I would just have to hitch a gallon of hand sanitizer on my back... I hear the runs are common on cruises. 0.0

Personally, I always imagined Australia as a time warp to the United States summer of 1986.

Lots of neon clothing, scrunchies, BMX bikes

That's probably just brain pollution from more Australian movies.

Mysterious and reassuring.

Dave responding to C2C streaming problems.  Classic.  He's probably wondering why you asked him about problems with C2C swimming in a creek.  ;D

Art went on a cruise with Ramona, remember ?

It's time for you to do YOUR part.

Get a flag printed up with a pirate logo on it and FREE ART BELL on it and go plant it on either Mt. McKinley or the one with the active volcano on it.

Hmm, maybe we could all chip in and make some banners up and go on freeway overpasses like the Tea Party does and put up FREE ART BELL banners.

Or see if we can get that cropduster from Independence Day and buzz Sirius hq with it with a banner tied behind it that says FREE ART BELL.

Or if somone who knows someone working on the new WTC tower and ...
