Someone mentioned the idea of a Producer Paul show on SiriusXM. I can't get it out of my head, so in my warped little world here's how I envision calling in to it:

Producer: "And good evening. You're almost on the air."
Caller: "Is this the Producer Paul show?"
Producer: "Yes it is and I'm his producer and screener Ar....um Richard C. Hogue."
Caller: "Is this Art Bell?"
Producer: "No sir it is not. Richard C. Hogue here. At least until the non-compete runs out."
Caller: "Well, when will I be on the air?"
Producer: "In a moment, Paul's having a strange night. *Pink Floyd's intro to Time begins playing*. We're all having a strange night. The sun is erupting, WWV is barely audible. We're awash in radiation. There's a full moon. It's one of those nights. One of those strange, strange nights . . ."
Caller: *Click*

The next night . . .

Cheap weekend screener: "How are youuuuuuuuu!!!!!"
Caller: *click*

So when you sign a non-compete, is that an up-front lump sum, or is it a certain payout if you quit?
Do you think the new home studio Sirius built was payment for signing the non-compete?

I'm learning how to use Windows Movie Maker:

Amazing thing the power of technolgoy!

What is not to like about ABBA?

For a 13 year old boy at the time, they were fantastic.  Still are and the music is good too.  ;D

That's a good question. Hopefully art will come on tonight and let us pick his brains a bit more.

I don't want to pick his brain.

But I do want to pick through his garbage.

Cell phones.  The damn cell phones.  And Jess.
both my calls were on an iphone 5 and sounded plenty fine over regular att networks....andy on skype sounded fine over his iphone 5 from australia....so....i'd say it's the 70mph on the road callers using phones that don't work and never did!

iPhones always sound better because Apple is a premium product for excellent people.

Yeah. I bet art throws out whole cartons of Dulche de Leche cake just because they displeased him. He's probably got, like, lemon Marangue pies he only eats half of and he just throws them right in the trash!

Generally, a non compete is a standard part of a contract where you promise that is your association with the current employer ends, you promise you won't work or broadcast, in this case anywhere else for a specified length of time. If you do, you get royally sued and screwed.

is 6 week old product enough to say that your competition since they haven't continued the show with a new host, enough to bar Art from doing a similar show?

Well, SiriusXM could always bring on Gary Busey to host "Dark Matter". You think he'd have some pull being a celebrity and known in pop culture. He's seemingly more eloquent and passionate about the subject than Noory.

If anyone is wondering where the Art Bell broadcast location is, go to the satellite view of google maps and search for "Desert Lane, Pahrump, NV".

The satellite view is fairly recent, but I think the street view is a little old.  If you check out the street views from the surrounding streets, you can see the antenna fields Art used to talk about.

There are pics of the antenna and house up on s-meter and knye.com and other various sources.

Art, my family in Cebu survived also.  Part of her roof is gone, but the firewall next to her house must have helped them.  If the storm had gone just 20 miles further south, the house would be gone, and my family might have perished.  I am so thankful that I didn't lose them that I'm not letting myself be as upset as I want to be about you no longer broadcasting.  You've got a gift sir.  But, like you, I've had to live with delayed gratification, in my case not yet being reunited with my woman.  Art, what if you moved back to Manila, could you broadcast then, or would the non compete prevent you, what about the international aspect?  I know you love the Philippines just like I do, if moving back there would allow you to broadcast, go back.  My regards to your lovely family.

Do you have a Pug?

I have a 13 year old Pug named Blondie. She has been my constant companion since Jan 1st of 2000. She was a millennium baby. I lost her parents Tank and Pugsy not too long ago. I miss them dearly and think of them often. It's a shame such sweet little animals can't be with us longer. They are little angels, I am convinced of it.

Truckers are not allowed to have iPhones.  iPhones are for the beutiful people.

They can have a shitty nexus or something more appropriate to their education level and socioeconomic class.

Not to damper the mood of hope and pessimism combined in here, but this is awful news. The death toll from the typhoon in the Philippines will most likely get to 10,000 or more.

And there is another storm forming in the Pacific tonight....aiming for next week directly at the places hit this weekend..

Sadly, no, I don't have a pug. I'm allergic to all dogs. But, yes, pugs are the best sort of dog in the world. I'm sorry to hear Tank and Pugsy are gone. A pug brings so much beauty to the world, and when they depart that beauty --- I think --- still remains here, even if we can't see it.

Proud pug lover here too.  I currently have two, Sadie and Joey.  I lost my Elvis just over a year ago. Before that, we had Pugsy, who lived to be over 20 years old. I love all dogs, but pugs are special to me.

How is javascript?? Is it hard? Im still learning html and css.
Did I say JavaScript? Sorry I ment to say Java. Big difference sorry lol My head was in the clouds when I wrote that. Learning all of this turns your brain into mush by the end of the day. Java is very useful, but something you never really master because It's so vast. When combined with Ruby or Python, even PHP, it should be very handy.

Which part of Cebu? my step-mother and step/half brothers and sisters were born there as well.
I've only seen pictures, but talk about paradise. I believe they are from the city of Lapu-Lapu

Yeah, here's something I read:

“All systems, all vestiges of modern living â€" communications, power water, all are down. Media is down, so there is no way to communicate with the people in a mass sort of way.”

It's fucking awful. In all serious I do think the weather systems are getting progressively worse as time goes on. What it can be attributed to I don't know.
