It is perhaps the highest honor you can achieve on this board. It is the equivalent of being knighted by the queen. Not that MV is a queen or is he?

I've been away for a while and I'm not sure on which page of this thread to start in order to understand these pictures being posted.

Can somebody explain this new meme that's been going on?

Go to the members list and read all of Coz's posts. They're quotes from Coz placed besides obese males, often involving computers when possible. It was done in response to some of Coz's posts which could've been taken as un-necessarily condescending, arrogant and rude. It builds upon the idea of "Neck Beards" or certain members of society who're generally larger, very adept at computers and technology, have a passion for gaming, comics, Richard Dawkins --- that sort of thing.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I did a search and found Coz's original post, and I think I get it now.  ;D

Comic Book Guy is the classic archetype of this personality.  I think this clip from the Simpsons is quite apt

If you can use your mind and push intention into the big dicks at SiriusXM have at it.
While you are intenting, intent me a winning lotto ticket, please.

Well if you don't bake then get in the kitchen and intent me a sammich, damnit!
The road to hell is paved with good intentions, or so I've been told.

http://youtu.be/E5Adx0RXpvg

Joke all you want, but I've seen it work. Prayer is a form of intention and it works too. The more people doing it for someone else, the better it works. And no I'm not a religious nut. I've been using it for a long time for people I care about and it helps. My mother has had health problems for years and she's still here. She'll be 86 in Jan. when all her 9 siblings died in their 50's. It's not 100% but what is? The Princeton Eggs is a good example of this sort of thing except that's not consciously directed. Sorry, Lottery tickets are not what it's intended for. It's for selfless use. Works better for others than for ourselves. I haven't tried it for lottery tickets, and I don't intend to either. I have no special powers, I just listen and read about these kinds of things and learned a lot. Visualization helps a lot too. See the outcome in your mind and it helps it become reality. As for the road to hell, that's nothing more than a saying. You do have a sense of humor and you made me laugh, but what I said is true. Try it, you may be surprised but don't expect instant results. Like all good things, it takes time and effort. As for the other guy who said my priorities were wrong, they are not. It would take a lot more than the folks here to accomplish world peace or ending hunger or any of the other more important things. But we here might be just enough to help get Art back on the air.

This whole teasing of Coz with memes is a classic case of bullying.

Actually no. Read the studies. All of them refute prayer doing anything above a placebo effect and not doing it as well.

It's all well and good you want to feel better about yourself by thinking prayer is as effective as really doing something, but it isn't. Yeah it seems to always be trendy, but that is about it.

Look, I get it, so many do gooders want to help. It was just that actually learning physiology was too tough. Understanding the infection and immune process took away from having fun. Understanding how medications work would have been ok if there wasn't so much reading.

So let's believe that thinking nice thoughts does every bit as much to help someone infirmed.

Here's what I don't understand about the logistics of this whole thing.

If Art gets the stream up and running without the aid of Sirius, then he has limited his audience to those who can stream the show over the net. The audience that migrated to Sirius will be lost as the show will not be streamed to the vehicle audience through mobile radios.

I suppose that folks on the road can listen through a mobile device, but won't that be cost prohibitive? Without the vehicle audience Art is back to the streaming crowd though how many simultaneous listeners could stream is an open question.

Anyway first the argument was too many vehicles with cell phone callers. Now it seems there will be few if any, and an audience that will be limited by the capacity to stream. So wouldn't it have made more sense to stick it out with Sirius who is set to distribute the stream through web app and radio devices? I'm worried that if this does take off it may introduce more difficulties than sticking with Sirius.

I guess my question is, will this option REALLY be better than sticking with Dark Matter on SXM for the next three years and then proposing a move to be an independent broadcaster and exploring the stream then? Seems a bit counter intuitive to me.

Good logic, but your forgetting one thing. SXM is only in N. America. The web is worldwide. I'd say that far outnumbers the ones with car radios with SXM in them.

Really? not that I care to get into this fight, but Coz really did try his best to poke everyone that got near him. I don't necessarily think that is a bad thing. Not everyone is going to be king of the prom.

It was actually kind of fun watching an aggressive avoidant personality.

I think people are overestimating the size of the worldwide audience. Perhaps Art has a better account of it considering he probably gets emails from all over the world. Using Bellgab as a random sample shows that there's me and one or two others from outside the US and tasty Canada.

Believe me I want no part in this fight either. Perhaps the joke has gone one meme too far and if people want to fight over something not related to this thread then they should do so in their own thread where we don't have to witness the behavior or the recycling of the same joke.

No offence to the individuals involved as your on topics posts are valuable and that includes Coz's knowledge of streams.

No, the Ozzie's right. Coz doesn't deserve that kind of shit.

Onan, you're an idiot. Go back to your double wide and read your remote control manual. You should be ashamed. Weenies taste best wrapped in yellow cheese. You are an idiot.

By the way, because a lot of my attempts at humor go over people's heads, I'm actually in agreement with Onan on this one and I don't think Onan is an idiot in any sense of the word. The attempt at humor was to quote Coz back to Onan, as if I was saying it myself --- while, in fact, it was all Coz quotes. Thus:

"You're an idiot."

"Go back to your double wide and read your remote control manual."

"You should be ashamed."

"Weenies taste best wrapped in yellow cheese."

"You are an idiot."

These are all Coz quotes. So, don't take what I said to Onan literally. What I was doing here is sarcasm. Its very popular these days. It may even be ironic but I have no idea what irony is after a lifetime of enjoying Alanis Morisette. It's just a joke and I'd never call anyone an idiot --- not even in the protection of my own home.

Except Noory.

And a lot of old art Bell guests.

Oh shit. I guess this is flagrant hypocrisy on my part. Tertiary, you should be ashamed.

Man first I had tears, then angry tears, then understanding tears, then a slight feeling of acceptance. Then, I thought I had to start over to get the meaning, then I got tears... well you can see where this is going.

That's the most sociological explanation of neck beards I've ever heard. One problem - you forgot about their predilection to wear fedoras.

McPhallus

I think we have all dealt with the angry asshole computer nerd type, and they're infuriating.  I once knew one who was borderline psychotic. However, I'm not sure Coz really qualifies.  He did seem to know more than most about streaming, and those who argued against him seemed to do so out of emotion rather than knowledge.  We all want to see Art stick it to the man and do his own stream.

That being said... That meme is some funny shit. :)
