Where is Sirius HQ located? Just wondering what time their end of the day might be? Is there even a deadline for a decision or could this go on for a few weeks?

I feel like I am camping out in a sleeping bag waiting for the release of a new iPhone only when you finally get to the front of the line someone kicks you in the nuts.

Game of Thrones is fabulous:  one of the best shows on HBO.  I'm a huge fan of the books, and was so pleased when the TV show almost lived up to them.

I love it, the first season made me run through all the books in a couple weeks... I couldn't wait. :)

Your correct. Nada from the actual radios.

I'm confused:  if Sirius cannot determine how many people are listening to their car radios, then how do radio stations determine their ratings?  Or is this because Sirius is a satellite "radio" service?  Probably.

I wonder what the bar fines are running these days in the PI.
As of 3 years ago in Angeles City on Fields Avenue about $60USD for the "nice" clubs and top "dancers" or about $35USD for the regular "dancers" for a long time.
The not so nice places around $30-$40USD long time. Short time is a little cheaper of course. Ring the bell 3000-4000PHP.
The rest... "Is secret!"  :P

Who should Art's first guest be on his new show?

I'm voting for Al Bielek.

That would be the ghost of Al Bielek. He died a few months ago.

Krazykatlady

I've given up all hope that Art will return to the airwaves.  If (a big IF) he proves me wrong, I'll gladly let everyone say "I told you so".  But I am not expecting anything to change.  Total bummer!!!!!

Are you sure you weren't calling the Affordable Care Act phone number?

Haha :)

Feel like Sirius said NO and we are going to have some kind of wait(the full 2 years?)--that seems the most likely outcome especially with the clues we have.

If one good thing came out of Art quitting Sirius is that I got to sit back and watch a lot of crazy people come out of the wood work. Boy there is no shortage of them. I understand MV's fear of meeting any of us now. All I cant think is looney looney looney. Gabcon would be a most dangerous event I am sure haha.

I'm envisioning it would be like Comic-Con but the people really look that way in real life and they carry real swords and speak to each other in some kind of klingonesque rant language.

However on demand listeners do not hear commercials. Also they are unable to call into the show so as to contribute to the "caller base"

Well, I guess in their eyes that would make the On Demand listener less valuable to them; however, there are MANY of them, judging from the feedback in my FB group, and they are listeners to the show and should be considered part and parcel of the number of people who are listeners.  If the show's "ratings"/numbers depend JUST on people listening live, who can hear the commercials and perhaps call in as well, those numbers are going to be substantially lower, I think.

The only way Sirius will acquiesce is if they want Art THAT BADLY. Rest assured, no other broadcaster, save for Stern would be able to pull this stunt and have any hope of it working out in their favor.

Art, please take note of the above.  I think I make a valid point here.

INT - ART'S STUDIO - NIGHT

Art glances around at the new equipment Sirius gave him. He picks up a microphone and cradles it in his hands lovingly, a slight smile crossing his face before putting it down. He then walks to the center of the room, lies down and goes to sleep.

Cue music:

Would you care to summarize those clues?  Thank you.  I have trouble keeping up with this board and sometimes have to skim quickly and end up missing stuff.

I thinks its removing the shows archieved streams in 3 days, updated scheduled posting with jay thomas repeats replacing arts dark matter.

man.  i feel sorry for those girls.  fucking creepy foreign men for money can't be that great a gig.

half of them probably entered prostitution after being pressured by their families into doing so.  imagine living that life.

having said that, they're pretty hot and the price looks right.  cancel the above thoughts.

All of the shows Art did are set to expire ON DEMAND in 3 days, Dark Matter is off the schedule for next week, representatives of Sirius say Art is gone--that's what I remember off top of my head.

exiskorlan

I created an account just to say that I have never been a live listener. I found art back when Broadcast.com was repeating the show and signed up for Streamlink the very first day it was offered. I stopped paying for that show back when Ian quit and I started paying for Sirius when Art was on.

I hate the whole streaming format and will gladly pay for an MP3 download, I pay for mysterious universe today a really good podcast that filled the Art Bell hole while he was out. l. I will pay for archives but not for streaming when Art come back.

The Spooky Matter show was great and while some of the guests were so-so it I even listened to Hogland because Art is a great radio host.

It was really such a treat to have the stories I'd read and re-read for years come to life before my eyes, and pretty much live up to the visuals I'd already had in my head.  Jon Snow was particularly well casted, as were nearly all of House Lannister.

all of that seems pretty conclusive to me, sadly.

Art's name removed from the schedule.

Boilerplate customer service response stating Art is not coming back.

Archived episodes soon to become unavailable.

And now we're late in the day and no word from Art.

That covers it pretty well.  Thanks.  Now you've got *me* worried.   :(

I was just listening to the spec sheet and bateman's call in.  I think you guys were really close why to nailing it on the head about the guest art has had on. I agree that some of them were kinda dull, but this isn't 1990's anymore. Today we have so many different ghost shows and paranormal stuff on T.V. that its just kinda takes away from the magic of Cost and Dark Matter.  I loved hearing Art doing spooky matter but honestly when i hear any type of ghost shows anymore its kinda boring because I've herd them so many times that its just the same stories over and over the only difference is the person telling it. How many times can you hear hogland come up with new theories about mars lol. anyway that's my thoughts.

If Sirius is sufficiently pissed off about this, they'll just not respond to Art's latest offering, and just let this all slowly fall flat.  We won't be getting an official update.  But the clues from Sirius are pretty ominous.

Our only hope now would involve the combined forces of Mad Man Markham and John Titor to retroactively fix this.

Bonanza Pilot

I see Art is no longer logged in....so much for an update.

Amen to that! But as already mentioned, he is no longer with us in physical form.. The interview back in 93 was the one that had me hooked! I have listened in to the few shows he was on many times as I am a man of technology. Art impressed me with his knowledge in this interview and what a disaster when snoory had him on.

There is Al's last interview on youtube with some woman, sadly much of what he says is hard to understand after suffering multiple strokes in the years leading up to his death.

RIP Al, you were my favorite guest of Arts and turned me on to Arts show!

It was Art that was the draw as a master of the airwaves NOT the guests or subject matter alone--him doing it elevated the parts you see elsewhere.  Compare how anyone(and George!) does it compared to Art.
