The best thing for the listener is to have a show. He quit because of live streaming issues --- he says. Think about this for a moment: "If I can't have a glitch free show live, there'll be no show at all." Why? Because the callers are bad? Is there a single solitary soul in all of existence who would say, "If art's shit can't stream live glitch free then I'd rather it not exist!" or "If art keeps getting these blithering idiots for callers --- Bellgabbers not included --- then I'll just turn him off an go elsewhere." No. This makes zero sense.
Ditto on this post too.  You guys are good

My goodness I was watching a show on the DVR with my child Bride and come back to this?  Of course I am not going to commit sewerpipe, I said all that tounge in cheek and I did not say anything that was not said here and over and over, spread out over 106 pages or so. My skin as I age is indeed getting thinner but my public skin has never been thicker. I just thought you would like to see how the same words used here would sound coming from me. I have not changed my mind about free streaming and intend to make it a reality one way or the other. I have asked Sirius to allow me to act as a Private Broadcaster, then as other shows do, I could stay on Sirius and would be free to stream all I want.
If they go for that all will be well, It would mean no pay from Sirius but I am good with that, I do not need the money. If Sirius says no, then I will, at the first opportunity stream from artbell.com.

Again, I am sorry that some people invested in a radio or a stream and if a deal is not reached will have lost out. You do not know what
was going on behind the scenes for those six Weeks and if you did I think you might understand, or considering the makeup of some of this
group perhaps not, but I was trying to act in the interest of the listener, not myself.

I still love this board. There is something about the core group that is somewhat loveable and I still feel that way, I do know trolls when I see them, and I can guess where they slime in from. I am toying with the idea of new hours for the show....

There is only one good way to proceed and that is with a better product. That is what I intend to do.

It's those Human Beings, Art. They're a rowdy bunch. We highly evolved extraterrestrials thankfully rise above such nonsense. Anyway, glad to hear you're working on a solution. Maybe you should unplug for a while and get yourself into a flotation tank. Good night and please give my regards to the child bride ;-)

Art... this dude here, Georgie Porgie kicked your ass all over tonight.
George even had the balls to participate in the LIVE on-air show BellGab had going on.
He called in and although quite rehearsed.. he nailed it! Said the things that made sense. He even spoke with integrity and get this honesty!! wow... imagine that.
He defended himself against your alleged accusations of them poaching guests. He turned you inside out tonight Art.
George f'n had his game on hardcore. He was in the zone.
George rocked it! He turned a wasted situation into a instant George Noory classic.
He was figuratively a few feet behind the 3-pt line and draining trey's like butter.

George pwned Art.
Never thought I'd see that happen lol

Maybe George Noory would be a better C2C host if he only hosted one day per week--give him 6 days to reset his batteries and focus all of his energy on a single weekly show.
Maybe George Noory would be a better C2C host if he were the guest instead?

Glad your not going to commit sewer pipe Art! I know a few on here were terribly worried you were. Good thing you came back to say that. I can say even myself I have had some friends do that and it is indeed the worst thing in the world that could ever happen. Thanks Art! We all love you.

I have to ask did we use to talk when MV was on the air?  i know its been 3 years but your name looks familiar LOL. you and morgus i think.  and someone use to call in on his show all the time it was like his only caller LOL i think it was curtius i could be wrong who knows just asking.

This just came to mind in the midst of this:

"In the clearing stands a boxer,
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that laid him down
And cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame,
"I am leaving, I am leaving."
But the fighter still remains"

Art, be that boxer.

Be that fighter.

We love you (thought you knew that).

George has ascended into the inviolate realm of the immortal Gods. Very few of us will ever achieve this --- even in countless myriads of lives --- but George has done it.

What few of you realize is that George's family, the Noories, comes from an ancient Lebanese clan. Noory or Nuri in Arabic means "light". Thus, "workers in the light." This has some parallels to the Nusayri or Alawite sect of Syria --- of which Asad is a member --- and they practice a form of astral ascension, contacting various old deities in the form of various incarnated Imams, who represent the 7 traditional planets and 12 Zodiacal signs. These deities were also worshiped by the Gnostics and Egyptians. In a state of astral projection, one ascends the various spheres, giving a certain "password" to the deity. If it is the correct password, you get to pass to the next level. Many go insane at the higher spheres, having the wrong passwords, but Noory's clan has retained the passwords and Noory --- bless his soul --- has made it to the ninth sphere, beyond even the Zodiac. As such, he now wields measureless power and awe. If recent events are evidence of anything, they are evidence of the truth of these words.

I don't know about you folks but I'm beginning to worship him. I suggest you do the same.

I'm upset that this would be an issue in the first place and that Art apparently turned away from the show. But I can forgive this if there is more content delivered by Sirius XM in the future. If it turns out to be a show that did not take callers, I'd be fine with that. He did it with Dreamland and he could do it again in a new format.

Yes, many angry problems. But I'm more than willing to brush those aside if there would be more shows.

Until then, I will follow the wise-beyond years b_dubbs suggestions:
1.) Buy gold
2.) Storable food
3.) Tumeric & Carnivora

QAPete

Much respect to you for trying to do this the right way, Art, or not at all.  A couple of things, though.  Coming to SiriusXM after being on hundreds of terrestrial radio stations across the country *does* change the listener demographic.  Truckers simply are a larger percentage of the listener base there than on any given terrestrial station.  The total number of listeners to Dark Matter was likely also less than what you were used to on terrestrial simply due to the fact that is is a subscription service, rather than one that is "free" to all (supported by an inordinately large number of commercials).

Unless the show IS streamed for "free", it is unlikely that it will ever regain the listener base you were accostomed to, and will require more "heavy lifting" via interviews by you and, perhaps, guest segments like you used to do with Linda Moulton Howe opening up Dreamland.

I hope you find a way to make it back.   Radio is pretty awful anymore, and you were one of a very few bright spots again, if only for six weeks.  In my mind. you're the best interviewer radio has ever seen, as you LISTEN to your guests, ask THOUGHTFUL questions, and LISTEN again.  You have also been great with those "less than believable" guests, especially the respectful way you managed to "dismiss" them from the show when you had heard enough.

Best to you and yours as you deal with this, and thanks for showing up here to clarify things.  Don't be a stranger.  Many people love you here, Art.

QuoteA fan site owner states that he received this email from Art:

>I started the show with the expectation that my listener's would be able to stream the show since most were coming from AM. They started the thirty day trial and found that it was dropping out on them every few minutes.
After the 30 day trial most did not renew, why would they?
Faced with paying about $180 bucks a Year for something that was not working right, what would
you do? So I lost my base.
My show is based on call in, if all I am left with is Truck drivers with cell phones going down the road at 70 MPH, well you get the idea. So I asked Sirius to allow free streaming for a Year until they could fix their problems and they said no.
The show was simply not viable under these conditions.

>Art

Art, is this true? If so, it seems like an unnecessary jab at a fan base that has been loyal to you from the start. I'm on the phone now with a friend of mine who was on his way back from a trip (yes, a truck driver) and we were discussing unrelated topics and your show came up.  I was unfortunately the one who broke the news to him that your show was done, which made sense to him since he was wondering why there was nothing but replays on air now.  I read to him the above quote (explaining that it may or may not be true) and he replied.."There's no question about it anymore. Truck drivers are used to comments like that and being degraded. That is nothing but code for "These are a lower class of listeners (implying truck drivers) and I refuse to do a show for them.".

Do you have any response to this? I'm sure there are more than a few truck drivers who feel very slighted by that, who recognize code..they understand how they are viewed in the public eye..but to come from someone they all enjoyed, even looked up to. He personally said to me that your show was one of the only things that made his life in that steel box tolerable, and he feels very betrayed by the comments made.  However, being the good people we are, I felt required to write in somewhere I hope you will see so you can address this.

Any reply is appreciated.

This is something else I just realized: I prefer truck driver callers. I don't know why it never occurred to me, but it did. I wouldn't give a shit if all art had was truck drivers calling in.

Jeez, I really need to go to bed but I will answer that, I love truck drivers, I thought of doing it myself! The comment
was made not just about truck drivers but everybody in a moving vehical with a cell phone that everybody could barely
understand. It should be a mix with some of the people at home as well. Sirius is a vehical oriented company which is fine,
but I want it to be a mix, which it will be with free streaming and that includes people outside the Country as well. Free streaming
means just that, free for all. Nobody with a radio in their car or truck is going to cancel because we make streaming available to all.

So are you saying truck drivers aren't various types of people?

I used to work at a fast food joint right next to a truck stop. And I saw all sorts of different truck drivers. Some were on meth, yes. Some had done long stints in prison. Some were morbidly obese and didn't bathe often, and smelled like sweet and sour melon death. Sure, there were those. But there were also a lot of good, decent, honest, hard working truck drivers who were either bland, or interesting, depending. Some were black. Some were white. Some were Mexican. Some were Sikh. Not a single one was Chinese. But they all had heart. And at the end of the day that is what life is all about.

I remember one ordered two burgers with nothing but meat and bread. And he wanted a big thing of french fries. I watched as he ate them in the lobby. He took the french fries and put them on the burgers. This was in 04-05.

Another anecdote: one truck driver ordered a sandwich which was half chicken, half beef. I shit you not.

And most preferred sweet pickles to dill.
