Maybe this is why its taking so long cuz they working out how to get paid off the ad revenue.

You really think anyone at SiriusXM is giving this any thought?  They moved on.

Imagine an Art Bell's Dark Matter channel - Live shows with replays throughout the day, including his old library that SiriusXM purchased from Premiere. I'd probably never get any work done.

Entire industries have been built around this very concept.

Around giving product away for free?

And if "yes",  I'm assuming they weren't companies who had to show a profit to shareholders.

It would shock me if it any show on 104 had more listeners.  I mean, the lineup on Indie 104 sucks.  It's dreadful.

I'm willing to bet there's not a single living human being who subscribes for the sake of anything on INDIE TALK 104. Just look at these goobers:

http://www.siriusxm.com/indie

"A former player turned married guy, Rich feeds his ADD with gambling, going to the gym, rooting for the NY Mets and watching crappy shows like The Bachelor."

If I wanted to hear that I'd strike up a conversation with someone in a laundramat.

I would think that, unless the company was completely joking and being sarcastic, that if they say they would think about the proposal, they in fact would actually think about it.
I sense we will be getting an answer this weekend.

ART: Maybe since you got contacted through your Facebook page initially, according to your own account, you should reactivate Facebook and they will chat with you on there

If they have moved on its very unprofessional not to tell Art Bell. I mean all it takes is an email saying "sorry we going into a different direction"

Maybe the stream shouldn't be free. What would you rather have? A free stream that doesn't work or pay a couple of bucks for one that does. It does cost money to stream. Maybe Sirius needs to expand to streaming and charging for it for all of their shows. It would make them some money and bring their shows to a different audience. They could go beyond the coverage of their satellites.

Wow, there's a unique (I think) idea, Vice President Snowdoggie. And...point well taken, Midnight! Touché  obviously it's a CDO issue (that's OCD with the letters in alphabetical order like theyshouldbe.

He told them that.  As for unprofessional, this is the way corporations act.  Seems pretty normal to me.

Yeah, I think by now they probably have more professional means by which to contact him.

I'm sure it's not the first time they have been presented by this proposition.  They have probably crunched the numbers and possibilities to death more than a few times.  I hope I am wrong, but I think sirius already knows what it will and will not do.

They could put Art and Noory on the same channel at different times.  :o

He's the one who quit, remember.

They waived the 30 day back-out clause for him, just for him to avoid breach of contract.  That's probably more than he's owed at this point.

richard cee

ive been around since dreamland days, and i love you art...buttttt.how could you let yourself get snookered into another contract /non compete issue.didn't you learn any thing from the premiere crap???shit.......now all we can do is hope for the best

You might make decisions on a dime but these corporate guys won't. My take is they are still trying to figure this out. It's not a standard situation. There is a lot of fear in the corporate world about making the 'wrong' decision. Numbers have to be run. Research has to be done. These guys need backup data in case something goes wrong and they are called on the carpet by the Board of Directors and the investors. It's a CYA game.

They also have to think about the fact that if they give Art Bell this deal, will Opie and Anthony or Howard Stern ask for the same deal when they renegotiate. And how will that work out if everybody wants to outsource their streaming? There are lots of moving parts to consider on their end. I'll bet the decision hasn't been made yet.

I think you nailed it, Snowdog. Very likely the people fielding this at the moment are rank and file, stodgy middle management types. They're going to TPS-report the hell out of this until they've covered every conceivable contingency. I think the same level of thinking applies as to why they pulled Art's show times and archives off their site -- they simply don't know what's going on right now. I'm cautiously optimistic.

That's okay, at least you haven't dumped someone just because they couldn't punctuate correctly.  Or maybe you have, I dunno?  ???

Ahhh I didn't know they had done that. That kind of makes me think they just want to be done with it.

I used to work for one of the biggest, most evil corporations out there. I'm NOT going back to the corporate world.  >:(

For some reason, I was under the impression that they'd initially said "no" -- THEN Art came back with more "incentives".  If I'm correct, they did tell Art and it was fait accompli as far as Sirius was concerned.  Granted, I may have misunderstood.

You said it Bigfoot.  Great call earlier, you didn't sound anything like I expected.

That was generous of them. Which is why I've said many times that they did a lot to try to keep Art happy, yet it wasn't enough. Who knows, maybe you guys are right and silence is politely declining the offer.

The Tertiary Imam show, now on Indie 104 Sirius XM:

"Published author Tertiary Imam is a sit-down message-board comic who lives in the Midwest and has been sober for 4 years this past October. A high school drop out and former alcoholic, Tertiary feeds his ADD with paranormal radio, going to the store, rooting for Falkie and watching crappy shows like The Dog Whisperer."
