Actually no. Read the studies. All of them refute prayer doing anything above a placebo effect and not doing it as well.

It's all well and good you want to feel better about yourself by thinking prayer is as effective as really doing something, but it isn't. Yeah it seems to always be trendy, but that is about it.

Look, I get it, so many do gooders want to help. It was just that actually learning physiology was too tough. Understanding the infection and immune process took away from having fun. Understanding how medications work would have been ok if there wasn't so much reading.

So let's believe that thinking nice thoughts does every bit as much to help someone infirmed.

At the same time I hope, pray, intent, meditate, shake a chicken, wave my magic wand, light a magic candle, focus crystals.... THAT ART GETS BACK ON THE AIR.
As prisoners of Arts inertia we only have but a few powerless options.
Rant, slice and dice, or use magical thinking, sometime both at the same time, or just let it go and move on.
All that said, how things work out are now in SiriusXM hands, not us throwing magic bones, or acidic words.

Say you have two violinists. You can pull out a metronome and turn it up a click at a time until one player can't keep up. You can measure that, and you can improve on things like speed using science, like a bodybuilder would. But you can't measure why some musicians tend to write more well-received songs. Or are just well-received in general.

Some shit can't be measured. It's there though. Maybe you can measure it, please pour some into a bottle for me.

I am not sure what you are saying here. Because I enjoy paranormal subjects, I can't separate science from mysticism? Let me explain some of my parameters. I hate shows that deal with any kind of alternative medicine as the primary treatment. I hate shows that suggest if one believes just a bit more they will be healed. I hate shows that eschew medicine for quackery.

I am fully engaged in UFO shows, technology, cryptozoology, ancient astronauts. Even though I am fairly certain it is all hokum but those do no specific harm.

I am not telling you what to believe. But if someone comes along and starts talking about intentionality. I am going to jump all over it.

If that offends you... it isn't my goal.

Frankly, I think prayer makes the person praying feel better, coz that person has hopes it might work and this in turn makes them feel more hopeful about a potentially hopeless situation, and then they feel a bit better about it.  I also think there is a correlation between this and people believing in religion, and believing that the soul survives the death of the body.  Believing that gives them comfort and they can go on and not get depressed by the realization that "this is it" and there is nothing in the hereafter (whether there is or not, I haven't figured out yet myself).  But both those things:  prayer, and religions that stress that there is a heaven of some sorts, are comfort mechanisms by human beings (this I firmly believe).  It could be that, as it provides some degree of comfort to them, their stress loads are thereby decreased, and by decreasing their stress load, one bolsters your immune system and one can recover more swiftly from a current health malady, as well as keeping new ones at bay (as your immune system is stronger for not having to drag that same degree of stress around).  See what I'm saying?  Just my own theory on a very complicated subject.

I see NO ads anymore on Artbell.com, and previously there were several-plus, and from a variety of companies (they were not all just Google ads, IIRC).  I think the advertisers must be assuming Art is done on Sirius, and pulling their advertising.  If so, that sucks, and let's hope they're jumping the gun.  (Yes, I still have some hope, but it's waning).

I've seen prayer not work. I have seen medicine work much more effectively but not 100%. So if you only record the hits and diregard the misses... well that's on you.

There's definitely room for both. They have the same intention, which is to relieve suffering.
Many pray too late I'm afraid, as it's usefulness acts more as a preventative than an actual cure once disease sets in. When used in conjunction they can reduce the amount of physical and emotional discomfort one may be experiencing.  I don't believe in an external god, but I do believe that mind and body are intrinsically linked. In my own experience, prayer gives relief from yourself and any obsessive thinking that's been causing stress and dis ease. It also tends to make people more forgiving and tolerant of others and their own shortcomings. Then again there are many who have not experienced such a state of hopelessness that they have been driven to prayer.
  It's kinda sad sometimes, I work with the old and dying and it's there that I really see the results of what one has done in terms of their activities, via their thinking, in their lifetime. I learn from them.  I encourage them to pray and have any kind of faith - and they don't have that option, their minds have been closed and are full of regrets. They are now too old to learn a new trick and practice positive thinking.

If I knew anything regarding Art's I'm sure it would have to be kept confidential.
