Aww. My Jess quote made the top of the page. I feel so special.
So what exactly did Jess say? I'm assuming this is the SiriusXM VP guy we're talking about right?
I completely missed all that.

No idea who "Jess" really is, but when people kept asking Sirius about Art leaving they kept getting this response:
"It was Art Bell’s decision to end his Dark Matter program on SiriusXM. We wish him the best in the future. - Jess"

It appeared on Facebook and some emails. Probably some poor Sirius intern. Anyway, so I just joked that Jess was a problem, of course it really means nothing.

Actually no. Read the studies. All of them refute prayer doing anything above a placebo effect and not doing it as well.

It's all well and good you want to feel better about yourself by thinking prayer is as effective as really doing something, but it isn't. Yeah it seems to always be trendy, but that is about it.

Look, I get it, so many do gooders want to help. It was just that actually learning physiology was too tough. Understanding the infection and immune process took away from having fun. Understanding how medications work would have been ok if there wasn't so much reading.

So let's believe that thinking nice thoughts does every bit as much to help someone infirmed.

Kind of grouchy today, aren't you Onan?

This video just came up with a keyword search of "Sirius" and "Jess." With all this drama that spirals around her, it's no wonder all this trouble's happened! ::)

Yesterday: Sirius/Jess

you will have to get in line man.
Thx Onan, Malacci, Eddie D, Eddie C, etc. I want Art back on the air, but turning Bellgab into a cat fancying, intention sending, overly sensitive FF clone is too high a price to pay, IMO.

Here's what I don't understand about the logistics of this whole thing.

If Art gets the stream up and running without the aid of Sirius, then he has limited his audience to those who can stream the show over the net. The audience that migrated to Sirius will be lost as the show will not be streamed to the vehicle audience through mobile radios.

I suppose that folks on the road can listen through a mobile device, but won't that be cost prohibitive? Without the vehicle audience Art is back to the streaming crowd though how many simultaneous listeners could stream is an open question.

Anyway first the argument was too many vehicles with cell phone callers. Now it seems there will be few if any, and an audience that will be limited by the capacity to stream. So wouldn't it have made more sense to stick it out with Sirius who is set to distribute the stream through web app and radio devices? I'm worried that if this does take off it may introduce more difficulties than sticking with Sirius.

I guess my question is, will this option REALLY be better than sticking with Dark Matter on SXM for the next three years and then proposing a move to be an independent broadcaster and exploring the stream then? Seems a bit counter intuitive to me.

You are absolutely right. Art needs SiriusXm in order to stay viable. A live show exclusively online will not generate millions of listeners. Of course the 'potential' is there but it's not realistic.

MV brought up the example of Rollye James. I enjoy listening to her show online but its the same 10-15 people calling all the time. Art needs the trucker audience listening the the physical radios in their vehicles. And Art has to accept the reality of cell phones. They suck yes but that's the new way.

SiriusXm was giving him everything he wanted. An 800 Number, extending that number into Canada. Increased bandwidth to distribute the show. A 4 hour time out on the web player. His archive shows being available for like 25 years or whatever it was. I'm sure I'm missing something too. But pirating his own show was an unreasonable demand.

I really hope SiriusXm says yes to Art working an an independent broadcaster. I can't see why they wouldn't... unless it was to Spite him, which is also entirely possible.

Ok so just from the last few pages...

I liked Coz's knowledge and his call into the spec sheet and the man knows "his shit."  The problem with technical types is a lot of what they say is going to go over peoples heads and just sound like some condescending geeky "I'm better than you even though I don't get laid" talk.  The other problem is a lot of what they talk about can be debated by others with similar knowledge.  Sometimes they get caught... not sure if Coz did.  The condescending geek premise is "these people don't know shit so if I can throw enough technobabble at them they will bow to my vocabulary of words they don't know yet, even if I'm not totally sure that what I'm saying is true."  Listing one's accomplishments as proof and then teasing with something along the lines of "I'm not at liberty to discuss" also goes along with the neckbeard profile.  There's always some air of mystery with these geeks!!

In his defense I really think he was just trying to explain some shit and help but alas, the pitfalls of geekdom were too vast.

The prayer thing? utter shite! although I think positive thinking along with trusted reliable medical staff can work wonders.

HMC... yer real names Jess cmon admit it!!!

I went to bed early last night and actually got a full nights sleep! thankyou xanex.  Did anything come of arts live stream? I was hoping maybe some announcement from the man himself... I don't really wanna backtrack through all these fat neckbeard coz memes so... a quick synopsis of the events from lets say page 190 til now ? something like that?

I know I must seem militant to some. And it isn't that I don't have feelings of compassion and empathy. I have just seen so many take the metaphysical route to such poor outcomes. And I would gather that anyone that has followed my posts knows I hate quacks. I hate how trendy new age shit gets a ground swell which morphs into cancerous ideas such as vaccinations are the cause of autism. So yeah I push back pretty hard... maybe I should back off... yeah I am good at that.

I've got thick skin. And I stand by my comments. :)

All in good fun. We're just goofing around because there's zero news from SiriusXM (and probably won't be through the weekend).

Sadly, my guess is we never hear anything from them again.
