I'll actually expand on this....

You might be able to steal Netflix with a proxy (for a limited time).

But with programs such as I wrote, you would not be able to sustain an attack for more than 2 minutes from any single location. Every type of attack (whether DOS, DDOS, dictionary etc) has an attack signature. Those are detected and blocked (no connection).

The downside of that is a large number of open TCP/IP connections (which need to be handled by upstream routers). The upside is that you are not getting enough data through to create a good rate of success in a hacking attempt.

Which is the point.

But with geolocation, you can have a good success rate (90%+) at blocking casual criminals from stealing content.

It's the advanced morons that use open proxies. They can alter their browser settings to hit a proxy- but that is the extent of their technical know how.

Yes... if you are stealing content. You're simply a criminal.

You bastard! :P

And we're not criminals. We prefer the term geographically challenged. ;)

Allow me to expand upon how this works.

1. pay for US netflix by credit card (thus nullifying your 'stealing')
2. use a proxy (free or paid)
3. watch netflix US - (netflix US blocks known proxies and any non-US country)

This is all because US netflix is not allowed in Canada due to our laws that require a certain percentage of Canadian content.  So yes, there are many people 'breaking the law' but not in the way you think.  It's a stupid law to begin with.  I guarantee you that MASSIVE amounts of Canadians are doing this.  It's fairly common here to have a Canadian netflix account, and a US one, so that we get to watch stuff from both.  This also works for Hulu, etc.

Netflix does do its due diligence by blocking known proxies, however if you are using a good proxy service, they have many exit points and they change them regularly so that Netflix cannot keep up.  And the streams are fast enough to watch HD video without problems.

Even the Chinese can't stop their own people from getting around the great firewall with a technical solution.

Watching American Netflix from Canada is a violation of the DMCA. That's criminal.
That's not what you were going on about. You were talking about attacks. It's ok to admit that you misunderstood.

It certainly appears that Sirius has moved on. But that may have been because of a decision made a day or two ago. Lets keep the hope

For me first link works best... the m3u won't load in chrome but I think it's supposed be put into window media destroyer

I use Opera for my web browser and the first stream test only lasted about eight seconds. The second test stream I opened with Jet Audio, which runs more efficiently than windows media player. (For my machine and based on the specs of my machine, which of course may be different for other people, but one could always try out Jet Audio, its free and see if how it does on your machine.)

Kind Regards:)

He's got no clue. It was stealing in the 90s when he was developing SSH2block. Don't worry about it.

Yea, I think it's ridiculous to denounce people as thieves, Coz.

Night Turkey Part 1

Any resemblance between Kolchak : The Night Turkey and any episode of C2C is unfortunately coincidental.

I have a copy of Carl Kolchak's INS ID badge attached to one of my lamps. One guy actually has re-created his outfit and wore it to science fiction conventions. The hard part is finding one of the cameras he used to use, they're rather rare now.

The camera I saw on that page is an old Kodak Pocket Camera. Heck, I still have mine. lol

You are also violating US law. Just saying. You do what you think is right. But from my standpoint, a DCMA violation would ruin my career.

Maybe you like working in gas stations? Just saying.

Art signed the contract and knew full well what he was getting into. I hope Dark Matter returns but that hope is slowly diminishing as the day goes on.

I wonder how definitive this day is. As in, if art doesn't show, what then? It'll mean almost 100% that Sirius said no go, right?

Hopefully art will come post here and explain hisself. If not for his own sake, for Casio's.

Let's look on the bright side, at least we are all in this together:) That has got to account for something, right? :)

Uh Oh

Doc Kaku going under hypnosis.

Next he'll be telling tales of under going an assault on his nether regions

if that happens, then i don't think you will hear him again.

That's right, kids.  Rev up those proxies for the same content you've already paid for, and your life is forfeit.  You'll be turning tricks at the local truckstop before you know it, and those Breaking Bad episodes won't keep you warm when you're living in a box.

"Content theft"--    not even once.

This talk on the stream about time, age, death, and momento mori is depressing as fuck.

man.  i feel sorry for those girls.  fucking creepy foreign men for money can't be that great a gig.

half of them probably entered prostitution after being pressured by their families into doing so.  imagine living that life.

having said that, they're pretty hot and the price looks right.  cancel the above thoughts.

MV, correct on all counts plus so much more that can't even be touch on here.

Some members are disturbed and clutching there pearls because of what people TYPE about Art, an adult millionaire who is behaving badly... unreal.  ::)
They would spew, brown note, and faint all at the same time if they had any idea what life is like in the "3rd world". Exiting the plane almost seems like you flew to another planet. Most of us in the 1st world really lead a charmed life in so many ways without knowing it, simply because we won the vagina lottery...you have seen that firsthand though.

Cheap prices, lots of selection, a virtual Wal-Mart of women. Bootstrapping family out of hunger.... priceless.
True Tea bagger utopia.

Mabuhay! Life is good.

Typhoon Haiyan...  PI god bless, o lord.

I'm reminded of the movie, IT.

It seemed like it was all over --- the nightmare of our youth. But then it came back when we were all older, wiser, established with our families and careers. And then it shocked us right back to where we were the first few times he retired. Shit.

Only in this case its Art Bell and not a wickit clown. And it wasn't a nightmare, but a kind of pleasant, fuzzy dream.

It boggles my mind why Art would think it's a better place for his family...but to each his own as the cliche goes.
