Art Bell Quits Dark Matter

midnight

Okay, I'm at peace now.  Done some deep breathing and had a nap.  I was, am, and always will be an Art Bell fan, no matter what.  If he stays on the air, it's icing on the cake to the many wonderful shows he's given us.  If not, then I wish him a truly wonderful life.

And Jesus said-- Peace be unto you, Peace not as the world giveth, but my Peace I give unto you.

I think that really did come from Jesus.  (Ask tertiaryimam to see for sure.)  :)

My pick.  No news is bad news.  No need to communicate.  The silence does it all.

Arrgh the silence. The same tactic every time-delay, delay, delay some more, keep delaying. It's going to be a long 2 years.

In a month or two they might mail him a letter stating a reiteration of his decision to leave Dark Matter and their decision to accept his termination.

Noory is drinking Art's milkshake.

And we're all the boys in the yard (and a few girls, I guess).

I am quoting you just so that anyone who missed it sees it. I agree with you wholeheartedly and it is encouraging to see a fellow human being sees things as such.

Thank you Batty. I've sort of given up on pleas for civility at this point, especially since I've started to see just as much of a lack of it on the "pro-Art" side as I have on the "other" side. So I'm (mostly) just lurking here for news, ignoring the handful of people I can't stand, and chiming in if I have something to say. Nevertheless, it's nice to see I'm not the only one who sees it this way. :)

I got a call from Jesus last night. He didn't have much to say about the Art situation but he's going to be doing a few shows in Vegas on the 13th and 14th at the Red Rock Casino. Tickets are available at Ticket Master for 45$. His opening act --- he says --- is going to be Matthew David Stanley. Shout outs to big Matt if you're reading this!

Yeah, gotta love those letters that start with "Greetings...."

And but, sometimes good news can be bad news dressed up in a quiet wolf's clothing.

Bet he could buy out his own contract, and use use the stream he's testing

You have no idea how much that could be.

Art is loaded, but he is not buying out a contract that is probably fully expressed revenue for the 3 years.

Basically, SXM would price the buy out at the maximum revenue that they could rationally have projected for Art's show for those 3 years.   That could be A LOT of $$$.

It was really such a treat to have the stories I'd read and re-read for years come to life before my eyes, and pretty much live up to the visuals I'd already had in my head.  Jon Snow was particularly well casted, as were nearly all of House Lannister.

Hey Ravenna, I stalled out midway through book 3.  I think I got annoyed when the author introduced an entire new house of characters (from the south somewhere) and I was like But I just wanna see what happens to so-and-so that I've been following for the last thousand pages.  Whatcha think, is it worth picking up and trying again?

I see Art is no longer logged in....so much for an update.

If he indeed was reading the last hundred pages, he probably needed an emergency Huuuuu session.

Book 3 has the best payoff(s) in the entire series. Give it another try.

Well, if we collectively all pay some money to a kickstarter in the attempts of paying off his non-compete, maybe this is a surmountable hill.

Think about it --- we were all willing to pay 14.99$ a month for a Sirius Subscription (not me). So, how much would we be willing to pay to help art out?

I know, yeah, he's got money, blah blah blah. But, in all honesty, we don't know how much money he really has and wouldn't we rather it go to Asia's education eventually? And even if he did have enough money I think this would be a way we could really show art how much we care about him. Sure, we might say some horrid things when we're angry, but at the end of the day art has given off years of some of the best radio imaginable, and at this point I think we all need to calm down and consider how much we really want him back and what we're willing to do to make it happen.

I think we'll all have to read a good book, and for longer than 2 years. As It's Over might say....it's over. Period. No announcements . No messages. Just crickets.

As I think back, I'm remembering several, " I may not be on tonight," clues: the high wind warning, the back, the spider...he changed his mind and needed some viable excuse, ER um I mean reason.

There is no way people are going to throw more money at him. He needs to sort out his own big mess.

I'm in for 51 clams. 19.50 if Richard See Toadgland has anything to do with it.

Looks like Sirius has made their decision.
They have Dark Matter reruns scheduled for tonight (Dr. Michio Kaku) and thru this weekend only.
Then they have replays of other Sirius shows scheduled in the old Dark Matter time slot for next week.
Also the Dark Matter On-demand shows now have an expiration date of 3 days listed, so listen to those by this weekend, after that they will be gone...

I already paid my way with a year's subscription and radio equipment to hear Mr. Bell raging in the nighttime and although I'm upset with how he handled this situation with Dark Matter, I wouldn't say he owes me anything, nor do I owe him.

Buyout should be part of the contract. Hopefully his lawyers would see to that

Yep. I think it is finally over.

Thanks for trying Art.

He's on the phone with Jimmy Hoffa dude!  The perfect chess move re-grand opening sequence chess move FU George radio interview of all time in which JH reveals the awful truth about GN and his masterminding of the massive JFK coverup. Boom!

(Dear George's niece, don't read this. You're too young too know the unbeleefable truth!)

So that's that, as someone once said to Robert De Niro over a pay phone. Sad day. July and August seem like an era ago.

Agreed.

Just took a look at my account. Same result.

Gonna cancel tomorrow. I can always start over assuming he does come back because I cannot listen live.
