What exactly happened to Fantastic Forum and what was GN's part? I missed this story, anyone care to elaborate?

Some years ago, people on the Fantastic Forum were criticizing George as we do here on Bell Gab.  George wrote a nasty post to them threatening to sue the site and individuals if they continued to post things which he considered to be liable.  Rather than fight, Fantastic Forum put out a cease and desist order to its members.

Ok, I'll get bent. In the meantime: help with what? Get Art back on the air making money for SiriusXM? Oh no? Then why would they let him out of non compete? Oh, because you have been promised free streaming from the guy that walked put after six weeks? Suuuuuure, they'll get right on that. After all, they are loosing sleep over a former customer who is asking them to allow Art to provide (supposedly) a free product. The very same product they spent a lot of money promoting, engineering, setting up his studio, etc,etc, etc.

They already have customer support people at work 24/7, your calls don't mean shit to them for the reasons I stated above. Same with e-mails. If the circumstances were different (Art still on the job, legions of SUBSCRIBERS threatening to quit), this would be the right approach. Unfortunately, the fallout has already occurred and our star went AWOL. You have ZERO leverage.

So you think a campaign designed to be a nuisance from FORMER subscribers (if many ever were) demanding Art be let out of a NC so he can stream, for FREE, what SiriusXM signed a contract to generate revenue over is a winning strategy?

You're deluded.

If Art gets put of his NC, and I hope he does, it will be due to legal maneuvering.

I just got a phone call from the executive offices of A T & T. We got to talking and I told him what I do on line and about my war with $noory.

The next thing he asks me is :

" Where's Art Bell ? Is he still in the Phillipines ? "

So I told him what happened with Art, how he left Sirius and what $noory did as well & told him about Bellgab and Gabcast.

He said he's gonna come on here and listen to Gabcast as well.

We wound up talking for about 10 minutes just about Art and his leaving Sirius.

There's probably thousands of former listeners we may never hear from, but I snagged another one in me net.

Thanks. He was an asshole, but I loved him. My dad taught him to say every foul word known to man. Fred was 16. He had a good long life as a parakeet. He even beat the crap out of my cat once when I was a kid. It was an awesome sight to behold.

I hope he's up in bird heaven now, finally getting to use his wings as he spews out little bird obscenities and poops on the heads of angelic cats.

It's also anger at the takeover of our lives by corporate America, and how, in so many realms, it has affected our personal lives. I know so many whose lives and families are struggling due to recent national and global events

Here is part of what I wrote to Sirius... I think you want to be a bit more detailed than simply sending an e-mail with "free Art Bell" in the title.  Certainly that is a great hashtag on Twitter and something to put on their FB page.. but when communicating with the execs, give them a REASON to end this standoff.


Below is the later part of my letter to them sent via e-mail and fax.

It has come to my attention that Sirius is currently stopping Art from doing an independent broadcast online, in reliance of a non-compete clause.  Given that the program only lasted 6 weeks, it appears that Sirius is simply being mean-spirited and I would have to say that fighting to keep Art Bell off the air would certainly influence whether I would ever choose to subscribe again in the future.

The only people you are ultimately hurting are the fans of Art Bell, who are going to walk away from this with a highly negative impression of Sirius.  As a former entertainment attorney, I know that non-compete clauses are generally thrown out in any court case, unless significant additional consideration is granted.   Thus, if Art chooses to fight you on this, he will ultimately win; however you will have lost thousands of potential future customers by creating negative feelings among his fans.  On the other hand, you could choose to do the right thing, release Art from his non-compete, incur good will with his fans and maintain the possibility that in the future, some of them will subscribe.

I  called and spoke to  a woman at SXM. I hope I made a difference. Shit I feel like a pussy. Almost got all tears and sniffles talking about how Arts show made a difference in my everyday boreing life. And how it would be a crime to hold Art to a contract when the show itself could not possibly succeed with the tech available to him from SXM. And how I was also pissed how they put Noory on. And I wasn't slamming Noory..it was the fact that all Art wanted was to stream from the web and they put on C2C which is on 100s of stations for free. I know its a bit different and C2C pays Serius but the shit didn't work and that's the bottom line. HAVE A HEART FOR ART!!!!!

As for his motivation in sucking onto BellGab like the giant parasite he is, remember this is the same guy who first registered on BellGab on 8/12/2013, and made his first post the very same day that he spoke with John David Oates about being his guest on C2C...one week before the launch of Dark Matter. 

Dave gets exposed for having Oates as a guest on C2C one week before the launch of Dark Matter?  Oates, a guy who went to great lengths to publicly accuse Art Bell of having been arrested as a pedophile?  Oates, a guy who Art spent years of his life and $$$ pursuing through the legal system?    That calls for PremRat damage control, so Dave comes here, to BellGab, and gets the members of this forum angry and accusatory towards EACH OTHER, rather than talking about him. I think you're wrong on that. It's not like years ago when BJO Trimble started a campaign to keep Star Trek on the air and had to do it with phone calls, snail mail and fanzines.

We have personal blogs, websites, social media and the like.

A relatively few people can make a difference.

The Tea Party movement started with just 2 talk show hosts talking about it.

As did the recall of Gray Davis as Governor of California.

And the removal of MTBE from gasoline here.

Just how many active and regularly posting members are there on BG anyway ?
