After Dave started trolling BellGab, right around the time of Art's announcement that he'd be returning to the airwaves,  Dave announced on C2C that he had given $500 to Spike Mike several years ago.  Lots of people at FF had wondered why Spike Mike suddenly disappeared during the time that Noory was trying to co-opt and bully FF.   Now we know why.  Totally unrelated, I'm sure (sarcasm intended), just a few days before Noory publicly humiliated Spike Mike with this disclosure, Spike Mike had re-surfaced to post on Art's facebook page that he was excited about Art returning to radio.  I'm sure George saw that, so he got his revenge via public humiliation.  Spike Mike disappeared again that very night.

Well isn't that interesting.

Wiki has nothing and others have done something as you suggest and, to my knowledge, nothing has ever surfaced.  I'm sure if RCH had something to brag about it, we would have heard about it a long time ago.

Seems to me I came across Richard C. somewhere entirely unrelated to the face on Mars. I believe, and I could be wrong, but he used to run a planetarium back east somewhere and has some kind of specialization in public science promotion.

WHAT!!!!
Aldous left us?
Say it isn't so :'( :'(
Did he leave in a huff (like that seventy- one guy) & threaten to flee to Facebook? ???
How many more soldiers from the scorpion army are we going to loose here?  >:(

No, AB seemed to leave under amiable terms.  Something about having to live in a small town in Mexico without internet.  Probably something similar to that lovable family from a small town in France.

Yep, he claims to have been the curator of a science (space?) museum, I think in CT.

SnapT

Let it be known throughout BellGab that I will GLADLY take George Noory's money and/or host a wacky Friday night segment on C2C!

The latter I would like to be called either SNAP'S PLACE or SNAP TO IT!

"Specialization in public science promotion?"  Is that the current PC term for Bravo Sierra? ;)

That jackass sure has been busy.
No wonder he's always logging in here.

Don't you think checking on Dave's activity here all the time is a little stalkerish?
He can read the forum without logging on if he wants, he's just checking all the love letters people leave in his PM box.
Just my opinion of course, but hey what ever it takes to make your day.

I spent the better part of a morning looking for his academic background.  Lots of claims/counter-claims, but nothing I would hang my hat on either way.  I've thought of giving Tommy a spurious question next time DICK is on,  then hit him right between the eyes on the air with very pointed questions about his educational background.

I found this:

"But I learned from Dr. David Morrison, Chief of the Space Science Division at NASA's Ames Research Center, that Hoagland was largely "self-educated" in science. In an August 31, 1990, letter, Morrison told me that he knew of "no one in the scientific community, or who is associated with the NASA Mars Science Working Group, or who is working on Mars mission plans at such NASA centers as Ames, Johnson, or JPL, who ascribes even the smallest credibility to Hoagland or his weird ideas about Mars." So much for the "groundswell of official NASA interest" that Hoagland boasted of during his July 13 For The People  appearance."

I think it will. Kitten is a female, existing cat is a big laid back male orange tabby. I expect he'll like having a chick around, despite the neutering. If not, or if the kitten is too feral, I have a friend that takes in barn cats. It'll work out one way or the other. Kitten gets checked out by the vet tomorrow.
Flipper...I've ignored you since the days of the dolphin porn (which I've kept in reserve, just in case) and you calling me insane.  You're causing me to re-evaluate my perception of you now.  That's uncomfortable, but it may be justified.  Maybe.

Doesn't the fact that Art was with Sirius for such a short time enter into the validity of the NC, as well?  Six weeks is nothing.

That certainly doesn't hurt.

Sirius can't really make the claim that they are protecting trade secrets.

For example, when a salesperson is under a noncompete and goes to a competing company, the claim is often that they will bring their clients to the new company.  Often the industry is limited, so the court will uphold the non compete because there is no way the salesperson can work in the same industry and not have influence over clients they have worked with for years.

Very tough to make that argument here.  Sirius didn't invest a significant amount of money in Art.  They gave him an out clause in his contract and competition is something considered healthy in this business.  Its not like there is a rule stating that companies can only advertise on 1 paranormal theme show in a given year.

That's been a greater mystery than his goofy photos.  I think it's pretty certain he has nothing beyond a High School diploma.  Of course, that qualifies him to be Jorch's "Science Adviser."
Yes...and remember if snoorys ever president rch is NASA chief!!!!!!

Are you some sort of cat pimp?

No, a guy named Phillip used to feed them. ( And no, he's NOT UFO Phil ).
These cats were born at this building. Their mother cat died. At one time she had 15 kittens and an animal rescue group came out and spayed and neutered them. One very crippled but sweet man here adopted 2 of them. They're very sweet and friendly. Others were adopted as well until there were only 5 left. Tiny One has disappeared. I feed Shy One when he comes by but he doesn't come by very often and has reverted back to more feral status. He used to let me hold him all the time. Winter and rain confuse them because I can't feed them outside then as the food gets wet.

About a year and a half ago, the new mama tabby cat showed up with 2 tiny kittens and her mate. She loves her cats and her mate and nuzzles all of them.

And Orangey, an orange tabby showed up here about 2 years ago. He lets me hold him too.

The mama cat, the kittens ( now full grown )  and very occasionally the papa cat all come into my doorway to eat. I have a big bowl filled with catfood for them. Unfortunately, on occasion so do they 9 raccoons that come up the hill from the creek to eat the cat food. One of them ( haven't seen it lately ) was a baby when it showed up one day and was completely white with white eyes. If I could have cought it, I would have taken it to the junior museum. albino animals don't survive well in the wild.

If I had not taken over feeding them, they probably would have all starved to death. There are a lot of strays downtown here particularly around the Amtrak station and the marina. There's a huge colony down there and periodically they catch and neuter/spay them and release them.

I've had cats since 1977 and love them, including my 2.

Hoagland has some qualifications.

1. Only he can pull off wearing an ascot and earth tones in 2013.

2. We've already established that he smells good.

3. The hair.

4. He'd look great driving a Camaro.

5. His watermelon flavored butter or whatever the hell recipe he contributed to George's cook book is indeed made out of food.

If you're talking about the ones I feed, i've taken a bunch on my disposable camera and will take a video of them soon.

its too dark back there at night to take video without a light though I could probably rig something up.
next month I will have a rechargable spotlight and have been looking at a camera light and bracket at amazon

my Fuzzy cat is on a video on my you tube channel. The Guy From Pittsburgh ( tm ).
If I can catch Fluffy, I will do one of him this weekend.
The long haired little girl cat comes in here often. Next time she comes in I'll do a video of her too but she too is wiggly like Fuzzy.
both cats don't mind being held if I stand up and hold them but for some reason they freak out if I sit down with them.
Fuzzy now calls to me and talks to me all the time which is amazing because 2 months ago she continually ran out the door if I even got close. She fell in love with sleeping on the pile of sweaters and Little Girl sometimes goes over and cuddles up to her as well. They're littermates so there's no  animosity most of the time though sometimes Little Girl attacks other kitties.

>:(
Aw, cute! I miss my kitties. My one dream is to own my own house and have a kitty family of my own. Not a big one though, I will be happy with 2. Oh, and a very large dog to protect me since I'm useless in self defense... Also, because I love both cat's and dogs!

Hoagland sounded surprisingly sane and understandable on that one podcast where he talked about Art leaving Sirius.

I've always enjoyed RCH mainly because he is so sincere about the stuff he says it's almost hypnotizing.

There's also people on a forum board investigating and discussing his credentials here. Someone claims he did have an undergarduate degree in astronomy from Harvard and won an award. The Harvard link is there.

It's from 1992.

You bring up a good point, one that I have been wondering.

With Sirius having let Art out of the 30 day clause, doesn't that break the contract, therefore, nullifying the NC? (Unless the NC is under a SEPARATE contract.)

Just a thought.

I almost never see stray cat's where I live. I thought I found one, but he turned out to have an owner. We fed him for a week and he took off. I guess in Alaska, it's very hard for ally cats to get by. :<

Sounds like Spike Mike should make an appearance in Rossy's documentary.

Xitheron, do you know anything about song royalties for DVDs.  I've been pissed I can't get decent DVDs of "WKRP in Cincinnati" due to the apparent difficulties of restrictions with the songs of the day having been played on the shows.  Hell, they even have problems apparently with Jennifer's door bell music.  Damn door bells.

Hmmm... Really, I just bought the whole box set last week at the flea market. I'll sell it to you at the right price

This is a 1997 quote from the Harvard Gazette News regarding R Hougland:

"Astronomy is a subject that fascinates and puzzles many people, some of whom claim to have viewed structures on Mars and the Moon. Richard Hoagland, for example, identified a human face on Mars and 10-mile-high buildings on the far side of the Moon. He describes these in an unforgivable book, The Monuments of Mars: A City on the Edge of Forever, published by North Atlantic Books. Thus, Hoagland was a natural to receive the 1997 Ig Nobel Prize in Astronomy."

Mind you it doesn't speak to his educational credentials.
