Steve Warner's Dark City

PrarieGhost, good to see your smiling skull once again.

bateman, you know how to pick the topics I love.  Interesting to hear Mr. Lang talk about addressing the trauma of abductees.  I've never been, but, once merely saw a UFO, and it scared the hell out of me (reported it to MUFON; naturally).  I cannot imagine what it must be like for people who truly have been abducted.  Even if it's only 1% of all abductions reported... still.  Must be horrifying, and here's one of the few guys on Earth helping these people; applause.  You've resurrected a most adored nuance from Art's old C2C days:  giving crazy, controversial topics the respect & inspection they deserve.

Never heard the term "screen memory" previously.
I liked when you said, "I guess we're gonna call them aliens..."  Gave me a good laugh.  Well played.

Bravo for your Travis Walton question, that has crossed my mind several times.
I've heard it said that there are radiation signatures left in our bloodstream if/ when humans spend any time in space, and Mr. Walton has these signatures.

Great show, you make it look so easy.  Good times, looking forward to the next show, and, damn, how well it goes with prosecco.

The new episodes don't appear on iTunes yet...

I recommend that people listen to the Skeptoid podcast about Travis Walton and his abduction story. The ufo people have left some key details out it would seem.

Bateman, what's the chance of you going 3 hours? You know you want to do it!

Maybe. MAYBE. Just not right away.  ;)

It's controversial, but in my opinion, very real, even though it doesn't get the amount of media attention it did in the 80s & 90s - it certainly hasn't been explained away to my satisfaction. It's very real for the people who experience it - whether it's happening within the confines of one's mind or actually physically happening, I don't think it's some delusion or hallucination. The stories are way too similar, way too specific, for me to believe otherwise. I'm in touch with a couple of different abduction researchers/hypnotherapists in the city, so I may be able to sit in on a regression session or 2 in the near future. Fingers crossed.

As far as Travis Walton, I still haven't made up my mind.

The abduction experience is a new twist on an old phenomena.  The old hag syndrome.  I don't know why it has be more than that.  Add hypnosis and suddenly they're in a false memory orbiting the Earth.

Your news story about us being in the 6th great extinction made me sad... but it wasn't totally unexpected :'( Cats will survive this great extinction though, right? Some are already evolving to look more like humans. Maybe it will be confused and skip right over them *sigh*

I've seen some dogs with mustaches but they don't quite pull it off as well. Mustaches might just be the key. Could a solution so simple (and sophisticated) have been right under our noses this entire time?  :o

Tonight at 10: Steve Bassett what he calls a government-imposed truth embargo.

Gemstone

Looking forward to your show this evening!

Excuse me Bateman but will you be addressing the ebola virus situation that Jorch has been covering? I only get my news from C2C. Do you have a poll set up asking DW listeners if those two people should be allowed back into the states? IT'S GOING TO CAUSE HAVE AWK!!!

EDIT: As funny as it is to listen to him freak out, this is actually some heavy shit. DO NOT WANT.

Every silver lining has a cloud. Only an hour?

Same thing for Howard Hughes. Take off your shoes and stay awhile.

Stevie Nicks bumper ^___^b

I'm not scared about us all knowing aliens are real. I'm cool with them if they're cool with us. Honestly I'd rather we all just get it over with. & the groups fighting over who gets to cover it up can stop running around. They can focus on other things. I'm more concerned about all those unstable people or people that just get their minds tweaked by it. I wonder how long it would take for things to settle down. Well, as much as it can with such a shift to our reality. Obviously things would never quite be the same. Some sort of normalization where people are functioning and getting on with their lives. Has anyone ever made a projection on how long it could take in this type of situation? :o

Once the speculation of if aliens exist is gone is it rude to speak about them on paranormal radio? Discussing their history, religions, systems, transportation, lifestyles, genetics and such? LOL I'm mostly interested in finding out where our histories intertwine. I WANNA KNOW NOW!!  >:(

Agreed, popple.  I'm ready to see the flip-out that will ensue when all is disclosed.  This year, or early next?  How about around Christmas?  Can't wait to hear my fellow tin-foil hats say, "I told you it was true!"

But, ending the 60 year truth embargo?  Not sure it would ever truly end, but with the disclosure of aliens being real/here/whatever, we should have a bellgab party, and invite Art to call in with his comments, non-compete be damned.

Sorry for the poor sentence structure, I always get hammered when I listen to Dark Weekend.   :D

I hope you're right about the cats, although I'm a little worried about this one.

Thrub comes from a place far far away, he has thus far found it difficult to find a life partner on Earth. His hideous appearance is he feels the deal breaker, but he knows that out there will be the love of his life who will see further than the muscle disabling frightening face and body, and see a caring and loving individual.

I get a kick out of Kitlers!  And it's amazing how many of them there are.  I've never seen mustache cats like those you posted, but this guy reminds me of Mr. B, The Gentleman Rhymer, who's the originator and foremost practitioner of Chap Hop.  Funny stuff!

Mr. Bassett is anything but succinct. It was only an hour long show and I didn't think I was going to make it. I felt a growing sense of impatience with a sense of his grandiose delusions. And sweeping generalizations. but, I will enjoy the outcome throughout November and December either way. Either his plans will come to fruition and he will be vindicated or nothing will happen and we can watch his plans fail.

The main flaw I find with his whole theory is that our government or Congress is at all able to hide an extraterrestrial presence. They could make themselves known anytime they want to. A "truth embargo" is irrelevant… More than that, impossible.

And Bateman, I thought you and I were both running out of patience at the same time toward the end when he was going into a grandiose summation and you sort of had to push him out the door.:-)

He knew it was an hour show. You'd think he'd have a few bullet points to get across and be grateful for the air-time.
But no, "Hold on, you're getting ahead of the program."
Fuck your program! This is my program. Open lines after the break.

He seemed to really wanna stay on the opic of how he's gonna make the media go nuts. He wants people to make some noise on twitter, but stay off the phones?  :-\

I also don't think a "media firestorm" is going to force disclosure.
