I dunno but, well phased question.

I'm callin' BS on that answer and the CIA having no involvement in drugs. But he's a spook so he gets paid to lie.

Thanks! I was going to ask him about the process of recruiting an asset but I saw that the show was going to end soon and I improved a JFK question. Not a single CIA agent will ever say they believe it was a conspiracy, I didn't expect him to say other wise, was just hoping.

Guess it's just my own extensive experience with it's effects to not feel all crazy about it...I mean if i pass a cop or something I don't want to freak out...but still...

Ok, everyone, please send a nice email to Charles Faddis and tell him how much you enjoyed the show. Be sure to tell him that you look forward to their next interview with Art Bell.

The goal is to make him aware that his appearance on Art Bell's Dark Matter had a very positive effect with lots of people.

Actually you can go to cia's website and see if there are any jobs available, and request a vetting process to occur.  I've looked into it...I have worked with agents...and was told that with my skill set I could actually get the job...but after seeing my family and friends that have worked for em...just didn't think it was for me.

Just realized you meant the recruiting process of assets, yeah he didn't hire ex military people, he would get foreign assets, I wanted to ask him about the psychological aspects of that etc but there wasn't enough time to delve into that.

Indeed - I got to actually see one at Edwards AFB and at Basic Training in Lackland, TX.  I've always loved that plane too...read Ben Rich and Kelly Johnson's books sometime - They're great reads about that plane!

Ah...yes, that process is different for sure...but mainly it's just through intel gathering, they offer boatloads of money is the easiest way...he actually discusses this in the interview early on in the show...I'm replaying the show, and will check it out tomorrow onDemand

The Hollies.  I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE that song.  Just a little.  ;D

Spinner

Tonight's interview is definitely worth a re-listen.
Especially since I missed quite a bit because of various distractions.

Did he ever explain why his book is called "Caffa"?

Biological Warfare at the 1346 Siege of Caffa

Abstract

On the basis of a 14th-century account by the Genoese Gabriele de’ Mussi, the Black Death is widely believed to have reached Europe from the Crimea as the result of a biological warfare attack. This is not only of great historical interest but also relevant to current efforts to evaluate the threat of military or terrorist use of biological weapons. Based on published translations of the de’ Mussi manuscript, other 14th-century accounts of the Black Death, and secondary scholarly literature, I conclude that the claim that biological warfare was used at Caffa is plausible and provides the best explanation of the entry of plague into the city. This theory is consistent with the technology of the times and with contemporary notions of disease causation; however, the entry of plague into Europe from the Crimea likely occurred independent of this event.

I didn't hear if he did or not.  Was distracted as well.  Still am, I took my dog out and she bit me on the chin.  I think she's protesting this late bedtime.  I do believe I may have to catch it on replay tomorrow.

steelbot
