Because he can go on the Gabcast from his house, to do MITD he must go a few hundred feet to his studio. Not safe to walk as he might be shot at en route. Also while in the studio, his family is in the main house unprotected.

He had just called in from his house, he wasnt running the board, Keith was, just as he does now. It was Heather, Art and the guy being interviewed(after they got back in touch with the guest).  You have been misinformed about this show.  Art didnt have to take over, he simply called in to fill time.    It has Heathers very first show, she had teh choice of either doing some open lines with Art, or continuing on the interview with Art on the other line.  There was a moment where you couldhear the bumper music starting in the background, and Art stated "You have to go to break", then Heather proceeded to go out to break.  Then someone here at Bellgab made a comment that Art had taken over the show and was even calling the breaks, which wasnt what occured.
What I stated was exactly accurate, I listened live. It was Friday December 11, 2015, the guest was a time traveller, from when Art had made the call to speak with actual time travellers.

Very excited to Hear Art on the Gabcast tomorrow night. great work on MV's part. Imagine out of left field the Gabcast was a special edition where a panel has the "Roast of Art Bell" hosted by George Noory?

- We Have Richard C. Hoglund on the panel tonight. Richard Is Sydonian, but he is Widely considered from Planet X, because no other Sydonian has even been considered this much of an A**hole

- Keith Rowland is here. Keith suffers from a rare form of erectile dysfunction but If we all had our own solar system, we wouldn't have to worry about that if you know what i mean. (laugh track)

- Leo Ashcraft is on the panel. Leo made his meltdown with Art and Keith VERY public. he spilled his grievances across his Facebook page,  and the Dark Matter News website.  You know, Leo, everytime I think of things in the future, I think of The Jetsons.

- And Finally, the great Art Bell. Art once said that I smelled like John Hogues hands after he rand them through his disgusting beard. Well, with prophecy you got to see what happens.
