I mentioned on the last GabCast that I was going to a funeral and that I would visit my the grave of my grandparents and see if I could catch an EVP. This is my story.

I used the voice memo app on my iPhone and I was standing at my grandparents grave. I have never used the app before and I assumed that it was running and recording. I was telling my grandparents about my kids which they never got to see and asking them if they can watch over them. I was getting goose bumps the whole time. If you have used the voice memo app before when it is running there is a vertical line which moves across a horizontal line on the screen to indicated the amount of time recorded. When there is a sound it actually shows spikes that indicate sound. I'm sure there is a technical word for it. I didn't know the app did this and the whole time I just assumed the app was working properly. I then stopped the session to listen back to it before other family members arrived. When I attempted to stop the session by clicking on the red button nothing happened. I couldn't get out of the app or close it down by clicking the home button. I couldn't even soft close the phone by clicking the on/off button at the top. My phone had just frozen and this has never happened to me in my whole time of owning an iPhone since 2007. I was finally able to close the phone by doing a hard reset by holding the home and on/off button for 10 seconds.

Once my phone restarted I began the EVP session again feeling a little stupid and embarrassed by asking the same questions to my grandparents. They must have been embarrassed in front of their ghost family and friends about their idiot grandson who can't even operate a simple piece of magical machinery.

This time I could see the slider moving and my heart was going a million miles an hour when I could see the oscillation of the voice waves (i said I don't know what the terminology is) even when I wasn't speaking. I really thought I had hit pay dirt. I thought I was going to come back to the GabCast with my findings and I would be a hero in the EVP world. But alas my fame and fortune was not to be. I listened back to my session and all I could hear in between my awkward questions was the sound of the fucking wind. Lame!

Dude that's the sound of wind that's died down long ago. Freaky!

The sound of the wind was your Grandparents describing your inheritance!

A cackle of Hoaglands

A pod of Tommys

A clattering of Dames

A knob of Noorys

eddie dean

A wreck of Oates
or
An ambush of Oates

A culture of Arts

A host of Bells
or
A stubbornness of Bells  :'(

A plump of Tommys

A screech of Howes

Just finished last Mondays show. Every new episode is my favorite episode. Great job guys!

NXOEED

Listened to the newest at 2 am while riding my bicycle through Tempe's creepiest trailer park. I was surprisingly creeped out. The paranormal thing you guys are doing is really great. Keep 'em coming.

I have to admit I've been lurking around this forum for a few months before Art came back in Sept.  I have been listening to The GabCast and got to hear the voices of many of the posers to the forum.  I miss Art but love the GC and wish it was on more than once a week.  I even started listening to the Spec Sheet  and  now Dark Weekend.  Love those shows too.  I don't miss Art as much when I have all of you missing him and sharing here.

I'm mostly a lurker as well, agree completely about the Gabcast.  The new paranormal based format you guys have been using is honestly some of the best radio I've heard; not a knock on the previous format as it was just as entertaining.  I'm not normally a radio listener of any kind (discovered C2C, Art Bell by accident), the exception being the podcasts of this site (including Dark Weekend).  Keep doing what you're doing, I look forward to every episode as much as a paycheck (seriously).

Thank you for the kind words. We will endeavor to sustain some level of competence... no promises.

You son of a bitch. Aldous & I were ready to go live with our BoozeCast.

DocHolliday

Just found the thread for your guys' show.  I really, really enjoyed the show a couple weeks ago where you all spoke about paranormal stuff pretty much the entire hour.
