Thanks to another thread by SR and fellow Gabber sleeplessinca...This was inspired.

JC goes to Vegas...

Chine

Out come the markers. Now, it's getting serious.

JC finds himself in a Vegas strip club.

coaster

haha. Thats probably what he looks like too.

Chine

Haha. Oh! With Halloween approaching, I should draw one of him calling Art while Evelyn Paglini is guest.

Thank you. I've always doodled, cartooned since I was a little girl. Now, as a professional painter, between paintings, I still do. In fact, as I sit here, in front of me is a legal pad with drawings all over it. On grocery lists, random notes etc. It gives me a lot of joy. There's a craft beer bar that hired me to paint a little 'Beer Fairy'. They hide it and offer patrons a deal if he's found.

I've always been drawn to paintings, and have wondered how long it takes to do one.  Like, say, one of your professional ones.

Do you do it quickly after coming up with a concept and mixing the paints, or very slowly, brushstroke by brushstroke with time to contemplate in between each one?

Chine

Funny you ask. Currently I'm working on one for a client and it's taking a while. I rarely work from photos. I'm not a representational artist that reproduces. It's an expressionism and most from my mind's eye.

Usually I 'see' it in my mind beforehand. Or I visually record from a photo I'm inspired by and create my own style from it.

Some of my best works just happened in an hour or less. Like I'm so taken over it paints itself in one swoop. Those are few and far between. I tend to do so much that I go through downtimes to replenish my energy. Still, even then, cartooning helps me enjoy and no pressure or deadline. Pure fun. But, it is still 'practice' and rekindles a 'serious painting'

So, this current one...I finished yesterday and may do a second one. Because, I really want to offer her my best. I sometimes will do three a day. Put one aside and do another..go back to the first etc. There's no way to tell if it will take days or only an hour. But, cartoon like this take minutes. Because, I'm having so much fun and not 'thinking' or in my head. Btw...I'm a huge fan of your Eye Pad work.

Pigment dyes, watercolors can be fast. That's my ideal and fav medium. So, can be an hour at most.

Oils, pastels are different. Lots of time in undertones, layering color. You can use fast drying products for oils. Still, it's a different animal. Oils require so much. It is a wonderful medium that demands discipline and those take days (as do pastels).

No. Not sure how he would see them unless he follows posts here. As you see, I asked MV to change the title of this thread. Many posts pregnant for cartoons as well as JC. This way they're all in one spot.

I remember that call.

Chine

Last night while listening to the show I fell asleep and missed JC's call. I woke this morning to find JC accepted my friend request on fb. Forgot I sent it and (whether it's a real JC or not), he's harmless and posted some funny shout outs. Really all he'll see on mine is photos from a fashion exhibit at the museum, etc. But, I did share these cartoons on his wall.

New JC Cartoon...

JC on Facebook

Nice job!
Everytime I see your JC drawings, it reminds me of a much older & worn out version of Andrew "Squiggy" Squigman from Laverne & Shirley!  :)

I may as well, just depends on the laundry situation...(Horrible accoustics possible through my headset and our semi on the fritz washer's and dryers....it'd be entertaining to say the least as I have to go stop the damn buzzing on our dryer too when it ends it's cycle...blah...the joys of single bedroom apartment with a family of 6 + 4 pets! or my own...but still yes...we shall see...
