should art do ghost to ghost and new years predictions shows on Dark matter

Absolutely. But I wonder if he may no longer own the rights to the name. I'm guessing he probably sold not just the G-to-G shows but the name as well. But it would be no problem calling it something else. Just so long as he does it.

But my real question is if he'll have enough audience right away to support a live open lines ghost-to-ghost call-in. It's a fact of life he's not going to have the same size audience he did when C2C was in its heyday. So might Art have to ask folks to submit their stories ahead of time, like for a podcast? That would guarantee enough good tales which open lines might not generate.

Or does everyone think he'll have enough audience right away to generate enough Ghost-to-Ghost stories for an open lines call-in?

"Things that go bump in the Dark, Matter"

Other hosts seem to have a lot of callers.  I might even call Art and tell him about the ghost named Noorie that haunts the Cheap Channel west coast studios.

Falkie2013

Snoorie the Ghost was the ghost that even the 3 ghosts that hung around Wendy & Casper the Friendly Ghost were ashamed to talk about.

Never did get to know just whose ghost Casper was supposed to be.

No matter what you call it, it wasn't Ghost to Ghost or the annual predictions shows without Art.

And to hear him say bonk or ding ... ding ... ding  again ...

I think there are a lot of former Coast listeners who will sign up for the service but who don't know he's coming back to the airwaves.

Perhaps Sirius needs to run full page newspaper ads or a commercial for Art's return. I know that I've been doing my part, but ... in the last few days I've met 3 people who have never HEARD of Art Bell.

If you didn't stay up all night back then and slept like normal people ... or as normal as some of us are going to get, you'd probably wouldn't been aware of Art or his program.

I worked graveyard for years and even stayed up on my days off, losing a lot of needed sleep in the process. Having Art on for the years I worked that shift kept me sane, because all that's on the radio in the middle of the night is either news, talk, political talk or sports talk, most of which bored me to death, even though in the day light I've been a news & politics junkie for years.

It would also put me to sleep.

My biggest problem with listening to Art is that I kept dozing off about 3am every night and which is why I was glad to go back to days after I quit working graveyard after being robbed at gunpoint 3 times. I finally got to sleep but still wound up listening to Art because I then worked 2 part time jobs instead of one full time job & one job saw me getting off work at 11-12 am & listening to Art on the way home each night.

I miss the money but not the hours & am working on getting myself set up for making You Tube videos on my various channels once I get them set up. I started working in high school & never want to work full time again for someone else.

I never cared for the New Year prediction shows.  However, I loved the Ghost-to-Ghost shows, so I'd like to have him do that again.

I'm with you. Even though they were a tradition with Art, the one or two nights he did predictions I wouldn't even bother to tune in. Crushingly boring.

Add another to the list of those who agree.  Call the Halloween special whatever you want and keep it.  I barely ever tuned into the prediction show (the occasional hour just to hear the stupid "bonks" from last year and predict to myself that almost every on-air prediction would end up the same.)  Also, as time wore on these shows seemed to have gotten worse.  Art was always looking for specifics.  More and more often callers wanted to predict that "people will become more enlightened this year" or some such vague prediction that is impossible to measure.

I lvoed ghost to ghost when art did it.

Did you listen to Noory's version last year.
It was HORRID.. That was not a fun show.

We havent had a good ghost to ghost show since art left.

The prediction show is whatever to me. Im down for it, I enjoyed it when Art had them.

Well how 'bout "Ghostly Matters"? The last few nights at work I've been listening to the old, Ghost to Ghost shows with Art on my Sony Clie. It freaky fun to listen to the shows on the stormy nights we've been having! ;)

I should probably clarify... as soon as Art left it and they decided to have people call in their stories in advance (it was not even screened open lines from my recollection) I stopped listening.  I listened to Noory destroy Coast nightly but refused to listen to him destroy the best show of the year.

The predictions were almost always boring, stupid shit 99% of the time.  I always liked the idea behind the ghost shows, but for some reason always found myself not paying attention after a while.

Wow. Guess I have to pipe in and be the sole supporter of the year-end prediction shows (with Art). I loved them but I'm pretty much in the opposing camp in that I always got pumped up for the G2G shows but in the end always found them dull and predictable spare one or two stories. I thought the prediction shows provoked a lot of good speculative thought that might have never occurred to me otherwise, despite Art's "rule" that the predictions were supposed to be based upon otherworldly inspiration rather than insight or logic. Art going through what he determined were the "bonks" and the "dings" was always fun to me.

"Worst Person in the World" segment should be added. Noory and every Premiere stuffed suit winning the title until C2C "The Noory Years" is given it's proper two in the hat finale.

Renaldo

I hope Art does do the Halloween ghost show, whatever it'll be called. I really hated what Dave's done to it. Having everything pre-decided and done in advance really kills the spontaneity.

I'm okay with the concept and the proposed winners; except the name of the award makes me shudder with nausea, reminiscent as it is of Keith Olbermann. And who the hell let him back on tv? Idiots!

ESPN in their panic about the launch of Fox Sports 1, actually shook hands with their devil and brought him back. It will probably last 5 months now it's clear he wasn't needed...especially since Fox Sports 1 is being derided as Fox Sports 0.1 due to their awful showings this month. Donovan McNabb is as comfortable on TV as he was in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl 39.

Nucky Nolan

He should if he's into it. He could do the old ghost-to-ghost show since the new Halloween show is such an abomination, more of a trick than a treat. If legal loopholes make his original January 1st format impossible, he could create some other version of it, maybe wishes for the new year (lame, I know). By the by, I now crave pork and sauerkraut with all of this talk of New Year predictions.

Please excuse my ignorance- I am in Canada and have not had television for many years... I Olbermann the guy I used to refer to as the "Rush Limbaugh of the left?"  I seem to recall him being left leaning and coming across as a very bitter (mean spirited?) person if he is who I am thinking of.

I wonder if McNabb partied as much before the show as he did in Ponte Vedra Beach before the game.

That's the guy. If we have to suffer that assclown, a sports channel that no one watches is probably the best place for him (though MSNBC, a 'news' channel that no one watches was OK, too).

Thanks- the name sounded familiar.  I love politics and have even watched Colbert or Daily when the opportunity arises (house sitting or the occasional download.)  They make it fun and entertaining.  For the life of me I fail to understand what the usual commentators (on the left or the right) bring to the table aside from worn out rhetoric and straw men to bowl over...

Anyhow, to get back on topic perhaps a show for the "day of the dead" or one dedicated to Chinas quingming festival (tomb sweeping day) might have some educational as well as entertainment value.  (I only learned of tomb sweeping day because I had an order coming from China and the seller told me that she had been off for "tomb sweeping day.")

To answer the original question, sure, by all means, Art should do a Halloween ghost show.  A topic cannot be copyrighted or patented.  He couldn't -- and wouldn't -- call it Ghost to Ghost.  I'm sure he'd come up with something more original and engaging other than a now-stale pun.

Prediction shows aren't my cup of tea, but if that's what the audience wants, I'm sure he can deliver the goods.

Cynnie

I NEED ghost to ghost ..NEED ! As an adult halloween isnt often as fun as it was when you were a kid .
Art Bell makes halloween fun . ..period

George Drooly

Yuck, ugh, both always sucked. G2G is like listening to 200 random people tell you about their dreams... boring, pointless.

tweet75

good idea art can do any topic "_____ matters". He would have Ghostly Matters on oct 31 and future matters on dec 31. Coast to coast is the stupidist name for his old show and you would never guess what the show was about unless someone told you or you listened.

You shouldn't say such things about a little fast-footed, nimble scrambler like Donovan "Jello Hips" McNabb.

By the time he became Mike Shanahan's problem, he must have been within a stone of three bills. Maybe a pebble, actually. I can't wait until his yearly jeremiads once he's eligible for HOF snubs. "It's because..."(two guesses)

Prediction show? pleeease NO!

It's even worse when someone calls in and bases they're prediction on a DREAM they had. They actually hold millions of peoples ears hostage when they do this. My eyes roll around like a human slot machine, not to mention the sigh's and groans I make.

It's just flat out selfish to trap somebody into listening to your dream. I say NO to prediction show.
