What forums do you use?

MV/Liberace!

from time to time, i see people making mention of "other" forums they use.  while most other forums blow mule shaft when compared to coastgab (via any metric you choose), it is interesting to find out where else people are trollin'.

i will occasionally use XDA forums if i have an android issue i'm researching, but otherwise, i stay away from forums.  they're usually tightly controlled by really really fat men with personality disorders who've never touched a tit.

Coastgab is the only forum I visit. I used to visit the Rogan Board, but not much anymore. I also used to be a mod at a photoshop forum, but like you said, it was tightly controlled, and quite literally owned by a fat man with a personality disorder, so I cut the cord.

Besides coastgab, I'm only active on the Zencart (open-source shopping cart software) support site. 18K+ posts and counting.

At present; Aviation based one for radio control aircraft..I used to be on one related to the car I drove at the time, to help with maintaining it etc.. I was on one (until it folded up for reasons not made clear after several years) that discussed  BDSM. That was quite interesting, amazing cross section of people.. 50 shades of shit ain't got nuthin!   ;)

Dawg's Saloon I used torment. Basically goofing on the 9 remaining Howard Stern fans.

And Hot Butt Play America. I'm Logjam the Lumberjack.

I visit a number of forums/blogs.  Flaming commie/pinko/liberal that I am, I wander over to Daily Kos and Balloon Juice on a regular basis.  I go to one-time conservative, now progressive Charles Johnson's Little Green Footballs once a week or so.  I go onto Mother Jones, Politico, Politifact, NPR, and the very interesting Dispatches from the Culture Wars.

I also surf on over to Redstate once in a while.  I used to go to David Frum's page (he bounced around a bit).  I also go from time to time to American Free Press (for a largely whacky liberarian perspective).

I sure don't post on all of those though.

I don't go anymore to HuffPost (too much fluffy liberal handwringing, even for me).  I don't go to Mediate or Media Matters much anymore.  The first is infotainment, the second too predictable and repetitive.

When looking for a new gun I go to firearm forums... I have registered at a few but don't remember their names... Other than some info on guns they are a pretty narrow minded crowd.

Used to follow a few nursing forums... but mostly the same questions over and over again.

All other forums don't total 2 hours of time.

Other forums?
What other forums??
:o

Same here. I used to frequent 1911forum .com and a few others, but got tired of the stupidity.

Juan

For several years I made use of a game modding forum called "Forgotten Hope" the common cause of which was a magnificently modded WWII fps based on the Battlefield 1942/Battlefield 2 (maybe even a mod of Battlefield 3 by now) by EA. It was a marvelous WWII fps but had a quite vigorous current event/political issues sub-forum, which was aided by having a lot of input from Western and Northern Europeans. I fell out of the habit and don't even a copy of the game anymore, but is anyone familiar with this mod and/or forum?

Anyone here a hanger? Besides gun forums I frequent hammock forums dot com quite a bit.

Tray von Gutenberg

Mostly warez and torrents forums. Have many, many "radio buttons" added to Firefox to visit sites I frequent often - mostly reliable hard news, or computer-related (to include a few retail - like newegg.com), but these are not forums. Very few forums where I'm actually a member.

I am hanging, but more in banana hammock way.
Which is much better than the Ian Curtis way.  :(

Have you seen Control?  It's a brilliant film about Ian and Joy Division.  Highly recommended.  The fellow who plays Ian nails the role, and sang all the part's in the film as well.

BTW, quick post.  You got to it before I tweaked mine.

Agree, it's brilliant. Not an easy role, either. There are quite a few scenes where he's not a sympathetic figure in the least and you wonder if he uses the epilepsy(the scene in the car on the way to a gig) and being his wife/bandmate seemed fairly difficult.

Curtis is one of those people I can't imagine growing old. Which I'm sure I would have said about Lou Reed or Iggy Pop in 1973 if were born.

Have you seen 'Twenty four hour party people'? Steve Coogan plays Tony Wilson who founded Factory records. Joy Division, Happy Mondays, Hacienda nightclub in Manchester all featured..I thought a brilliant film..Tony Wilson has a cameo role.

Coogan is terrific, it was actually on one of the cable channels tonight. Wilson was a real Zelig-like entity.

A few years ago I got the bug to get back into playing records again (now they're called "vinyl" ... but that's another topic). I wound up buying a handful of vintage stereo receivers, a couple 40 year old turntables (that look and play like new), half a dozen different cartridges/stylus combinations, some serious sixties speakers and all the supporting hardware to go along with everything. I did a lot of research before my purchases. Actually great older gear can be had for a relatively inexpensive price today.
I got all my information from audiokarma.org A great site with alot to offer, full of friendly helpful people. I hang out there a lot. http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/index.php

Mels-hole1984

I'm on another forum called BadgerandBlade.com Its dedicated to the classic form of wet shaving via straight razors and DE safety razors. I switched over to a vintage gillette super speed DE using a shaving soap, mug and brush. Best shaves of my life. I will never go back to using a cartridge razor again. There is a lot of good information over there for beginners. Great bunch of people willing to help out. They like to send around samples of blades and soaps and stuff for people to try. Over all great place. Any one interested in classic shaving should check it out.

Only Bellgab, serious.

I have been banned from 14 forums, that's only three less than Foodlion. Most were musician forums where everybody takes themselves VERY seriously, that's why music is dead. It's very soul is now digital. :(
