I think I Witnessed 2 UFOs Last Nite

I am not making this up.

Fireworks display over for at least 30 mins. I am sitting on my bed looking out from the 11th floor of my condo overlooking Long Beach harbor/Queen Mary. All of a sudden an orange light appears. It travels horizontally for a couple minutes. There was a police helicopter flying surveillance in circles in my direct area. I can't believe they did not see. The light goes vertical then fades away. Before that this same helicopter I saw being tailed by a black cylindrical object maybe 2 feet in length as it passed by my window. the object kept pace with the helicopter.

I have no idea what I witnessed, but it wasn't fireworks or a stray plastic bag.

The second object sounds like it could possibly be an unmanned aerial surveillance drone.  (You might have interest in these FOIA requests regarding Long Beach PD - https://www.muckrock.com/foi/long-beach-291/long-beach-ca-police-drone-documents-2219/).   This would apply to drones belonging to/operated by the local PD.  Some of those could be relatively small.

Also, the larger predator drones are deployed by the Border Patrol, and are in use from the southern border of San Diego, up to 100 miles north of the border, including Long Beach.

I did not - to my regret. But, to the avg person, you do not expect these things to happen...I have looked out the same window thousands of time...

Chinese lantern would be my guess. They glow orange or red. I saw a few the other night and thought they could account for a lot of alleged ufo sightings. If you saw one any other time of the year, it would be almost spooky.
