Art Bell Bumper Music

Started by fromwomewhere outthere, March 01, 2013, 12:01:49 PM

Is there a complete listing of all the songs Art has played on his shows somewhere?

Here is a partial list. HAL posted this back in 2011.

Art Bell Bumper Music
Here is a collection of Art Bell bumper music - of course it's not complete, and can add tunes if folks have additional requests. If I don't already have it, I can probably get it.

Download here: (~346MB)

Hello to anybody out there who reads this message,

I was hoping one of you could help me out with tracking down a piece of bumper music Art played during his golden years on Coast to Coast--

It used to be the sound of a clock ticking, without lyrics...

Does anybody remember this, and if so, was it bumper music anyone knows of?

A track title would be very helpful, and any help at all greatly appreciated.

Ahw, THANKS WR250!

That's it!!!

Thank you sooo much.

I always liked the Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazlewood stuff. "Some Velvet Morning" had that feel of tension flowing through it that made you think the male character in the song had killed Phaedra.

Yeesh, that's one of the very few songs I couldn't stand as Art's Bumper Music.

Looking through that list of bumper music it becomes apparent that AB has some... let's call it 'classic' taste in music.

But where's the Goth?  Where's the techno?  Where's the Northern European Industrial Electronica?

Sultans of Swing? Really?  Stick on some Covenant, Wolfsheim, or Zeromancer for the love of christ.

Of course Art has "classic" taste in music--it's the music of his generation.  It's his (talk) show and he can't be expected to play music to suit everyone.  If you want to hear those bands you've mentioned, there are numerous Internet music channels playing songs from every just about every genre imaginable.

If Art's copyrighted music dilemma proves to be cost prohibitive however, he could save money by paying to play a few of his favorite original hits, then adding some (likely free play) classic covers unearthed by cratediggers around the world.  Speaking of money, how about this little surf-soul gem recorded in the Phillipines.

Again, it's not the 1960s. If I "want to hear those bands [I've] mentioned" I'll smack them on any one of half a dozen portable devices and crank them up to 11.  No need to look for radio stations on the off chance they play a tune I like.  I can have Red Lorry Yellow Lorry 24/7, should it be required. Though Pandora does admittedly spring the odd surprise.

We all have our favourite bands and genres, but we only grow by trying new things, not by furrowing the same rut over and over.

There's some banging Goth and Techno tunes out there, and I'm sure they'd be a sight cheaper to license than the 'classics'.
