Falkie2013

Here's what I posted on the other board where I've been posting for 12 looooooong years.
I apologize for the ads from the site. I don't know how to remove them. I wish I knew how to modify my posts or just have it show AS i posted it. The post is from one of the 2 political forums on the site. I was a moderator of one of the forums, Freedom Hall ( NOT my idea, for such a pretentious name ) for 2 years.
Radio was always a big part of my life, long before Art Bell and talk radio was a huge part of living in San Francisco.
A partial excerpt from his blog.

CLIFF NOTES …
POSTPONING THE INEVITABLE …
WHY OBAMA IS WHAT HE IS

Summarizing the (pending) “fiscal cliff” deal:
Obama 1 (Won)
Republicans 0.

Elections DO have consequences.
Prepare for the flood when the inflation dam breaks, as it inevitably will. At which time the lumpen proletariat (a fine old German term which could be defined as modern-day Democrats) will moan, “What happened?”

It's astonishing that a man with such a colossal ego, while cherishing the opportunity to blame Republicans in the House short-term for his total screw-up of the economy, can fail to see that in the longer term, this period of U.S. decline will not be remembered as the “Boehner administration,” but the “Obama administration.”
- - - - -
Obama went on “Meet the Press” over the weekend and claimed he'd cut federal spending in 2011 by over a trillion dollars. The White House Office of Management and Budget says he increased spending by $147 billion.
Who's more credible? Take your choice. Mine is prompted by the ancient axiom about politicians: “If his lips are moving … “

Bernard Goldberg surveys the sheer idiocy of a nation â€" this one â€" borrowing upward of forty cents out of every dollar spent and suggests that Republicans find a spokesman who can deliver this message more effectively …
"If we continue spending money we don't have, before you can say The Great Depression we will be in one, except this one will be worse than the first one.
"We won't have any money for the Army, the Navy, the Air Force or the Marines. We won't have any money for the FBI. No money for interstate highways or national parks. No money for anything except paying off the Chinese and everyone else who loaned us money.
"And this president either doesn't get it or doesn't want to get it. Since he doesn't understand anything about growing the economy, he's happy just to 'spread the wealth around.' Except there won't be any wealth to spread around.
"He will never cut spending in any serious way. He thinks government is the answer to everything.
"The only way out is to cut spending and then cut some more. This president won't do it.

He's counting on you â€" the American people â€" not to understand how serious this problem is.”
And so far he's been right.

Circulating on the internet …
“In 2013, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union address will occur on the same day. This is an ironic juxtaposition of events. One involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to an insignificant creature of little intelligence for prognostication.
“The other involves a groundhog.”

Burt Prelutsky strokes his beard and metaphorically puts Obama on the psychiatrist's couch ...
"When I hear Obama insisting to the Republicans in Congress that when it comes to taxes and spending, it’s his way or the highway, I understand what people mean when they refer to sore winners. Perhaps it’s because in his entire Affirmative Action-coddled life, he has never been forced to accept the inevitable losses that lead to maturity, he remains, even in his 50s, as blissfully unaware of his numerous shortcomings as your typical spoiled teenager.
"My friend, Don Melquist, otherwise known as the Pride of Green Valley, Arizona, recently pointed out to me what a huge role bossy black women have played in Obama’s life.
The ladies include Oprah Winfrey, Susan Rice, Whoopi Goldberg, Valerie Jarrett and Michelle Obama.
But, it occurred to me that he has also surrounded himself with bossy Jewish men, such as Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod and George Soros, and assorted bossy ne’er-do-wells, such as Bill Ayers, Frank Marshall Davis and Jeremiah Wright.
Whoever it was who first observed that when you lie down with dogs, you’re very likely to get up with fleas, must have had someone very much like Obama in mind."

Argus Hamilton --
"O.J. Simpson is openly complaining in prison that they're after the gun owners, and tomorrow it'll be the knife owners."

A Note From Susan Rodgers....
Dear Friends:
Some of you may have heard that Lee has been dealing with some health issues of late. Unfortunately the rumors are true.
After extensive heroic surgery performed by seven wonderful surgeons and 13 hours, Lee decided to leave the bounds of earth and soar with the eagles. At 12:32 a.m. on January 31, Lee died. However, he died like he lived. He was brave to take the chances of a risky surgery and thanked his surgeons prior to beginning to try to find a way to extend his "used-by" date.
I loved this man with all my heart and it has been a privilege to share 35 years with him. He had integrity, he was responsible and he was honest to the core.
Lee's favorite poem was "Invictus" and I want to share it with you now. So, raise your glasses high and salute a man among men.
Susan Rodgers

Invictus
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
William Ernest Henley

"...and now, if you'll excuse me..."
Thank you, Lee for all the fine hours of listening.
You got me through many hours of the early morning and the other times of the day, too.
RIP.

Lee was kind enough to play this theme for those of us who remember the glory days of KSFO when it WAS the World's Greatest Radio Station.
Which is NOT intended to be a slur or comment against Lee.

I once called KSFO'S program director and suggested they do something special to mark the 25th anniversary of Sherwood's passing.
He said he might well do that.
As far as I know, nothing happened with it.
I have the Sherwood book on my shelves somewhere and fondly remember listening to KSFO way back when.

Rodgers death gets ignored by local SF Media
Outside of this site, and the radio station where he worked for nearly two decades, not a single Bay Area news org, paper, TV station, etc, gave notice to the passing of longtime broadcaster and talk-radio host, Lee Rodgers.
That is sad. Outrageous too, really, but in the world of local communications, not so surprising. If Lee were alive, he'd kick it to the ground and really not give a damn. Come to think of it, Rodgers would be blase: "And now...if you'll excuse me."
Myself? I'm not shocked anymore by anything.
But Lee Rodgers deserved better.
