I just really don't understand accusing someone we happen to disagree with on cultural/spiritual/political grounds of being "stupid".
And it's so common.  Is it simply a way to avoid engaging the person on issues?  Or is it projection?

Oh, I remember chosenbygrace.

I just don't understand falkie2013's posts. I'm not being an asshole, I really don't understand why they're here. Are they supposed to be evidence of how chosenbygrace is "a listener (with a ) room temperature IQ"? Because the posts themselves demonstrate that's not the case. Unless falkie2013 is implying that someone with fundamentalist religious views, even bizarre and unpopular views, is ipso facto a moron. Which I just don't get.

Are chosen's posts goofball? Yeah. Outlandish? Sure. Unsupported by science? Yep. He's an odd duck, and flatly wrong about a lot of stuff, but he's not stupid. In fact, I remember one post of his about the "malignant narcissism" of Richard Hoagland that was damn near brilliant.

I just really don't understand accusing someone we happen to disagree with on cultural/spiritual/political grounds of being "stupid".

:-\ It happens all the time on other boards usually by people who are intellectually and morally incapable of making an argument or bolstering their positions without engaging in invective or personal attacks.

I will make no bones about expressing my opinion of someone if they're lying or being revisionist, as I did on another board tonight when a poster tried ( and failed miserably ) to claim that Dick Cheney was wrong when he said that the Iraqis did not welcome us as liberators. I found several hundred quotes by ordinary Iraqis who not only cheered our troops but hugged them and who said the real enemy was not us but those who remained loyal to Hussein and who were the ones causing the problems in the country and who would cause more problems once we left.

I cite the above as an example because there's a lot out there that people try to assert as the truth and one must try to show that what they THINK happened is NOT what really happened.

At one time, my major in college was history & I took just about every US, world and California course there was and got mostly A's in them. My bookshelves at home are full of history, political and paranormal books. I love history.a
I will admit to being hampered on this board in that when I post I don't always know the history of a discussion.

So far I have NO problem with anyone on this board except that I wish the guy who posted the picture of Snoory in a bikini hadn't. It makes me want to NEVER look at any woman in a bikini again. The mental pictures created by looking at that thing are downright frightening, far scarier than anything on TZ or TOL.

And I may have met a new friend because one poster lives in the area of my old homestead ( pun intended ) of Pittsburgh.

:)
