Unfortunately, such "file sharing" is unlawful. That's that. It's those choose to do so must the first willing to accept the responsibility.

We all know the law. No illusions. Sure, there is a lot of intellectual property being "shared" online. But know the owners have paid a lot of their money into creating, producing and distributing such material. So, if they object to its misuse, or dare legitimate employ both civil and legal actions to protect it, no one of integrity should be crying foul.

If someone chooses to ignore the law, they can do that. But such should be prepared to accept the cost of that decision. That's all we ask of anyone and that's what adult people should understand. Every time owners are forced to track down violators, it takes away both their time and resources to create more material. That gets not only frustrating, but darn right counterproductive.

Perhaps people will understand that. The value of actually being a true "law-abiding citizen" in the United States. Peace, all.

Grabbing what I can, whenever I can, by whatever means, is my right as a capitalist. Integrity and such smacks of socialism and would inevitably lead to effeminacy.

Cool. You are entitled to your views. Perhaps if you're among those cited for copyright violation or violation of U.S. copyright laws, you can try that posing defense to an attorney. as see how far it goes.

In capitalism, we pay for what we get. Now, as I stated, you are entitled to your views. But there's nothing in U.S. federal law to back that. Time to write your elected officials and have them work to repeal U.S.copyright laws as being "socialist." There's U.S. Congressmen and Senators who want nothing more than to please their constituents. I respect your views and invite you to address that issue with them. I'm sure they'd like to hear what changes can be made to improve our nation.

Peace and thanks for the reply. It is both respected and appreciated.

:D I was only kidding. I admire your principles. Unfortunately, this world we live in consistently rewards the heartless bastards among us... so I'm trying to learn.

I know how you feel. No, everything isn't all its cracked up to be. Our culture too often defines success in terms of wealth and power. Many of those have done bad things to get that. yet, they are admired while those of integrity are viewed as losers.

Again, I do know how you feel. It's a shame we often work long and hard coming up with things that no one else can, have a goal to further mankind and benefit our company, nation and each other. Only to slam into a wall of insecurity and greed, lies and deception by so-called superiors.

You know it. People hide behind things and often act legitimate only to profit themselves. But the real shame i that they know they are doing is wrong, yet hold the power and influence to carry it out.

"I feel your pain," as I remember former U.S. President Bill Clinton tell a troubled citizenry when he assumed the executive office. "And I'll work to alleviate it, to the best of my ability."

HAL9000:  Can you share your transcoding technique to save disc space?

ziznak

hmmmm i've recently come into a hard drive where i can put this...

I am surprised that people still use P2P, newsgroups is a much better way, as it does not involve sharing files with anyone, has much faster downloads, and is essentially where most P2P content comes from anyway.  Plus with newsgroups you can use SSL so an ISP cannot even see what your are downloading.

gustne

Quotenewsgroups is a much better way, as it does not involve sharing files with anyone

I'm all ears, having gotten nastygrams from 2 different snoopy ISPs this year, plus the Demonoid disaster.

Please suggest the appropriate search apps and path to accessing the newsgroups.

gustne

How about a tutorial on how to put up shows on a newsgroup?

Wondering how  things are going with 2003 (and before), and also, if the 2012 torrent  will be available anytime soon? (though I'm really only interested in  Knapp/Ian/Simone...)
Also, now with Demonoid gone (at least for the time being)...what is the best option to get your 2004-11 torrents?
Also, there's a member on Coastgab called Ipokesmot who says he has a huge  archive, but hasn't had contact with you...I know you have an account  there so perhaps you should contact him?
Hope all is well for you and everyone else here in the new year!

Other recipients:     I was seeding Malacoid's magnets heavily until uTorrent upgraded itself and wiped them out.  I suppose I could re-post them again as DHT--but so could anybody because the magnets are in the CoastGab forums.  Malacoid for some reason doesn't want to post them somewhere as torrents--nor do I blame him because I have had nastygrams from my ISP about my former torrent traffic...Demonoid ya know... I have 25,000 shows I'd be happy to give anyone on a hd, but my tags are in a state of flux because I agree with Malacoid that they need to be intelligently retagged so they are sortable.  I don't know what Malacoid's technique is for quick renaming but it is very labor-intensive for me.  I wish some Regex wizard would give us some code to simplify the date conversion to Year-Month-Day-Hour.  Some of my additional tags are Host, Guest, and shortened Subject (from the Comment field) to combine to produce an informative Filename, making files more user-friendly for playing from a cd or pod device. CoastGab I think would be a better venue for discussing the techie aspects of acquiring shows, but the anti-Noory culture there may be off-putting to some of us who just "want the damn files"...  Perhaps because of the anti-torrent climate, the distribution issue would be well-handled by FTP--I think FileZilla has both a client and server app, and I think FTP is immune to snoopy ISPs--or am I wrong?
