So far, I stumbled upon this mask-wearing guest.  :D

Nebel's wife and co-host was every bit as interesting as he.  Claimed to have been a victim of mind control and had an alternative personality that was tied to abuse she received as a child.

The music comes from Forbidden Planet.  The creators, Bebe and Louis Barron, were among the first to create electronic music.  They did it by overdriving electronic circuits - ring modulators - so that they were actually blowing out vacuum tubes.

Yes, "Candy Jones," model turned government mind-control asset. Apparently she was even taller than Brigitte Nielsen at 6-4. Wow.

Excellent!  That’s what it sounds like.

We found this years ago.  It is music written for Forbidden Planet but not ultimately used in the movie, or something like that.

I did a little searching but with no success.  It almost sounds like something from the 50’s sci-fi classic “Forbidden Planet.”
Yes exactly, its an alternate theme from the classic scifi movie "Forbidden Planet"
Hoagie talked about this early on when his show started and why he chose that theme song.
There are youtube videos showing and playing the original 45rpm record with this music that Hoagland used:

Thanks, Dubb. I see where there’s a CD of the movie’s soundtrack. The music really did a great job of setting a “space” mood, at least for the era.  For RCH, it’s an appropriate opening for setting a “spacey” mood.  :D

Thanks for the further info, Morgus.  I’ve always been a big fan of 50’s, early 60’s Sci-Fi flicks and find the little details about them interesting.

Fascinating.  A few years back, I picked up a modern version stereo tube amp.  I really enjoy the type of sound it produces.  Plus, the lit up vacuum tubes look cool at night. ;)

Tube distortion is synonymous with warmth and clarity. This is because the tubes create even harmonics which sound subtler and rounder. Conversely, if we then turn on our solid-state amp and do the same, the distortion will produce odd harmonics which are often described as grittier and more aggressive in tone.

Much like Pubini when he's on a "run" and pumped full of chemistry.

That’s the big plus for me, Doc, the warmth and the clarity.  Full solid state stereos, at least within my price range, just don’t sound as good to my ears.

Always tubes for the best audio. For many years I used solid state guitar amps. Then I plugged into a tube amp and I thought, Oh! That’s what a guitar amp is supposed to sound like. ;)

Is EOD Myke going to try to claim he was the first Long John? LOL  ;D

I no longer doubt any of this story for a single second. Art piped up and said that they used it on him too, but I just told him to shut up and he went away, mewling only a little.

That one got out a laugh out of Ramona, who has showed up so infrequently, that her routine failure to appear at all lends credence to the idea that I'm not only strictly just imagining things every time.

It's a busy week, huh? Maybe I should buy a car. The one from Vanilla Sky was cool.
