most certainly deadly for an elderly man with COPD.

My heart is already breaking.
Not really. My mother had copd for over a decade and was in the hospital with pneumonia several times. Its not always deadly.

It depends on a lot of factors, really. If you have other health issues that restrict the treatment they can give you (for instance, drugs you are taking for one condition can't be combined with other ones that will knock out the pneumococcal infection) then that is bad news for your recovery. If it spreads to both sides then that's really bad news, but presumably that isn't the case with Art. It can vary in severity a lot, but it does take out a lot of older people, and sometimes even young, healthy people struggle to recover.

The yay is premature but so is starting to fill out Art's death certificate, which you seem ready to do. So before you tell us again that Art's condition is "most certainly deadly" IF he has pneumonia, I suggest you take a pill and wait for some actual verified information on his condition. You're not helping.
Seconded.

Besides, an optimistic approach will only help the mass consciousness experiment- yes?  ::)

Hope you get better, Art. Despite the health annoyances, please try to have a happy 4th!

Nothing is certain and none of know Art's status for the future.

My 99 year old Grandpa with heart issues was in the hospital with a touch of pneumonia last month. He was fine within a week and is now home again. Pneumonia is obviously nothing to laugh at, but it isn't a death sentence.

So Art is in the hospital (I hope it's not one of those cat and dog hospitals); Heather bails after two hours; and Richard is AWOL.  They've all gone to shit and the hogs are eating them.

Heather didn't bail, she lost power.

Tough to do a show without electricity.

Let's all do a collective consciousness healing for Art. It worked on a hurricane when he did it that one time on his show (which is why he never did it again), so let's do it. All at the same date and time. It must be in unison.

I`m all in for that. And I would encourage all the folks out there that believe in a higher power to try and tap into that. I`m prayin` my ass off for the old coot. I know deep inside, Arthur is a Christian, and I am appealing to our savior, Jesus Christ, to look over him. Amen.

I'd be interested in finding out what the statistical survival rate differential between those strongly supported by prayer, vs all others is for various maladies, other factors being equal.  And between those with others 'looking into a flame' on their behalf and those without, etc.

For what it's worth, thanks to Mr. Google.

This may be totally off the wall to some here, but if it can help someone, it's worth it.

I am in my early 70's.  Several years back some twenty-something deliberately coughed in my face, twice.  I have no understanding as to why he did this, but ever since then I had had a bad cough.  It went on for years, sometimes going away for a short time but returning with a vengeance at others.  I know lung issues can be particularly bad in the elderly and thought this would be the thing that eventually would claim me.

Then, I started taking Olive Leaf Extract, one in the a.m. and one in the p.m., whenever the cough started up again.  After having done this for I don't know how long, I find myself free of the cough.  I think some of us can have a low grade infection which leaves us more vulnerable when assaulted with another virus/bacterium.

I had Olive Leaf Extract at home because a local doctor said he took it at flu season to protect him from the things his patients dragged in - and it was recommended to my husband by a Chinese acupuncturist who was also a herbalist.  Both said once in the morning and once at night at first symptoms of a problem.

If we have a toothache or earache and must wait for a doctor's appointment, this stuff seems really effective in getting the immune system to fight off the spread of infection.

It might be of some use to Art to protect his lungs and it might be handy for others to keep around the house.  Another thing that seems effective for many (not as much for me) is Grapefruit Seed Extract.

For those who think this was a waste of their time - sorry.

Thanks.  I've found a number of time tested herbs and natural items work as well or better for me than the usual drugs.  It varies based upon the condition and the person, with, as always, caution being the better part of valor.

I know.  The guy was very thin, too.  Some people become ill and feel resentful that the world made them that way.  Remember those stories, years back, of guys with AIDS who had unprotected sex with the idea if more people became ill the government would be forced into doing something to help them?  I don't know how they can follow such deranged logic.

Please get well soon, Art.

I was wondering something after hearing the news. I wonder if this will help bring Art back. With his love of radio, and the realization of the fragility of life. I am trying to find the good in something sad. Please come back to radio when you're better, Art.

If an infected person - or anyone for that matter - intentionally and willingfully, with the intent to cause bodily harm, coughs in someone's face without covering, it should legally be considered assault.

Having just spoken with Heather I invite you all to gather your positive thoughts and bring them to MITD tonight where we will unify and transmit them to one Arthur William Bell III for the purpose of remotely uplifting his health and wellbeing. Yes, it is time to engage in a mass consciousness experiment for the man who familiarized many of us with that concept. So friends, for this one night put your personal opinions and/or butthurts aside and let's engage in some group focus aligning our best thoughts for Art and his family. It could be fun to listen and chat with some positive singularity. And it would be nice to have him with us for many more years. Thanks.

Glad you put a time limit on that. Now I can get back to my opinions and butthurts.

No "yay" is in order if he has pneumonia. It is deadly for the elderly and most certainly deadly for an elderly man with COPD.

My heart is already breaking.

Can people here stop posting stupid shit like this?  We don't know anything about Art's situation, so stop the stupid negative comments about his health and demise.  He did not look that bad in the picture he posted.  Pneumonia is not a death warrant.  Just send him positive thoughts and vibes and stick with that.
