I think that a lot of people have been doing the math and it doesn't add up.

Guest for five hours = drag out the conversation, could get boring
Guest, then open lines = lots of open lines all week (callers will repeat, get diluted because the show is shrinking)
Guest, then another guest =  more work for producer to book, run out of interesting guests sooner

It's a losing situation any way you slice it. And just how do you not wear out a host who you've asked to do almost double the work each night?

Listened to some old gabcasts the other day and forgot how annoying Heathers voice was. I can't listen to it. I don't wish her any ill will, hope she succeeds if there's a market out there for her. 5 hours? I can't imagine listening to anyone that long, and I can't listen to her for 5 mins.

Sure.  What would provoke anyone to make such a decision?  Someone who obviously does not understand their audience.  Most people need a reason to stay up so late, something to keep them awake, good programming, an engaging host.  It's an imposition on people to expect them to stay up even later for a mediocre presentation.

I must have missed something years back during the Sirius period.  I found it odd that there was such a quick transition by Sirius from Art's show to Noory's.  It seemed as though there was a very speedy transition from Art's complaints to his departure and then C2C appearing. 

Concerning the technical glitches with Sirius, we had them, but not as bad as some were reporting, but then there seemed to have been many people with no problem at all. 

If MITD started out with Art trying to shift the show to Heather, could he have suggested that to Sirius, which they rejected - could that have also been a part of the squabble between them, causing Art to leave?

Sure.  What would provoke anyone to make such a decision?  Someone who obviously does not understand their audience.  Most people need a reason to stay up so late, something to keep them awake, good programming, an engaging host.  It's an imposition on people to expect them to stay up even later for a mediocre presentation. 

Again, why does it actually matter?  Art isn't the host anymore so the distaste, outrage, etc. is over a show that has existed less than 1 year. There's no legacy, no real reason to even care about it if Art isn't hosting it.

Everybody has critics, I had lots of them. I do not agree with her critics, I listen and love her style. There are some I guess who don't like a Woman on the radio or don't like her because she is not me. If you have not heard her in a while take a listen, I think she is doing a great job but as I said we all have critics.

Then someone else said: Always appreciate your opinion, Art Bell. Love a woman hosting a radio show. Wish the show great success, and respect Heather Wade, but simply could not stay subscribing or enjoy show as it is presently. If you were on 12x a month, I would resubscrbe. Whatever it is, life goes on. Wishing you all the best!

Then I said: Agreed she is doing something she's never done, nor been trained to do...that's why she shouldn't waste our time trying to do it. I have a very difficult time listening to her (as I do the other guy)...I'm frustrated by anyone who isn't connected to the guest AND talks about themselves rather than letting the guest speak. Engaged listening is a skill that I think GN & HW don't have. Giggling & feigning interest and curiosity is disingenuous. My time is valuable too. I would (and did) gladly sacrifice my sleep for engaging conversations.

Isn't character doing the right thing when nobody is watching? Or is that integrity? Either way, why do you need the world's love, admiration, and support to do what you feel is the right thing? Very simple question.

Last night I listened to the first show Art had after the test show.
The one with Graham Hancock.
   It started with Art talking to Crystal Gale about the song she wrote [Midnight in the Desert] for him, and how she came out to his house
and had lunch etc.
Art sounded so upbeat and happy. He mentioned BellGab affectionately more than once too. He gave this site credit for helping bring him back on the air.
It was like a different person than the man Art is now.

I was startled at the comparison from that Art and the more recent Art that's on Facebook and some of his postings here.

So I'd expect a similar pattern for the 5 hour MITD?

Maybe a similar pattern, but one was a B-2 bomber on an approach pattern.  The current one?
