I am NOT an expert on everything, however, i am very smart and i am in a unique position
do to my respect and admiration.  I alone have the power to influence Art.  You saw his post "looking forward to the meeting"  i.e. he values my opinon after years of friendship and mutual admiration.  I will not be mocked by some dummie hear on a bulletin board.  I will continue with the planed meeting and want the vast majority of members of bellgab to no, that i will not be intimidated by a small minority of posters who have no life, believe they are important (when they are not) and have no idea who they are dealing with.  I am a very important person and if you really knew who i was, you would all be in au.  But i will leave that for another day, perhaps after the results of the meeting become public and you can all praise me.  Note:  I am keeping a list of those who said bad things about me, or tried to imply that i was not as important as i am.  You will not be forgotton.  Once this is all resolved i will make sure the full power of the Bellgab community comes down on you with no exceptions.

Poor James [van Praag].  I first saw him on a tv show called, I think, 'The Open Door'. 

I remember reading, some time ago, that he no longer is doing readings.

I knew a person who was psychic.  He would never take money for readings and do them very selectively.  He firmly believed, as he said did many unpublicized psychics, that once you accepted money for your abilities, over the your ability would disappear.  He named a number of people to whom that happened, and I remember Jeannie Dixon was one of them.

I think I know why that happens: Psychic abilities are weak.  Psi in general is a weak effect, weak enough that it can easily be overcome & overshadowed by any other effect that can operate.  If strong psychic abilities had been developed, I think we'd've known by now.

So to the extent someone has psychic ability, once that person becomes a performer, paid or not, the pressure to perform that all performers feel comes to the fore.  So the psychic comes to rely more on more reliable methods: cold or even warm reading.  From that point, feedback will come into play such that the person becomes better at reading by non-psi methods and trusts less in whatever info enters hir consciousness via psi channels.  So the psychic ability atrophies.

It may be possible to develop strong psi abilities, but it'll have to be done in ways that "isolate those muscles".  Until we develop good ways to do so, I don't think psi research is going to get far.

Also, Heather has shown up almost every night for hours on end.  Our man George has stated that he cannot do that.  He sometimes screams in pain and is bedridden for days or weeks on end, you know...  "I think" that Keith and Art probably required a reliable host who has held a job for more than 3% of his life...

He was remarkable, that's for sure, though I think Dr. Johnson's observation (originally on women preachers) applies.  To paraphrase, it was like a dog walking on its hind legs -- it isn't that it is done well, but that it is done at all.

I don't know how much he can be blamed for Noory; his endorsement was pretty measured.  But picking Heather was an act of patronage, which is, after all, his right.

It's even more embarrassing to be IN the audience.  At least it should be.

If you notice, everything he (or any of these so-called 'psychics') tries to guess about each person has a fairly high probability of being at least vaguely accurate for the demographic the person he is talking to is in.  Emphasis on 'vaguely'.  He just happened to hit on an audience full of people where those probabilities weren't panning out.

That's all it is, defining things vaguely enough to fit most of the people in a specific identifiable demographic.  The more narrowly defined the demographic, and the more accurate the assessment of the specific individual, and the more vague the guesses about them and their situation, the more 'accurate' the guesses will be. 

And most people mostly only remember the accurate guesses.  When all that fails, notice he starts talking about 'loving oneself more', and that sort of dreck.  To distract the audience from his shitty guesses. 

There is no such thing as a 'psychic'.  However there are people who understand human nature, there are people who are pretty good at looking at a person and guessing what sorts of situations they may be in based on their demographic - which is tentatively based on their appearance (age, health, class (upper, lower, et), the clothes they are wearing, how they speak, and so on).  There are those who, based on the above, have a pretty good idea how certain situations for certain people tend to play out.  People may even have convinced themselves they are 'psychic', in reality they actually just have a better understanding of certain things (above) than others do. 

And people want to believe.

If I learned anything at all listening to Art Bell's shows, it's that it's mostly all bullshit.

Sorry to disagree, but there are genuine psychics.  James was probably one at one time.  Yeah, he is no more, which made him resort to parlor tricks and now he no longer reads. 

There is no reason for you to believe there are real psychics just because I say so, in fact, you are more honest for not believing.  People who believe with no proof are like many who follow religions just because others do. 

Yup - there's such a thing as magic, too.  And we survive the loss of our bodies.  At least I'm sure you'll experience one of these.
