How the fuck else do you explain why this woman is on the radio?  It's like a 2-month-long joke or something.  Either she is fucking him or related to him.  I can't come up with a better explanation.

I too considered the "Art's Daughter" theory, but I'll put that aside. In the bigger picture, I'm not sure if it would matter.

She got the show initially because she was familiar with some guests (having worked as producer), Art wanted to give her a shot, and most importantly- she was available on short notice. In that short-term "emergency" situation, she made sense. I gave her major props for stepping in and giving it a go in what was a difficult situation.

However, past the first week or so, Keith had to make a decision. Did they keep rolling with a green host while expecting people to keep paying? Or did they try to get a more experienced host who, while still a drop-off from a radio legend (Art), could carry the show more capably for the foreseeable future?

The problem was that there were operational disagreements between the host, the guy who runs the show/network, and other people within their organization. A strife coupled with financial/technological requirements which made the spot unappealing to more seasoned hosts.

And so here we are.

I found the John B. Wells scenario someone mentioned to be most appealing, but there are plenty of hosts they could have approached in addition to the two gents (Hughes, Warner) we know about.

No one wants to swim too close to a drowning network and, let's face it, the atmosphere around DMDN has been toxic for a long time. It's been one controversy after another, public or not.

That doesn't explain how she got to be a producer in the first place. What does 'being familiar' mean anyway? We're all familiar with some guests through listening to the show. It would have been more pertinent if she had had some on-air experience.

I don't know what was 'difficult' about it. The difficulty has been for the listener, who has had to listen to someone's internship.  Let's not forget that he was broadcasting on a network that was built around him, and there would have been any number of people who could have filled that spot. Art chose someone totally untried, for reasons of his own.

Yeah, I guess that's a fair explanation.  But who is letting it go on for this long?  This is like watching a ballplayer way past his prime try and play the game.  In that analogy, the team would cut the useless player, but with this Dark Matter crew she is somehow allowed to stick around and stink up the whole league.

Last night was another low point.  How THE FUCK have you never heard the name Antonin Scalia?  How?!?  No one that slow should be allowed in front of a microphone.  It's nothing personal, she has been nice enough, but it's past time to move on.

You're right, you should move on  ;) Plenty of other shows to listen to!  :D

I wasn't attempting to explain how she became the producer, just the host. Quite honestly, my best guess at her getting the producer gig was that Art wanted to mentor her for whatever reason. "Familiar" means that perhaps she had conducted pre-interviews or booked the guests- nothing more. I agree that on-air experience would have been a major plus.

Being thrown into anything with little notice is difficult. It's particularly difficult if (as you've mentioned) the host has no real on-air experience. I agree that it was tough to listen to, but I give Heather some leeway for dealing with what was a knee-jerk decision by the powers that were.

Speaking of the decision, they did take the quick and easy way out instead of finding a more capable fill-in host. Either that was the plan for the get-go or they're a dysfunctional bunch. Possibly both.

They're either prideful and want to stick to their guns, or there are no other options. Those are the possibilities I can think of.

Did I get that right?  Heather did not know who Scalia was?  Not only is she lacking experience for her job, but she is lacking in LIFE!

To do interviews well you have to be a very smart young person, or a person who is older and has been engaged with our world culture the whole time.

No shit, you're serious?  Heather actually said she had never heard of Scalia?

Exactly. He even stated on the gabcast that even if this guy is caught that he does not have plan to return as a fulltime host.
He claims he loves doing this and that the only thing that stops him is this stalker, but yet he does not want to host the time fulltime again?? That makes no sense if he actually loves it. He even said that he had more fun doing this show than he had with any previous shows.
Considering that he introduced Heather from the git-go, I think the way this has ended up was always his goal.  He probably thought she'd be better than she actually is, though.

Youtube, type in the name, and listen. It takes all of ten seconds to learn a pronunciation. Even better, take an additional 10 minutes and read the Wikipedia article on the person or the car company. Last night's mispronunciations were unprofessional, that's Noory/Leo Ashcraft shit.

No Duke, she did not say that. But she mangled his name pretty badly. Twice.

She did get "Jeh Johnson" as "Jay Johnson" and barely managed "Amy Klobuchar"

I would so be bold to suggest she read through her news before going on the air.

But, you are not in the US, are you?  Scalia has been often a controversial figure who appeared in the news here.

please quit, you have no talent, no instinct and no ability to host a radio show.
Please for the sake of the future of radio, quit now.

She said Ant-TOE-nee SCALE-ee-ah, more than once, which leads me to think she doesn't pay much attention to the news. He's been on the news non-stop here for the last few days. She should know how to pronounce it, especially if she chooses to report news.
She also pronounced the car maker Peugeot as Poo-GEE-oh.

Swerve: Turns out Art's biggest defender is the one organizing the raids and the one chiefly responsible for getting rid of Muh Heather.

Yeah but you're in GB right? Scalia's been all over the news here, and most people have heard of him before his death also. Anyway, it wasn't like some British public figure had died, who she was unlikely to have heard of. Like Jimmy Saville for instance. Heh heh good choice huh?

Listening to her for a few minutes. Does she strike you more as an intelligent worldly person or as a Girl Falkie?

She's always struggled with news of the day segments to open the show and constantly mispronounces words in embarrassing fashion. It's as if Leo Ashcraft and George Noory did the fusion dance and the product was Heather Wade.

Well, since she doesn't pay much attention to the news, maybe more like the Sarah Palin of paranormal radio. I guess that makes Art the John McCain for foisting her on the world.

I just can't listen to to C2C or MITD...kind of reminds me of Old Uncle Joe:
