No. Not a rip-off.

RCH using that theme is a tribute to LJN. Hoagland is a fan. Hoagland's show has the same feel.

I said that tongue in cheek. But it did trip me out a little as Hoagland/LJN's theme is absolutely amazing and it was the first thing that made me warm up a little to Hoagland. I would listen to MITD, then just listen to RCH's theme, then just listen to RCH's monologue, then just his first hour, then suddenly I had listened to the whole show. That genius bastard.

I don't listen to either show anymore though. I like Hoagland with challenging guests but when it's just him and his friends circle jerking over pictures they're looking at online, I'm not interested. Listening to MITD now is like watching someone pull the wings off a butterfly. I may be a callous heartless son of a bitch, but I don't enjoy all the negativity directed at Heather night after night.

Feel free to hack at me as you wish, I can handle it.

Yes, but he said nothing about his family (including Heather)

I don't read anything that even remotely suggests that he expected any exceptions at bellgab.

The only one who "hacked" his family or Heather was a handful of trolls and has nothing to do with most members on this forum.
Or do you mean that constructive criticism when it comes to her hosting and producer qualities counts as well??

I would be very surprised indeed to learn that Heather expected anything other than brutal honesty from bellgabbers, having been a well initiated bellgabber herself.

I bitched as much as anyone when he left the show every show he ever left.

Liar*** There are still some here who have not stopped bitching about Art's first retirement and you appear to be willing to move forward from the last. ;D

Says you or says RCH? Did he credit LJN for the music? Did he get any necessary clearance or approvals to use it? Is it public domain? Or did he just rip it off?

Brig, you're not a dummy. The man gave us 97 new shows. The stalker ended that.

97 shows. The glass is still half full.

He talked about it on one of his early shows, I will see if I can find a reference.

I recall RCH giving a shout out to LJN. Those of us who own recordings of LJN knew right away. I never knew the title or artist, though. Fantastic show opener and closer.

I don't know if the music is in the public domain.  If you care, you can research "theremin", "Louis and Bebe Barron" and "The Forbidden Planet".

I remember him discussing it on the show, but I don't feel like listening to RCH right now.

I believe Robin uses that line instead of "Not tonight dear I have a headache".

Boom.
