My God!
Who is that?
Please stop showing that pic. It is scary weird.
It can't be too weird.  Has MV used it as an avatar yet?

Hoagland's guest the other night. Richard Spivey I think.  Showroom Dummy fell in love.

Lol. Grav, you know what the really scary thing is? And a lot of folks aren't going to believe this but, I don't think it's photoshopped.  :o

Good question, pye. Do celebrities owe their fans? Nah. Just as fans have no obligation to their celebrities. If they aren't entertained, they're free to go elsewhere.

I'm not sure if it's as cut and dry as that. It appears to be more of a symbiotic relationship if a celebrity's goal is to be successful. Doesn't a celebrity need fans? I think they do. How else will they generate any interest in their performance?

Art doesn't owe his fans anything (especially when the safety of his family is in the equation). Does he owe those who put in effort to get MITD up and running? Nah. They knew there was the risk that it might never have gotten off the ground, and as it turned out, we had quite a wild ride and got many a week of new shows out of it. Pretty good deal, actually.

I don't believe that people made any demands of Art, at least not on Bellgab. People here were supportive and worked hard to help in any way they could. What you said about it being a risk is true enough, but it did seem like success was well within reach. "Pretty good deal" is a matter of opinion and not everyone will feel that way.

Did Heather get the short end of the stick because she had to quit her previous job to become Art's producer? Nah. She knew there were risks and as it turned out, she gets to host the show, wow, talk about your wild ride! I, for one, definitely think she got her money's worth.

Not sure what to make of Heather's involvement at all, so I won't speculate. We know little to nothing about her. If this was all based on the risks involved with this undertaking, I would have expected other tried and true hosts to have been recruited for possible show rotations, especially if there was something going on behind the scenes. Popular guest hosts would have taken some of the pressure off of Art and allowed the show to reach a higher potential. Strange how it ended up with Heather taking over. She'd be the only one who could tell you if it's worth it or not from her perspective.

Could Art have handled it all better? Sure. 20/20 hindsight and all. Fans could've handled it better too.

We all have our opinions about how things were handled and I can't make comments from Art's POV because I wasn't in his position. I can comment on how fans reacted because I was part of it this time around. I don't feel the need to continue supporting a show I didn't sign up for but wouldn't discourage others who do. Aside from any trolling that occurred, I think the fans' reaction to the whole mess was what he could expect given how he handled the situation.

It's from his own website, so I don't think it is photoshopped. He definitely has poodle genes if that is his real hair.

Not to be a jerk about this, but unless he's got an update about his 'stalker' situation or news of interest to his disappointed fans- what does he have to say? He's seen the backlash to the way he's handled this whole mess. He's seen what happens when he posts pictures of his smiling family. The question I'd ask is, "Does Art want to come back?" or "Is there anything for him to come back to?"
How exactly is he going to catch this stalker when no one is even investigating it?? The only small chance of catching this guy was by investigating the call threats and yet Art decided to not do that.
He should just stop teasing with possible comeback and just say he is done with the show.

If was asked on the show if that was his real hair and the reply was yes :P

Depends on which fans you are talking about.  I'm glad it was questioned and discussed.

Same here.  Even if Art comes back again, how long will it be this time?  I just don't care anymore but GNS.

... He should just stop teasing with possible comeback and just say he is done with the show.

I'm almost certain he doesn't want to do the show anymore, at least full time.  And if he wanted to do it on a part time basis, he would have done that, or would be doing that now.

Art started doing the paranormal shows when tired of doing politics.  Given that the paranormal genre has been done to death, and is frankly mostly debunked, it wouldn't surprise me if he were tired of that as well after so many years of it.  If that is the case, he may have even come back in part simply to please the fans.

The show with the Alien In The Freezer guy on Sirius/Dark Matter was the absurd poster boy for the tiredness of the subject matter, and I think he realized that afterward.

What I would propose to Art is reinvent himself once again, and to do shows that focus on topics of interest to him, whatever they may be.  They wouldn't all have to be from a specific genre.  I think Ian Punnett was doing that with his shows much of the time, while still doing the occasional paranormal topic, and that worked pretty well for him.

Fans of Art Bell want to hear Art Bell, regardless of the subject, and he has done many shows outside the paranormal over the years.  I'm not sure he would even need the music bumpers to set the mood for that type of show, making moot the licensing fees.

If he were interested in doing that, I would strongly encourage him to start slow, one night a week, instead of risking another start-and-quit like we've seen the last two times out.  He can always add additional shows later if it's working for him, and if he has more topics he wants to cover.

And no more bullshit and drama, even if that means staying off social media and not discussing whatever thoughts occur to him regarding the direction or future of the show going forward.  No more 'big news next week', or 'stay tuned'.  Limit updates with his fans to topics like his family and the cats.

Wow, that's just not right. : :)
If this guy was a guest on Hoagland's show I just might have to check it out.
All I know of R.C. Hoagland was when he used to be Art's Lunar real estate agent back in the day.

Unfortunately, P*B, you may as well be asking for Noory not to suck.  Neither can stop being who they are.

True but it would wreck your neck unless your bed was custom indented for his hair.

That is what I believe as well, which is why I think he should just be honest about it and move on.
I disagree with the paranormal topics being done to death though. I think the biggest problem is that they have not tried to dig up any new guests instead of bringing the same old guests with some of them being known fraudsters.
There is plenty of lesser known potential guests that they could have gone with, but seems like he/they did not want to take risk bringing someone new and unknown into the show.

Just because you think something is fact doesn't make it so. He should be honest about your assumption?

I enjoyed the UFO stuff with Lazar, RCH, Lear, etc. The shows I really enjoyed were "non-fiction",  if I may call them that. Experts on Chinese military ambitions, the state of the KGB. He once had a woman who held state office in Hong Kong, Emily Lau I think was her name.
They discussed the impending, (1999) Chi-Coms assuming control of Hong Kong. Towards the end of the show she gave out some GREAT recipes for egg rolls and fried rice.
I agree though, I think Art is done.
