Sounds to me more like he regrets his decision. He's clearly coming back. He seemed happier without the affiliates anyways.

You did not have stellar reading comprehension test scores did you?

You'd be surprised.

Art always does this shit. Fortunately for him, and his fans, MITD affords him the opportunity to have his "fuck this I'm out" moments. Go along for the ride or not. Art was always coming back. It was obvious the second him came on the radio to interview that idiot on he day of his retirement.

Is this a serious question, O PBS, denizen of the internet?

In the absence of biographical information people are grasping at straws which they hope will turn into baseball bats.

If she is a quick study and says clever things, they will say it's because she's Asian.

If she sounds sexy on the radio but won't show her picture, they will say it's because she's Asian.

If she has her dream job handed to her, it is because of Art's acknowledged fascination with all things Asian.

I have two adopted Korean aunts who can tell you all about being raised like good Scandinavians and still finding themselves at the bottom of most power dynamics in the real world.  Both married white men who were far uglier, fatter, and poorer than they, and thought themselves lucky.

When they coulda had me?  Shit.  They done got screw-ed.

I don't know about him, but I always scored in the top percentile, and he's definitely right about the regretful part.  But it's not clear that he's coming back - it reads to me like he very much wants to, but it's unclear as to how he could do so safely since the person(s) behind all this remain(s) anonymous and free to act against him again.  And if I were in his shoes, I'd be wondering if it will ever be worth risking his life and/or family's safety again.  Understanding the real source of this intimidation might make a huge difference in his evaluation of all this, but that can't happen unless the nutjob is caught, which seems unlikely.  There's also the issue of the backlash - after seeing how poorly he and Heather have been treated in the midst of this crisis, I would think he'd be asking himself if we are worth the potential risk and effort of doing the show.

I don't envy his position one bit.  He's caught between two immovable objects, and the answers that he needs to move forward in one direction or another may never be within his grasp.  No wonder he's having trouble sleeping- the not knowing is the worst part.

Wow, are people fickle.  I said a few times that Art owes me nothing (and it still stands.)  I would love to hear him again, and refuse to disembark from this ride until it stops and rots around me.  (I don't understand the people who want to get off this ride- what do you gain watching it out a car window from the parking lot?)

That said, it is odd to read an entire page of nothing but support.  I wonder how many of those people posted real garbage just a couple of weeks back?  Or, perhaps, the Christmas spirit just enveloped them all?

India is a giant bag of shit.

Their economic growth numbers are enviable, though - I'd give my right arm to see double digit growth rates in the US.  I think we're still hovering between 2-3% annually, and they say 99% of that growth slides into the pockets of some <1% at the top.  We are so screwed...

That is fascinating.  I'm really glad to see the shift, but it's so drastic.  Maybe people with a short fuse tend to shuffle off to the next outrage fairly quickly...to feed...?

Night Train trailed off just a few hours ago, and says he is done for awhile.  I miss him already.

Unless you want to see a bunch of speculation regarding Hether's pedigree, there is nothing to see here.

I wonder how it would have gone over, if Bell had just said, "I'm tired, I feel like taking the whole month of December off, hey, y'all wanna listen to my protégé for awhile? Good luck!"

I think the network would have tanked even harder. How long did you reprobates think a seventy-year-old man was gonna work five days and nights a week without a Got-damn respite?

Art was born a new man on the 25th(24th depending on your timezone) when he reappeared after saying he was done with BellGab  ;D

I have some fun kicking him in the shins if I think he's being a douche butthole.
But ultimately would love for him to return to the airwaves in some capacity.

He'll be back. It runs through his veins.
One night as the marauder plays and slowly increases in volume we will be pleasantly surprised to hear Arthur Bell booming over the airwaves, all over this fuked up world. The world is a tad bit more tolerable with Art on the radio.
I can't wait  :P

Fuck the show.  I like bitching about it more now.

Art gets almost nothing but sympathy and support on his Facebook page.  He sounds to me like someone who has his shoes off and is toasting his feet by the fireplace.  I thought it was very interesting that he posted the picture of himself and Asia out in the snow on Christmas Eve/morn.  They didn't look like they were fearful of being out.

Maybe my heart is made of stone, but I still don't understand the constant repetition of how family comes first in relation to Art's decision to stay off the air.  Somehow the two just don't seem to follow.  Maybe I'm missing something ...  :-\

Yeah but if the DMDN collapses, MITD would probably go down with it, and getting back to live broadcasting if that happens could be a real problem.

I think if we can hold it together until this stalker business is dealt with one way or another, he'll come back to the show.  But if everyone bails from the ship, it's game over.  Heather's doing her part.  It's up to us now.  If we don't think it's worth a few bucks to keep the lights on for awhile, he won't have anyplace to return to when the smoke clears.

Actually you may have a point...MV has the whole "live podcast" thing worked out, so maybe Art and MV could work together to keep MITD going if Keith throws in the towel.  I'm not sure why the other podcasts on DMDN needed Keith to do live shows.

Meh.  I'm sticking with the program til the bitter end, regardless.  I like the concept of the DMDN and I pay more in ATM fees in any given week.

KGRA is better & has better shows imo.  But he could just do his own thing & not be beholden to a network or time slot.
