The fans aren't exactly shy about attacking those who don't share their opinions though, are they? The trouble is, they don't do it in a very entertaining way. It would be fun if they were amusing or informative in their defence of Art, but they turn tortoise and call anyone who isn't on the team a troll and sulk in the corner. That's the big problem for me - this empty-headed positivity is painfully boring. It is also insincere, if they refuse to acknowledge that there is anything about their hero worthy of censure. I would rather hear negative comments from someone whose opinion I respect, than a litany of babble from someone who wants to suck up to me

I think any extreme becomes boring quickly if it's indulged in for too long: positive or negative.

Well said.  I have similar mixed feelings.  I'm ready to let it go at this point though.  (Note I'm talking about Art's MITD.  Heather's MITD is a different show in my mind, and that story is still being written.)

Same,  zeebo. Not going to ditch too quickly. I can't get a handle on the long term feel of her show yet, since she's still getting her bearings. I'll reassess my subscription in February or so. I mean, on some level, come ON folks... it's five dollars a month. I live a pretty modest lifestyle, but five dollars is the cost of a coffee some places, and when it buys 2.5 hours times 20 days worth of archives a month, I'm happy to take my time to figure things out.

Who said I was bothered? People can post what they like, I am not about to tell them what to do. I'd rather they were more engaging with what they said, but you can't expect miracles from some people. I could say exactly the same thing to you: why spend any time on something if it annoys you? The answer is, it's all a bit of fun. Sometimes it's irksome, but it's still fun. Don't take it all so seriously, because it's not worth it.

I am interested in Art's story, although I know we will almost certainly never find out the truth. He's done with the show, and that's that, but the idea that he would go to lengths like this to slide out of it makes me scratch my head. It seems improbable and yet plausible at the same time. If I had to guess when the rot set in, it would be around the time when Art first started to make noises about not enjoying the show and many of us had a 'here we go again' feeling about it.  The end, when it came, was as predictable as it gets. A lot of people, I think, are annoyed that they got caught out again. Whether that is a legitimate grievance or not, I don't know, but I think that's at the root of it.
