How does one tell the difference? Yes I have done it. Does that mean I can't ask about it? Perhaps I am rethinking my "exaggerated" expressions. I can assure you that as forum tough as you might be, some might be reluctant to engage with the added weight of also liking the dick.

I'm sorry that my politically incorrect statement has, appaerntly, triggered your PTSD. My appologies, sir.  ;)

Please, point out to me when I have, ever, personally, attacked Art.

Sorry. I'm not saying "you" specifically but anyone who feels the need to take it there. Although I'm not crazy about having my appreciation of Art Bell being equated with brown-nosing or dick-sucking. It's a brain and voice only thing with me in regard to Art. I'm sure that's the way he'd probably like it to stay too  ;)

You definitely delight in attacking his fans...you have to desperage almost every post in support of Art...

The fans aren't exactly shy about attacking those who don't share their opinions though, are they? The trouble is, they don't do it in a very entertaining way. It would be fun if they were amusing or informative in their defence of Art, but they turn tortoise and call anyone who isn't on the team a troll and sulk in the corner. That's the big problem for me - this empty-headed positivity is painfully boring. It is also insincere, if they refuse to acknowledge that there is anything about their hero worthy of censure. I would rather hear negative comments from someone whose opinion I respect, than a litany of babble from someone who wants to suck up to me

Then why post retorts? Why let it even bother you?

You would not believe the positive change in my posture. Keep up the posts.

I think any extreme becomes boring quickly if it's indulged in for too long: positive or negative.

No, only the fawning, "Art can do no wrong" ones.

Well said.  I have similar mixed feelings.  I'm ready to let it go at this point though.  (Note I'm talking about Art's MITD.  Heather's MITD is a different show in my mind, and that story is still being written.)

Same,  zeebo. Not going to ditch too quickly. I can't get a handle on the long term feel of her show yet, since she's still getting her bearings. I'll reassess my subscription in February or so. I mean, on some level, come ON folks... it's five dollars a month. I live a pretty modest lifestyle, but five dollars is the cost of a coffee some places, and when it buys 2.5 hours times 20 days worth of archives a month, I'm happy to take my time to figure things out.

Jesus, is there some weird, new brain virus that only attacks radio personalities?

All those satanic messages in that evil rock and roll bumper music.

No worries, RCH picks his music from the obscure electronic unicorn collection.

Who said I was bothered? People can post what they like, I am not about to tell them what to do. I'd rather they were more engaging with what they said, but you can't expect miracles from some people. I could say exactly the same thing to you: why spend any time on something if it annoys you? The answer is, it's all a bit of fun. Sometimes it's irksome, but it's still fun. Don't take it all so seriously, because it's not worth it.

I believe there are more than two camps. I also think criticism about the subject of the thread does give a slight bit more license to be defensive when criticisms are given. This isn't the Art Bell sucks thread. Although I am not sure there shouldn't be one.

At this point it is much too messy to ferret what and when, who was initially guilty of the straw that broke the thread's back. From my perspective (like I have another), it does seem to be an onslaught of "let's piss on everything." I am still scratching my head as to why anyone cares whether Art's story is valid. As to credibility, I caught a 12 foot northern pike.

I can't believe all this abuse has happened, and on the trusted internet of all places.

That's what I see as well...you used to come here and say things like, "good show last night", or "all the best, Art" and it was all cool...

Now you will immediately be insulted as a "cock sucker" if you do...

That`s just crazy. And to add to the craziness, just last night on Free Talk Live, a show I listen to almost every day, long time co-host, Mark Edge, announced he`s quitting the show! I couldn`t believe it. Something in the water, I tell ya.

Nice that this was noticed.  In spite of the steady stream of critiques, there's also been a solid foundation of good-faith support here which has been sometimes overlooked.

Agree. It's sad. Can't be easy to learn to let the assholes roll off your back, but the online stuff seems to have fractured things as much as the shooter and the threats. Guy's been a public figure for decades now... can't believe he's so hurt by it, feels like it would be a big "who the fuck cares" in my mind. I'll probably get crucified for saying this here, but... there's got to be a 100 to 1 ratio of Noory to Art hate online... and Noory, for all his flaws, shows up for work any night he doesn't eat pizza rolls. If George can get over it, or chose not to engage... come on, Art. You're a thousand times the talent he is.

Well, yes, Jesus it did. And as you suggest the internet... the sacred site of humility, honesty, integrity, and the ability to wikigoogle at the speed of your dad.

But if I take your argument to its conclusion, lets just shit on everything. Because, internet.

No, I don't see myself as the arbiter of decorum for anyones posts... unlike some others.

I say, post as you'd like.

As I will.. I have respect for Art on many levels ... And have issues too.. But repect for him, out weighs any desire to post 'crude-spins' that will add to his troubles. Same goes for Ms Wade.

Cut them slack.. And see what devolops .. Why crush their spirit? That's a crude thing, to do to anyone. But hey this is BellGab so who gives a shit.. Leave your good manners at the 'sign-in' door.
It's all allowed.. For the benifit of genius  that owns this place  ;)

Love Art..  Praise MV.. Adore Heather..

That kind of surprised me too. Then again, I have at times, given a too fast fuck you too, only to find myself with no way out the next day.

Sound reasoning. The Prince of Peace is pissed off at the internet.

Now you're just being a pedantic little twit. No one called you a cock sucker. No one.

The point I was making is that this thread is here to discuss "Art Bell"... wherever that takes us. It's not a place where we all gather to pleasure the King.

Now that BellGab is a trigger word for PTSD I'm going to start referring to the site by its old name: CoastGab. Back when the active members were genuinely interested in Art Bell. Whereas the newer members (not all but most) seem more interested in trolling Art Bell.

I am interested in Art's story, although I know we will almost certainly never find out the truth. He's done with the show, and that's that, but the idea that he would go to lengths like this to slide out of it makes me scratch my head. It seems improbable and yet plausible at the same time. If I had to guess when the rot set in, it would be around the time when Art first started to make noises about not enjoying the show and many of us had a 'here we go again' feeling about it.  The end, when it came, was as predictable as it gets. A lot of people, I think, are annoyed that they got caught out again. Whether that is a legitimate grievance or not, I don't know, but I think that's at the root of it.
