Thanks for the well-wishing, but I'm okay.  She was an AB fan too. Brought my mother, g-pa and g-ma on board to C2C in it's magnificent hayday. My mother and I both enjoy Whitley, JBW, and AB. She actually called me to check on me after the AB news broke on Friday.

That is great to have that common interest in Art.
My mom is more opened mined than my dad. But neither of them share my interest in my radio addiction or speculative topics I enjoy  :)

But my grandmother on my dad's side loved radio. I used to listen to the local night-line show with her when we visited. Fun times, even though the topics were mostly political in nature I enjoyed the discussions and call-ins of people expressing their views.
The radio host always ended the show with the song from Louis Armstrong 'What a Wonderful World" and he would sing along at certain points. Absolutely loved it.

Sorry I didn't mean to ramble but got carried away reminiscing  :P

Art Bell
Just now ·
Just a thought, if Heather does well and I am sure she will and if things are quite here for some time I may do a unannounced fill in once in a while. The biggest problem I had was the exact routine I had to follow with this stalking jerk. We are watching every car on our street and there have been a few. Living life like this is less fun.

Red is a capable professional... She will make it on her own, without the need for an Art Bell random appearance. ..

Go get them Red!

This sounds like a line we are being fed so we don't cancel our subscriptions. Art is being dangled like a carrot.
I'll bite

I keep forgetting a lot of Art's listeners are crazy conspiracy nuts. This shouldn't be anything new..or surprising.

I get it! You just listen for the pictures. Clearly, you're the only shinning beacon of reason in a sea of madness. Thank God you're here to set us all straight.  ::)

Fair enough. Do as thou Wilt. I'm willing to continue the ride even if it's the Art Bell Rollercoaster to Nowhere

With that attitude there will be nothing left to torrent.

I am grateful beyond words to have the chance to keep the fire lit for Art... it's been... emotional.  I will cover many of your favorite topics; suggestions are still, and always welcome.  I do not have the science background Art has, but have a healthy curiosity of everything science related, especially AI.

I am not Art, but there will be a noticeable Art influence, for I know no other way to do this.

If it is quiet at Art's place for a length of time, he may make un-announced appearances from time to time.  I have told him anytime he is ready, the show is his on a moment's notice, for it is his rightful place.

You are a good girl, (Redacted).  I will hang with you.  My sub stands.   Fucking ART.  He's a lighting rod for shitheads, Daves'sshysters and malcontents, and that's just his Bellgabber family.  Fuggedabout the fucking public, they're shit house crazy.   And then, there's always those few who are actually dangerous......

Family first, ART.  Heather, you knock us dead, kid.

We're incredibly fortunate to have you stepping up to save the show, and I think you'll enjoy yourself once the emotional shock waves subside a bit.

My only suggestion is this:  pursue the subjects and guests that really fascinate *you.*  That genuine personal immersion is a vital key to Art's magic.  You're clearly interested in many of the same general areas that we all enjoy, so follow your heart and we'll have as much fun as you're having.

And try to start off with some seasoned guests who have lots of great stories and experiences to share, so you don't have to work really hard to make an interview interesting.  That time travel guy was *the hardest* kind of interview that anyone could ever do, because he was totally nervous and didn't have any experience with his shtick.  And he had the personality of a potato.  So it was an uphill battle all the way - almost as hard as interviewing some smarmy guy who talks to God, lol.   Since the science stuff isn't really your favorite kind of topic, perhaps someone into the ghosts/hauntings/psychic realm would be more fun for you - Dr. Barry Taff would be a good choice.  He's got tons of radio experience so you can just toss him a question and he'll bounce back with a fascinating response.  Or if you're more into ufos I think Stanton Friedman would be a fun guest - he's as sharp as a a tack, fun to listen to, and he's got his material down pat.

I understand that your first impulse is to please us, the audience, and that's kind.  But it's better to look at us as a sounding board for ideas that genuinely spark your interest and make you think "ooh, that sounds fascinating...I want to know more about that."

It's all we're really good for, besides bitching and moaning ;

If Art shows up once or twice a month that's worth $5 to me. So if you want that to happen, people need to keep their subscriptions.

You'll do fine. I'm tuning in. Yer sexy. Intelligent. Hot.
But for this gig...two words: pitch shifter (try an Eventide harmonizer). Drop it down there an octave or so to around an Art-flat minor.
